Matt TI’ve just had a call from my BMW dealership to inform me that the i4 is coming on the scheme he’ll know more on Monday or Tuesday. I had an extended test drive in the active tourer schedule this morning but I’ve told him I’ll wait he’s arranged a test drive of the i4 for Tuesday so he must be in the know.

m4d4dsmOn current demand the X1 is as popular in terms of lead times as the i4. If this was to be added to the scheme, with the popularity it would have on Motability, it could be a year before you get your hands on one. The facelifted X2 that’s due out is more likely to arrive on the scheme I’m told

JohnI think if you look at difference between MSport and sport the sport works out better value with the Tech pack including if battery remains the same.

PhilJust seen a matt grey M sport parked up and I have to say, it looked a real stunner! I’ll be keeping an eye out to see if it becomes available next quarter.
September 26, 2023 at 6:25 pm #234770i just dont see why they can let you pay the difference of the £1k which is what it was at present between sport and M sport. I understand the performance might be only slightly larger but that moonstone grey is a great colour esp with all the M sport trims.
September 26, 2023 at 6:34 pm #234771No performance difference, not like it’s more to insure. Higher retained value too ??♂️
"Come on BYD Seal!"September 26, 2023 at 6:37 pm #234772(and they’ll let you tick all the options if you’re willing to pay!)

It does seem daft, but this is one of the drawbacks of leasing through Motability. Whilst there may only be a £1,500 difference to a retail customer (and possibly less than that through a private lease due to better retained values), car manufacturers often use Motability to shift less popular models.
The overwhelming majority of i4s sold are the M Sport model, whereas hardly anyone chooses the Sport. Solution? Do a deal on the less popular Sport model to Motability to get them on the road. I suspect that the deal is such that the discount offered to Motability is significantly more than the £1,500 retail price difference.
If EV sales start to slow following the postponement of the 2030/35 cut off, I expect that we will see a lot of higher spec EV models appearing at far more competitive APs in order to keep the numbers up.

AnonymousAnyone know what the cost is to charge the i4 at home with electric at around 0.29 p per kWh ?
September 27, 2023 at 1:27 pm #234836Anyone know what the cost is to charge the i4 at home with electric at around 0.29 p per kWh ?
Two ways of looking at it, but main one is cost per mile:
So you should get around 3 miles per kW, so approx 10p a mile, but go on an EV tariff at 7.5p kW and you’ll be paying approx 2.5p mile
Second is straight cost, 70kW battery would be approx £20 to put in 70kW, but you’ll rarely do that from 0, and you will use slightly more electricity than you store in the battery due to losses in the charging system, but it’s only a few %

MarekJust a quick note on this. Spoke to my BMW dealer a few hours ago as I’m planning on adding an extra to the car I ordered in August.
I asked about M Sport coming and he said usually he hears a few days before prices change and has heard of nothing new coming.
As far as the I4 leaving, he said if he hasn’t heard anything then “it’s probably a case of nothing changing.”
I’d love the M Sport but I really like the look of the Sport also. Either way, getting the I4 on Motability is great.

thats a shame. I was hopping it would be added, even if its the basic model with tech pack is good enough. I guess the BMW offer may stay the same this quarter probably just re introducing the 3 series.
it would also be nice to have a choice of a each car they off even if the AP is slightly higher the more valuable the car.
September 28, 2023 at 6:21 pm #235074Every i4 i have ever seen on the road has been the Msport trim in Edrive40 guise with the odd M50 thrown in but rare. I have seen 2 Edrive40 in sport trim but i have never seen an Edrive30 anywhere so i guess that answers why its on the scheme.

That’s because there is no eDrive 30, it’s a 35 on the Motability scheme ?
But I agree there’s very few 35s around or Sports for that matter, so ours is going to be a rare beast indeed.
The 35 was only introduced in February this year and I think supply has always been limited from Day 1.
Performance difference between the 35 and 40 is small, as while the 40 obviously has more power, it also has a heavier battery, hence the tiny 0.3 seconds between 0 to 62 times. I don’t know what the more indicative 30 to 70 times are, but having driven the 35 I can say it’s very quick

On private finance the difference in cost is minimal (like £15) but you get circa 100 miles* more per charge.
So that’s why they aren’t “selling” as many 35’s. At least you will be able to spot the Motability car (using a blue badge is the other clue ?).

KaisIt’s sad to see these german brands come to the scheme but only offer cars that nobody wants to actually buy, like we are leftovers that will take anything they offer, it would be nice to treat motability customers like they did prior to covid, where a 3 series and A3/A4 black edition was available. M sport should really be the base model as they are doing with the 4 series gran coupe (non-electric) and i5.

JohnI really dont see much of a significant difference between the MSport and sport other than visual and the lumbar support.
Seats are same minus blue stitching stearing wheel different and dark roof spoiler and some m badges hence that’s why not much of a price differential.
The sport with the tech pack to me would be the preferred choice over standard MSport with same battery.
September 29, 2023 at 5:14 pm #235261
m4d4dsmI can’t agree with you unfortunately Kais, we aren’t leftovers. The i4 on the motability scheme is a terrific deal, to include all servicing, a wall charger and the allowance per month – customers not on the scheme can’t get anything close unless they deposit upwards of £10,000 or pay a monthly payment circa £850 per month minimum.
The deal in principle looks a lot better for us than them

JoA £53.000 BMW inc £2000 tech pack for £5000 with a £750 off with free insurance, tyres, tax 60000 miles, free wall charger. how can anyone complain. I think if the msport was on here people would be moaning that the I4 M50 should be on the scheme and if that was on here then a Rolls Royce should be on also to treat us. The only real difference between the sport and m sport is the slightly different body kit and steering wheel. If you that bothered you can just buy the msport bumper for a few hundred. In my opinion I think the sport looks much nicer sleeker . And the edrive 35 and 40 drive pretty much the same there isn’t much in it. Or you could get an Audi Q4 45 with nearly 300hp for £5999 if you place your order before the end of this month.

ElectrickeryI can because you can’t fit a scooter in the boot and it’s very low to get in and out off and also it plays right into the hands of the daily mail brigade and you can easily see why a hard working squeezed middle see one of those turn up on the drive next door next door surely people can see that
but they will find out in the winter that they only get about 180 miles out of a full charge

Jo@kezo The Audi Q4 40 model is replaced with the 45 so if you placed your order now you get the 45. Will prob go up in price from 1st oct.
