September 27, 2023 at 3:44 pm #234871Kezo I watch my amazon fire stick on HDMI can I use the soundbox in another HDMI at the same time or is it just for normal tv ?
Sorry Mike I should have gone into more detail With Q cutomomers AV will travel down a HDMI box into the Soundbox and then to the TV.
As a non Sky customer, the Soundbox does not support ARC (Audio return channel) or E ARC, which is in material as I don’t beleve your TV doesn’t support ARC anyways.
Because the Soundbox doesn’t support ARC, you will need to connect it to your tv via Optical. Doing so will allow all your apps, Fire stick audio to go through the Soundbox.
Your TV should support Optical and there will be a couple of settings required on both your tv and the Soundback to instruct audio via Optical, which is easy enough.
September 27, 2023 at 5:50 pm #234888Many thanks Kezo although I’ve been on eBay and can’t seeing any going cheap I’m watching a few
September 27, 2023 at 7:53 pm #234898Mike, I have a Samsung TV and Samsung sound bar, they connect via Bluetooth, you can also play music from most Bluetooth devices to the soundbar. It was relatively cheap at around £80. Not sure if it’s suitable for you, but the sound is far better than the TV built in speakers.
September 28, 2023 at 7:27 am #234923Jojoe Thankyou for the reply my tv is old doesn’t have Bluetooth I’m weighing up my options I see curry’s now has a Philips Oled 48 inch at £699 has very good reviews mmmmmmmm Black Friday not too far away ?

Your fire stick has bluetooth so you would be able to connect that to a bluetooth enabled sound bar, it will only work when using your fire stick though.
Do you have an Hi-Fi system, some are bluetooth enabled and you could use that.

My car SEAT Ibiza SE Tec 1.2 petrol TSI 2017.September 28, 2023 at 10:20 am #234953Mike don’t get too hung up with Bluetooth.
Most decent soundbars are capable of being hardwired – ARC, eARC, Optical, as well as wireless. If you were to use Optical with your curren TV. At a later date, when you decide to have a new TV you can then use eARC 🙂
September 28, 2023 at 10:29 am #234954Mike if you really want to go Bluetooth, you can get a Bluetooth transmitter that connects to the audio out ports on your TV (RCA or 3.5mm jack) that will make your TV Bluetooth or a Bluetoth Toslink adaptor. Not always the best way though.

Mike, I’m no expert but I do enjoy quality and I can tell you that technology has moved on hugely since you bought your Samsung. For example, I have just replaced my iPhone 11 Pro Max which was in pristine condition with a new iPhone, and the difference in performance over just four years is staggering.
You’ve been getting excellent knowledgeable advice from a number of forum members for some considerable time especially from kezo, so I think you probably know that what you’re trying to do with your old Samsung TV is the equivalent of putting a sticky plaster on a major injury and expecting it to solve the problem.
I don’t know what your financial situation is so this is just my observation based on the number of posts from you about upgrading, but It seems you can afford to upgrade your TV as you’ve been looking at a lot of TV’s that appear to be in your budget, and have got close to buying one on several occasions…. ‘If ‘….you can get past your reluctance to pay the asking price for the purchase that you seem to really want and need.
As I said, I’m not in the least bit technical so this post is just my own take on your long search for TV excellence.
All the best Mike.
September 28, 2023 at 12:41 pm #234982Mike, the OLED 707 is Phillips entry level OLED (if you can call OLED entry level that is) it has the companies renowned Ambilight, which provides excellent immersive viewing. Looking at what happened last year where prices were cheaper earlier in the year than later but none really fell below £700, so do bare that in mind if you are considering on a new TV. For a similar price there are mini LED available 🙂

September 28, 2023 at 12:43 pm #234983POPS, have you gone for the 15 Pro? I have the 11 Pro and was thinking of upgrading but I’ve read it’s made from titanium and the case changes colour.

I’ve stayed with the Pro Max Jojoe. I wanted the telephoto lens as the view from our house is stunning on a clear day. The default photo is now 24mp and the detail is truly excellent. I won’t shoot much in 48mp pro raw because of the file size.
Mine is Titanium Blue which can look from dark grey to vibrant blue depending on the light. I’ve put an ESR MagSafe armor clear case on it with a built in screen protector, instead of the rather flimsy Apple clear case that I had on my 11. The touch screen works very well even though the screen is totally encased.

Sounds great Pops, I got the standard 11Pro for the wide angle lens, I love doing landscapes. I may opt for the Max myself but I’m going to leave it a few months now as I’ve just had a new battery put in, original was down to 72%, I got it done with the insurance that comes with my bundled bank account, they sent an Apple trained technician out who replaced it in the back of his van on my driveway. But as you said, mine is 4 years old and absolutely mint condition.

September 28, 2023 at 1:51 pm #234993Pops everything you said is true and I feel ashamed after all of the advice I haven’t bought a new tv the LG OLED A2 48 inch came down to £579 at richer sounds I was a dam fool not to have it ! September 28, 2023 at 3:42 pm #235015Sadly as predicted last year is LG have decided not to launch the A3 in the UK this year, leaving the B3 as their entry level model, which boasts a 120hz screen and HDMI 2.1 ports and available in sizes 55″ and above. I believe the rest of Europe gains the new A3 60hz model.
October 19, 2023 at 10:37 am #239163I have started to notice a faint vertical cloudy grey line about an inch wide down the left hand side of the tv screen ! This is being closely monitored

It will gradually get worse mate.
The problem could be a loose or rusty connection or more likely given its age one of the processing PCB’s (T Con or the Cof IC) are starting to fail, in which case unlikey worth the cost repairing given its age and the likely use of a second hand or recon board that could fail anytime.
Was it raining or did you get it wet when you moved?
October 19, 2023 at 12:08 pm #239179No was sunny day Kezo I’m closely looking at it will update later many thanks
