CapuchinI know a few of us are eagerly awaiting delivery of these so thought I’d make a thread so we can all keep track of updates etc
Ordered ultimate Misty jungle (with light leather) on 9th November. Delivery slated for end of March. Dealer has had no update yet.

I like the analogy fwippers – just don’t want to end up as copilot – tho I think that is the way things are going.

BrentDoes anyone have any info about the newer 2023 kona? Dealer still says march and updated shape etc but no real info.

There is nothing concrete yet, just lots of rumours and predictions. When Hyundai issue a press release we’ll know more.

all ive seen on forums is as @fwippers says rumoures and predictions and a couple of vids suggesting it will be similar stretched version of current vehicle or a mini Tuscon style, but these are best guesses. Like you im eager to finf out especially if much bigger.

August 23, 2022 at 7:43 pm #195106I think there are a number of ponderables concerning the new Kona and I would hate it to lead to disappointment – we think it will be available next year – but will it be for all countries – left hand drive – right hand drive – and will it be offered on the Motability scheme – I suspect it will be much more expensive than the current Kona and therefore even if offered on scheme might only be in the lower trim – the increased wait for the current Kona makes me wonder if a storage of chips are being created so as not to interfere with the launch of the new model – maybe I am being over cynical – but from Hyundais point of view with current world problems it must be a concern.
August 23, 2022 at 8:03 pm #195107August 24, 2022 at 1:40 pm #195143Hi all – whatcar have recently done a review of the new MG4 EV – after a quick read I thought it might be of interest to some of you who are still waiting or thinking about ordering – so maybe worth a read and a check of delivery times – no idea if or when it may or may not be on Motability.
But one to keep in mind and add to the mix.August 24, 2022 at 3:03 pm #195141
BrentWould it be likely that we’ll get a like for like version?
Like if we ordered the ultimates, we’ll get the ultimate in the updated trim? I don’t think I’d wanna keep with it if I found out it wasn’t gonna have what I’ve paid for but them I’ll wait another year for a car.
August 24, 2022 at 3:32 pm #195152I think you will get what you ordered wherever possible – if for whatever reason it becomes unavailable then I suspect they would offer alternatives – but that might mean a longer wait – Motability are having to wait in line like everyone else – I suspect some people maybe offered a different colour or spec to speed things up.
The situation is new for everyone so I’m sure Motability will be looking for ways to ease the process on a week to week basis.
I am very aware that the 9 mths I waited seemed a ridiculous time but know I realise I was actually fortunate to order when I did and get the spec and colour I wanted at a very good upfront price.
I hope it works out well for you and others and the supply chain difficulties ease.August 24, 2022 at 3:48 pm #195156Hyundai are pretty good at delivering what was ordered. If colours are no longer available then dealers should contact to offer alternatives. Just been reading the ID3 thread, where James indicated his real life range is 280 vs 336WLTP, which is in stark contrast to the mid 300’s many are achieving in our Kona’s.
August 24, 2022 at 4:02 pm #195159I think the main thing people want to know is the realistic journey range ie mix of A and motorways and sticking to speed limits – I for example wanted an EV that was capable of 250+ Miles in a variety of realistic circumstances – rain head wind – very hot sun etc.
I was happy to compromise on speed ie 65 and economy mode as the price of not waiting whilst it charged.
The Kona so far has exceeded all my expectations – in range – safety and driver aids sound and comfort.
Well done Hyundai on a realistic stated range ??August 24, 2022 at 5:15 pm #195162It´s unusual nowadays to get more than you pay for, so realistically I was looking at around 280/290 miles in summer and nearer 250 in winter. To be achieving an average in excess of 330 is very good indeed and the weekend before last obviated the need to charge the car at all. I use the car in eco mode mainly, not to save energy as the difference between the modes is quite small, but I find the car a more relaxing drive. Again on the motorway, 65 is sufficient for me, although on my return journey I did up it to 70 for the final 3o miles or so.
Range is the key for many, so to get around 80% of the WLTP in summer would be an issue for me .
August 24, 2022 at 5:35 pm #195165Yep – totally agree fwippers – there are two many of us returning similar figures for it to be written off as people that don’t exceed 50 and are freezing or sweating in eco+ mode.
Overall so far I have averaged 5.1 – at a time when I have tried out sport aircon etc.Like you I have settled for eco mode but with smart recuperation on – I sometimes use left paddle to come to a complete stop.
When it is hot, which it has been often I use a/c on low and ventilated seats.August 24, 2022 at 5:46 pm #195166Yep – totally agree fwippers – there are two many of us returning similar figures for it to be written off as people that don’t exceed 50 and are freezing or sweating in eco+ mode. On-Board computer indicates an average of 5.1, which knowing how Hyundai program their cars is probably 5.2 or even a bit higher. My old Skoda, a VAG car was always optimistic, if it said 42mpg, when I did the brim to brim test, it was nearer 39 or 40. When I did the same with the Tuscon, it was always the other way, a couple of more miles per gallon. I suspect the same is true in electric mode, and we should bear in mind that even a zero range, there is usually another 5-10 miles in the batteries, not that I would wish to try it!
August 25, 2022 at 9:06 am #195186For those wondering about the 2023 model, here is a link with an article published a couple of days ago. The new model is a bit longer and wider, has a slightly larger battery, but the torque has been turned down quite a bit, with range expected to be similar to the existing model, all according to the article.

Chris86% 313 miles not bad!
August 25, 2022 at 1:46 pm #19519586% 313 miles not bad!
Actually extremely good, equates to around 364 at 100%.
August 25, 2022 at 5:47 pm #195215
BrentSo, for anyone who knows much about torque,
With the speculated numbers, how much would that reduce the 0-60 and overall over taking power?
I’m not fussed too much about speed but I’d definitely not want a 11 seconds to 60 kind of car if possible. The ZS speed was a real of put for me.
August 25, 2022 at 6:43 pm #195218I think it is less about the o – 60 and more about the power curve – as an example my last car a Prius phev was nothing special 0 – 60 – but 0 – 40 was good enough so always ensured I had power in the battery for exiting on to main roads – joining roundabouts or motorways – yes it is also nice to have acceleration and torque from 40 – 60 but the lower 0 – 40 I find more useful.
August 25, 2022 at 8:35 pm #195217
BrentAlso, does anyone know if motability are likely to honor or cancel our orders for the realistic face-lift in March?
Assuming the car will likely go up in price, will they honor my £1099 payment or will I have to pay more? I’ve called and they seem a bit unsure themselves but the person I spoke to also compared a mokka to the kona so
August 25, 2022 at 11:58 pm #195223I really wouldn’t wish to speculate, the best option is a call to motability.
August 26, 2022 at 8:01 am #195224<p style=”text-align: left;”>Weekly charge, 3hrs 15 mins to get from 70% to 100% and now indicating a range of 354 miles. That equates to 5.5m kWh. This time I will take the mileage and do the calculations manually, like a brim to brim fill.</p>
August 26, 2022 at 8:45 am #195226That will be an interesting comparison fwippers – sometime in September I will be going to Cornwall – a 250 mile trip – it will be interesting to get a real journey range on mostly motorway and A road – later in the year I will be doing it again when I assume it could be colder and you are rolling the dice in terms of rain wind temperature.
I assume most of the high figure posts have been accumulated local low speed trips – but still extremely good indicators as to 250 plus being an all year expectation of long journey range – especially if maxing at 65 mph. - AuthorReplies
