@POPS is that the 11 or 11 pro
It’s taken with my granddaughter’s iPhone 11 keso. I have an 11 pro max which I was tempted to replace with a 14 pro max last September, but because the 11 is still a great phone I’ve decided to wait for the 15 as it’s rumoured to be adding a mirrored telephoto lens and changing to USB connection.
My “little darling” is a gorgeous Maine Coon kitten and I’ve named her Alaska due to her colouring of blue, greys, and white. She is the friendliest and most sociable little thing and is already inseparable from my dogs. They play together all the time and then curl up and sleep together. Last night she went to sleep wrapped round the back of my neck while I was watching tv.
Can you tell I’m a cat person? ?❤️

Finally Apple look like they will be adopting USB C – nothing to do with the EU saying USB C would become standard across all devices ? “Far better way”
Mirrored telephoto lens – are you sure your not DavidBaily disguised as POPS!! I guess your into photography in a big way? keep your 11 pro and treat yourself to a DSL camera, it would be superior to any smartphone camera.
certainly a cute looking cat you got POPS, with a name to match 🙂

January 9, 2023 at 2:33 pm #205394keso,
The last DSLR that I bought was a Nikon D810 back in 2014, with several different lens. Great camera but a hefty bit of equipment to lug around.Funnily enough my first ‘job’ back in the 1960’s when I was still in sixth form was working in a professional studio (evenings and weekends) for a fashion photographer. I got ‘darkroom’ experience, and learnt to use twin lens reflex cameras like Rolleiflex and Hasselblad. I also learnt to use the new single lens reflex 35mm cameras which were then becoming the vogue, and assisted with the lighting for shoots. Sadly my parents intervened when I innocently told them that I’d been developing film from a ‘Spirella’ corsetry shoot (they thought I was too young to be exposed to ladies underwear, lol). That was the end of a budding career in photography, lol.A few years ago I assisted my daughter in law who was a photographer for a well known fashion company. I did the lighting for her and helped with equipment etc. She worked with top models at some wicked venues and I tagged along doing the more mundane stuff including steaming the models clothes. I’ve done some strange things in my time.?

Rolleiflex & Hassleblad, that’s a blast from the past. My first medium format camera was a used Mamiya 220 TLR, hated it. Eventually got a Bronica ETRSI. As for the Nikon DSLR being too bulky, I’ve got the Canon EOS 250. It’s officially the worlds smallest DSLR, very light and easy to carry. I used to work in a photo lab printing colour and Cibachrome prints, that was 30 odd years ago!

January 9, 2023 at 3:40 pm #205407I looked at buying a Mamiyaflex many years ago but decided not to. From your comment Jojoe it was the right decision. ?
January 9, 2023 at 3:53 pm #205408@POPS I have a Nicon D510o DSLR camera with the 18-105mm lens that came with it, along with a 70-200mm & 200-300mm I purchased soon afterwards. Whils’t no the most expensive its a cracking bit of kit and has saved me a fortune agains’t school photo’s since owning it. Infact its more thanpaid for it self.
Ike you say, they are hefty bits of kit to lug around everyday, and it only now comes out for school photo’s or if going somewhere extra special. Thankfully we have smartphones with ever improving camera’s. I’m not aware ofa mirror lense on android yet, but the iphone 15 seems an interesting device, if as rumours suggest it has the tech.
No matter what we dip are toe’s into during our life, It’s valuable experience gained 🙂

January 9, 2023 at 4:16 pm #205413@POPS – I also have my own darkroom, when the lights go out ?
Eventually got a Bronica ETRSI
Was the Bronica a medium format SLR – my first camera was a standard 35mm Minolta AL- F
I’ll take a look at the Canon 250. I take it they still sell them.

Yes the ETRSI is an SLR, but you needed to add a prism viewfinder to use it like a traditional SLR. I got the EOS 250 a couple of years ago but it’s very popular and still made today. It does 4k video and has a 24 mp sensor. I bought it as I was getting sick of carrying my EOS5d which was a very large semi pro SLR.
