Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Just had an email reply from dealer and told now *hopefully* expecting my car at the end of July!! 🤬 Will it even come then? Fed right up and will now look elsewhere, ridiculous situation.
What a blow!! July??!! Did you decide to go elsewhere mate?
Do hope you had a nice hol love, and nothing spoilt it 🙂
May 16, 2024 at 11:21 pm #277783This is all crazy to read. I ordered 13 April. Feel like it will be atleast decemeber reading all of this lol. Shame its the exact car I want
Is that on MB? Or was it a private sale? They removed Volvo off MB 17th April, so you must be one of the last to get an order in, be interesting to follow your progress and timescale 🙂

May 17, 2024 at 8:48 am #277796Hey MrsL83. I ordered silver dawn from TMS coventry. No addons 🙂 it is MB yes. I did check this with the dealer as days after I ordered it seemed to be taken off MB. He did however say that because it was ordered before the order stands.

Hi, I’ve not decided what I’m going to do yet. It’s just so crazy after waiting almost 5 1/2 months and being told this. As I’ve mentioned before my main problem is the drivers seat and so few cars fit the bill for me but I know the Volvo seat is fine as I currently drive my own Volvo with the same seat.
I noticed yesterday someone posted an email they received from Mercedes Benz saying they’re coming back to Motability very soon and the email showed the GLA on it. Had the older GLA in the past and it was a superb car for me and found the seat even more comfortable than the Volvo so I’m thinking of keeping my XC40 order and seeing what happens. The cars are pretty much exactly the same type of vehicle with same boot size etc but the 1.3 engine will be far better economy than Volvo and the performance fine.
Only troubles is that Mercedes also operates under an agency D2C business model now just like Volvo so will have to see what waiting times are like. It’s been around a while and stock looks good. My local dealer has almost all trim levels on GLA’s showing as no more than a 14 day wait! But … will Motability customers be allowed those cars? We shall see.
Thanks for holiday good wishes! My wife is mad at me because I emailed the dealer and had the bad news so I’ve promised not to check my phone today or look at cars and just enjoy the sun. lol 😁🤣🤣
May 17, 2024 at 9:57 am #277807Just been alerted to the fact Volvo are back on Motability today 😳 Higher Ap isn’t it?
Hooe they are honest about delivery timescales!May 17, 2024 at 10:05 am #277808The AP figure appears to have more than doubled!
May 17, 2024 at 10:17 am #277809The AP is same for when i ordered in 13 april. What was your AP if you dont mind me asking. Mine was 3499.
May 17, 2024 at 10:22 am #277810When I ordered, the AP was £1499 for the petrol, mild hybrid version-MY24 specification. Did you order the fully electric version as I think that did have an increased AP figure?
May 17, 2024 at 10:34 am #277812Sunflower12 did the ap decrease on the Petrol hybrid Jan 1st? I paid £1999 on the 4th Dec but added the upgraded seat and tinted windows and get the £750 contribution.
Also I’m lost what a My24 is as I thought it was full electric 🤷♀️ or maybe I’ve ordered a Petrol and not a petrol-hybrid. I’m not a car person lol!!
Doesn’t really say on my paperwork! XC40 2.0 83 163hp Plus Dark Auto FWDMay 17, 2024 at 10:43 am #277813When i ordered only the fully electric was available, the ap was 3499. Now the AP for both petrol and electric is same. @nshaw MY24 means Model year 24. They change the spec every year slightly. Depending on when produced you will get the MY24 or MY25. Thesea re the differences https://www.paulrigbygroup.co.uk/news/volvomodelyear25/. Most notably the 360 camera has gone but the Blindspot Information & Cross Traffic Alerts are now included

May 17, 2024 at 10:47 am #2778152.o refers to a 2 litre engine. Therefore yours in petrol 🙂 The electric shows kW for kilowatt.

