as said there is no engine noise so your going to hear other noises more. i wouldnt say its very bad, but of course it could be better. all about price i think and fact the body is designed for a ice car. i think if it was designed from ground up to be an ev it would be quieter

The interesting thing for me is that the Kona’s most direct rival the ID.3 is a newly designed electric car on a pure electric platform. Whilst it beats the Kona for boots pace and rear passenger space, in virtually all other aspects the Kona is equal or beats it, especially the all important range and real time energy consumption, and, in my view, the cabin quality in the Kona is superior. When Hyundai eventually migrate the Kona onto an all electric platform, the results should be even more impressive than the current offering..

Ian WebsellHi @tillyman
yes I copied from BlueLink to show you all how the car has performed whilst on a long journey.
I also charged the car up yesterday , it took 1 hour 28 minutes from 18% to 85% and it was charging around 46-48 kWh on a rapid charge. When it reach 85% there was 318 miles. Charger stopped at 85% even though my car was set at 100% for DC charging ??
As for the price, I scanned my card, to start the charge, but nothing is showing my card as of now 01.32. Which is 12 hours ago since I charge, so maybe it was free ????

Dean BainbridgeI ordered mine, Kona Ultimate, on 31 January 2022. Delivery was estimated at 6 months, end July.
That slipped to August.
Which slipped to “late September”.
Which yesterday slipped to….March 2023.
It’s very, very frustrating.
August 21, 2022 at 11:04 am #194891Sorry to see that Dean – unfortunately it appears to be getting worse again – my wait was 9mths so I understand your frustration – there have been instances of people on this forum who have had their car delivery brought forward again – let’s hope you become one of them.
August 21, 2022 at 2:16 pm #194905The long waits are frustrating and I was pontificating as to what I would do. There was an interesting post from Peugeot Gatwick offering stock cars including the e 208. I quickly looked up it’s spec and whilst it ticked many boxes, the range of 207-224 miles would have been a compromise too far. I think most electric cars have a lengthy delivery time, so changing horses midstream is often not beneficial. A rock and a hard place! The benefits for those waiting to March 2023 is the news they should get the facelifted newer version of the car.

Ian WebsellHi @fwippers
sorry I thought it was tillyman asking.
Yes from BlueLink app. Under more and charging/energy and you journey figures are there.August 21, 2022 at 4:45 pm #194922Hi @fwippers sorry I thought it was tillyman asking. Yes from BlueLink app. Under more and charging/energy and you journey figures are there.
Thanks, I was actually playing around with the app today and found the section. Today on a 2.4 mile run, urban/country roads achieved 8.5.

So sorry to hear that bad news. It is so frustrating and that does seem an awfully long time. The only consolation is that despite its flaws, it is worth the wait.
August 22, 2022 at 2:35 pm #194990When Hyundai redesign the Kona, if they can add a bit of space to the boot, rear passengers and upgrade the interior just a tiny bit, it’ll be the perfect electric car. It’s pretty close to that already and, IMO, worth the wait. Maybe shove the 77kWh battery in it too!

I’m expecting the interior to look like the new Tuscon which will upgrade the interior. I also expect to keep its distinct design language than its sister Kia. I also expect it to be a similar size to the new Nero.
Its raining so couldn’t be bothered to take a pic of my interior, so uploaded one from Hyundai 🙂

MichaelHope you are all well.
Sadly informed today by dealer that our Kona is likely to be May next year delivery.
I ordered in March this year – originally given a date of October. Then telephoned to be informed it was more likely to be Christmas ?.
Further phone call from dealer some weeks later to be told Feb/Mar 2023.
Dealer called today to say May delivery next year ! Plus we chose Black night colour which has been discontinued.
Dealer blamed further delay on the Ukrainian conflict.
Disappointed though much worse going on in the world.
Does anyone know when the new Kona facelift is likely to be launched in 2023 ??
Thanks kindly

There’s nothing definite yet but the later part 2023 is mentioned in many articles.
August 23, 2022 at 9:59 am #195061Hi all – I have to admit I am still getting used to the length of the bonnet – often thinking it is at least a foot longer than it is – which is better than the other way – I suspect it is still building up trust of the sensors – especially where there is a post at the front extreme left or right.
My other question has anyone experienced side front sensors working when reversing – I drive straight in to be in position for charging – but on reversing I often want to swing – but I have a wall on the left – I keep getting closer and closer as I reverse more often – but I have yet to hear the left front sensor – has anyone else noticed this.August 23, 2022 at 10:06 am #195062<p style=”text-align: left;”>Front side sensors go off in mine in my drive but you have to be fairly close to the fence which I usually am, to leave walking space on drivers side for bins etc. I guess about 9 inches will set it off</p>

Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistAugust 23, 2022 at 10:56 am #195066Thanks Struth – yes similar gap for bins – I might put a cushion near wall and test it – it will keep the neighbours amused if nothing else ??
August 23, 2022 at 10:59 am #195067has anyone experienced side front sensors working when reversing
I would imagine its the same setup as mine in which when reversing the front sensors go off i.e reversing out of a parking space. Also if you are in reverse and a car comes past the steering wheel vibrates at the same time the sensors are buzzing.
TBH I’m not fan of it all.
August 23, 2022 at 12:00 pm #195069I welcome all the safe driving aids I have encountered so far – BUT – I am conscious of the fact that driving is a perishable skill – so still use wing mirrors etc when reversing all the usual stuff – aids are useful and an extra layer of protection that aid – not do and take over.
Smart cruise control lane assist ?.
Certainly helps my legs on long journeysSpeed limiter ? definitely helps in low speed areas – especially if you are unfamiliar and looking for directions.
Sign recognition ? – useful when you have missed it – especially with over grown vegetation.
Reversing camera ? – useful for the last few feet.
Cross traffic warning when reversing ? – my neck doesn’t swivel like it used to.
There are others – especially EV related but I have just listed the ones that I find I use most.

August 23, 2022 at 1:26 pm #195078Returning to topic, many safety features nowadays are really useful, on the motorway its like being a pilot on an aircraft, monitoring in case something goes wrong. We soon become accustomed to them. With the sound level set at low, they’re less of an annoyance.
