My outright recomendation as an upgrade to your cureent phone would be the first phone I recommeded – Xiomi redmi note 10 pro but, I understand you don’t want to pay that money 🙂
What ever you choose @Mike I’m more than happy to assist you with any issues you may have in using one in the unlikey event you need any 🙂

Its not so much a big job, rather more time consuming. If they aren’t busy I’m sure they would do it for you but, charge it first.
My advice would to be to:
fullly charge it
Turn it on and go through the basic setting’s setting up your phone, like language, entering your Wifi password and seeting up a google accoun’t email such as mike11@gmail.co uk. All easy just follow the onscreen prompts.
Allowing any updates by selecting yes and agree the T&C’s
Then take it to the store for them to update any contacts you want, and even insatall the whatapp app for you.
The steps Ive said will be easy for you as your following on screen prompts and nothing to worry about. I’m on here if needed and willing to allow wmc to give my contact details to you.
Which phone have you chosen 🙂

Mike11Do I keep my same number with any phone I get ?
January 4, 2023 at 4:42 pm #204709I’ve just released my iPad links with my iPhone ! I’ve got a lot of thinking to do
My parents and Mrs have an android phone and use Ipad’s but, it depends what you mean by linking.
The other thing thats worth thinking about is, your current I phone is still perfectly useable on screen even though the home button no longer works!
January 4, 2023 at 4:46 pm #204710Do I keep my same number with any phone I get ?
Yes, you just put the sim in the new phone, as long as its sim free and not tied to another provider.
Most phones you buy from places like argos etc are what is called simfree so will work with any sim/phone number.
January 4, 2023 at 4:48 pm #204713I cocked that up
Simply yes you will keep your phone number 🙂

Mike11Thankyou so much for your help yes I can use my phone for now with home button on screen it’s not really a problem the cheapest iPhone SE 2022 refurbished on eBay with 12 months guarantee is £250 with 100% battery health seller has 100% positive feedback no negative ! iPhone 11 going for around £220 private sellers

Mike11When I get email on iPhone get same on iPad and photos on both
January 4, 2023 at 6:47 pm #204736When I get email on iPhone get same on iPad and photos on both
Fore example if your email is Mike@whatever.com you can set it up on any platform regardless whether thats android apple or blackberry. On Android you need a google email to be to access google playstore. you only put it the once and don’t have to use it, in a similar way you do for your apple account. I don’t use google gmail for my everday emails.
So take my mum for example and her email is mum&hotmal.com or mum@whatever.com. This email is set up on boyher her ipad and her android phone so she can read emails on whatever device she has at the time.
So not a problem doing that. The same also applies to whats app etc. If youget what I’m saying with all my babble.

ajnI’ve only used iPhone/pads, so can’t really compare..
however the expense of this stuff I think is madness, Mrs aj & our off spring have no problem upgrading so I simply use anything left over..

I wouldn’t discount private sellers if they have good feedback as long as ebay provides full moneyback protection on that listing.
Refurbished can mean 101 things – from wiping it over with a cloth, checking the phone works to replacing a smashed screen (be wary here because it will be a generic scrren often at lower quality than the original, it could even mean a good phone is made up out of sever defunct phones or replacing the frame with a generic one. It could even mean it was faulty and has been repaired etc etc. The list is endless.
I wouldn’t look too much into a seller offering x guarantee. Very often it will require your phone returning to them where they will repair it with used or generic parts.
There was also cases of sellers selling stollen phone a few years back so whatever you do I can’t express the importance of Ebays money back guarantee.
Remember a business seller is out to make a profit, whereas a private seller will in most cases be at a more realistic price which can proove to be a very good purchse at a reasonanle price.
The Ipone 11 was apples flagship that came out in sept 2019 and likely to offer superior specs to the SE 2022. Either way SE 2022 or a mid range android will be more than capable for you needs.
No derespect Mike but, I do think you need to think and set a price point and stick to it, rather than going from upto £250 to around £100 and Then £79 regardless of what platform you choose lol. If not only for your own sanity 🙂
I’m more than happy to help on anything and perhaps put links up of what you have seen in shops or on Ebay.

I thought I saw you had sneaked in 🙂
Without a doubt the left overs are the best way, in this crazy world you buy something today and its out of date tomorrow.
Is your phone one with the big screen notch like androids of old ?
Anyway back to kezo being serious and helpful. Have you noticed ?

Tbh if I was in Mikes position I get the Argos thing and learn to use it..saddly my 8+ has a new owner otherwise I would’ve posted it off somehow and he could’ve had it..

Very posh ajn and very kind of you to think of Mike.
There isn’t as much difference as there use to be over both platforms, so not really alot to learn.
The thing youve got to understand with android is for evey Iphone flagship that comes out there are a dozen android after that spot, the main one here is Samsung, but theres others equally as good. Then take the midrange Ipone SE, there is even more android manufacturers after the best midrange spot. At the budget end of androids you get even more wanting to take the best spot. With Iphone theres no competitin so prices remain high, whereas with android the competion drives the prices down. Its not because they are cheap tat but, purly how markets work. Although you have to be careful at the budget end. Oh and they don’t have the massive screen notch ?

Mike11Tonight is the night my nieces husband doing resets on my iPhone ! My niece has an iPhone 10 X I’ve just been reading very good things about this phone was first iPhone with OLED screen going for around £160 on eBay ! What’s this GB 64 or 128 ? What does that mean can you store more photos with more GB ?
January 5, 2023 at 9:49 am #204798What’s this GB 64 or 128 ? What does that mean can you store more photos with more GB ?
You have answered your own question, yes the more GB the more photos/video you can store.
I think its still worth remembering the 10(x) is still a 5 year+ old phone that you would be buying of someone you don’t know (different scenario if got it from a family member) it will be at or near the end of recieving IOS updates.

AnonymousPlus with many phones you can add a micro sd card to expand the memory and store your photo’s on that. That way if the phones dies then you just remove the sd card and slot it into new phone or transfer to your pc.
All you have to do in most occasions is go into settings of the camera and change where they stored and choose external device over internal.

If I can just add to this: The older the phone the more prone it is for something to go wrong or the battery is near it’s EOL requiring further outlay to put it right or the need to buy another phone depending on the issue.
My honest advice is – stick with your current phone whils’t its still useable and save an extra £150ish ontop of the initial “up to” £250 and treat yourself to a new SE 2022 or a good 2022/23 mid range android which will have an Oled screen and decent specs and the latest version of ios/android.
At least you will be the only owner and know how its been treated/not had any work done, along with a manudacturers warranty.
By all means slip your nieces or her husbands phone in your pocket later on 🙂
Exaxtly @AtoB_Dude!
January 5, 2023 at 10:33 am #204814I have an iPhone SE 2020 with 128GB memory, the phones operating system will use some memory, as will any apps, photos, music or videos. To give an idea on my phone I have 3,051 songs, 440 photos and 63 apps and still have 65.08GB available from the 128GB.

ajnThe advice above is good advice buying new at an affordable price, however if your like me the androids are difficult to master (we’re all different) then I see and understand the problem..
Personally Mike I’d go new, and learn how to navigate around the android..
I must say I’ve never paid for a phone for my own use…
I know one thing the iPhones are a fortune the newer you go..
Shame you can’t have a go of the android phone, would mean going to a shop I guess and that’s just a nightmare with limited knowledge..
My father in law bought a huwali ? Thing lasted him 2hrs gave it to his Son..