Ah, thank you I had no idea. So presumably I signed up for a My24 on the 4th December. The dealer showed me the 360 camera giving me a lift back! Needed it for a street parking.
Hope it arrives with that.
All this talk of My24 and 25 I had no idea it related to my order!!May 17, 2024 at 10:53 am #277817That’s funny!!! I have no clue about cars either, but from what you’ve stated, I think you’ve ordered the petrol, mild hybrid!!! However, probably best to check with your dealership. Yes-from memory-originally, when it first came on-the AP for the petrol mild hybrid was 1999. Then, on 010124, the AP decreased to 1499. That was the base price and I didn’t order any factory fitted extras. I ordered a MY24 spec vehicle which I personally preferred, as I valued the 360 camera and preferred the standard seat fabric. The MY25 spec had the BLIS/CTA system (instead of the 360 camera) and also came with upgraded seating material and 19” wheels (MY24 has 18”) The above is from my memory so please check with your dealership for actual confirmation.
May 17, 2024 at 11:00 am #277818I also think whether you get the MY24 or MY25 would be based on more the build date of the car rather than order. So basically they shut down for a few days to change bits in the factory around and i think that was in april. So if your car had been built before then I think would be a MY24 if after would be MY25. But as sunflower says best to check with the dealer.
May 17, 2024 at 11:02 am #277819Bloody good job they don’t charge us the new Advance Payment price. Lowest AP is now £3499.
Definitely keeping order. Have thought about cancelling but nothing else fits the bill. I don’t mind waiting, just the longer my car is on the road the more it’s going to cost as needs work for mot in July.
Regards the MY24 vs 25, I’ve been told 25s are coming in with 24 orders and I will more than likely get a 25. It is a shame as the 360 cam was a huge selling point considering i have restricted neck movement. Don’t even think it can be added later.Other cars I’ve been keeping an eye out for is the new Dacia Bigster and Ford Explorer. Although the Explorer is nothing like the original 🤦♂️ and is a slimmed down electric version.
I like sitting outside RAF bases all day pretending to be a photogramapher

So if the seats were upgraded I’ve paid too much (£750) and ap decreased (£500) grrr
I didn’t look at Motability website again after the order as no idea prices went up and down.
Don’t think the dealer is talking to us my husband is hassling him with emails! See what we end up with as we can’t cancel and reorder at a higher price 🤷♀️I’m learning so much from you all- thank you 😀
May 17, 2024 at 11:54 am #277824I asked my dealer yesterday about what is going on and is he delivering MB XC40s. he has replied today:
“Yes, I have delivered vehicles ordered through Motability.
All manufacturers are experiencing difficulties with builds at the moment, but nothing out of the ordinary.
I can’t tell you if an order that’s not built yet will be held at a port prior to shipping to the UK.
We’re seeing factory orders in the usual order timeframe of 3-6 months, some earlier than others.”
May 17, 2024 at 12:12 pm #277826Sorry, but anything a Volvo dealer says cannot be trusted these days as time has shown. All they do is take orders & place them (hopefully!)
@nshaw Yes, with you on not getting answers to the questions you’ve asked dealer. All I ever get is a basic, non committal answer that largely ignores the questions I asked. I thought Johnsons Volvo were good at the start but the proof is how they perform when problems arise and they’ve failed miserably under that criteria.
I basically got back “it’s not my fault guv, it’s Volvo themselves.” Well, that maybe true but as a customer I expect far better so how do you propose to improve the situation?
Also, I think you should definitely get the extras removed from your fee if you get a MY25 car because they will be standard. Insist on it.
May 17, 2024 at 1:47 pm #277829Hi everyone🙂 I had a call from my dealer to say my car has arrived at the dealership.. my order was placed on 19/12 an xc40 dark petrol in silver with a spare wheel /protection pack mats .. he said mine is one of his first motability to be given out … Like Steph I’m shocked as I’m never first usually .. wanted to have me in on Wednesday to collect but I can’t do that day so I’ve arranged next Saturday .. all my motability paperwork reflects this change .. insurance documents raised ready to sign with number plate etc so seems legit .. I’m grateful to you all for keeping me informed as learnt more here from you than my dealer which is clearly wrong on all kinds of levels & I will tell him this when I see him ..I will post proof of life when I do collect next week .. I am hoping you all get positive calls this week too 🤞plus thanks everyone for advice on specs etc as will definitely look at what my build is as wouldn’t have thought to look when I pick up ☺️was told 360 cameras so if I don’t get them will know it’s a 25 build that’s right I think ..

Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Let us know what spec you are given 😀
May 17, 2024 at 3:00 pm #277833That’s brilliant news for you! 😀
Easiest way to tell the spec instantly is if grey cloth seats it’s a MY24. Black microfibre and it’s a MY25. To be honest I’d highly doubt dealers have any MY25 cars yet for motability orders as it’s only a few weeks since the factory would have been retooled so not enough time to build/ship/deliver.
May 17, 2024 at 3:47 pm #277836I really hope I don’t get the black seats, they were a no for me. Golden retriever and black seats 🫣

Ive just been on the Motability chat messenger and this time they’ve offered to ask the Volvo account manager. This is a change from last week where they just said I could cancel.
I was asking which model (my 24/25) I was to receive.
see if they come back with any better info. Like a build date and maybe a suggested delivery 😀 can only wish!May 17, 2024 at 4:12 pm #277838Where did you see the email about Mercedes coming back in the scheme?

Where did you see an email saying that Mercedes were coming back on the scheme? I know there was a post knocking around a while back, bit it turned out to be rubbish.
