I’ve taken the approach of find dealers that are about an hour away from my house. It gives me plenty of time to get used to the car and what all the buttons do. The alternative is a closer dealer and a drive over the Dukes pass in the Trossachs which is a very fun road that feels like the Alps at times.

I’d honestly say that the Hyundai Ioniq (not the new ioniq 5 that’s a different car) is under discussed. For the small AP the equipment you get and on the hybrid the MPG you can get its an under appreciated car. It has a cavernous boot and is very comfortable. I plan to write a small review about my 3 year experience with it and post it here so that the car can get some recognition to the wider community.

@DumfriesDik thanks for the info, I’d read a little bit about it but I’ll do more digging

@DumfriesDik no I don’t have it yet, my ioniq was a self charging hybrid.

Personally for the Ioniq I’d go hybrid as the full electric has a fairly small battery, although if you don’t need huge range and are just nipping to local shops than I’d go electric.
When I drive small distances in my hybrid my fuel economy drops to about 38mpg, longer runs ( 2.5 hrs to see family) I can’t get 50+mpg.
It all depends what you’re going to be doing most.

@fwippers, this is the dealership I got my current car from and they were happy to let me order early as such because they trust me and also if for any reason I were to cancel there’s more customers than cars. So they can’t fully process the order til March but the car has been ordered on the Hyundai side.

Hey @fwippers I was told “roughly 6 months” although I’m not sure if that’s true.

This is what “jungle green” looks like according to Hyundai’s website.

Thanks for the help @Garry I’ve found a way around it and found an installer that would fit it.

gt premium should have a heated steering wheel but the ap has just gone up around £600 on q1 however the vauxhall mokka which is the same car comes with heated steering wheel and heated massage seats on the ultimate spec and only £200 ap for the electric one
Yeah I was eyeing up the mokka, I’m just surprised that the 2008 doesn’t have it.

Here was my previous car a Skoda Karoq 1.6 diesel, it was a very comfortable car to drive long distances. The colour was the best bit.
Looks like you missed the British Home Stores closing down sale.?[/quote by quite a few years I think

@Xz130 would a car with roof rail/rack help at all?
I hadn’t thought of that

That’d be putting them in the boot, which isn’t an option.
it’s mainly for ease of access as I use them to get from the house to the car and short(<50m distances).

Get a car with a SKI Hatch in the rear seat and slide them in length ways down the centre of the car
good idea. ?

Entirely depends on what you want to pay, and how “much” car you want. Tucson Ultimate PHEV is great, but is quite big and quite expensive. ID3 is great, but is currently not available in top specs. Not sure what you mean by casualty in regards to the Kona though, the Kona EV certainly seems to be on the scheme still? edit: nvm, might’ve misunderstood you. How long are the crutches, and do they need to fit the boot or do you throw them on the rear bench?
Yeah sorry I mean that the kona is a casualty 8n that my crutches don’t fit. My crutches are under arm style so quite long, in my ioniq I can wedge them behind the front seat and rest them against the rear headrest. The id3 was a great fit for my needs but I couldn’t order before it was taken off the scheme. I don’t mind if they lay on the floor between the seats but fitting in the boot is not really an option. Thanks for suggesting the tuscon

The Ioniq infinity system is great in my car. I’ve never once been approached by anyone thinking I’m a cab. With previous experience of a bose system I’d say they are great systems but can be a bit bass light and very neutral systems. Honestly if your daughter likes the car than she should go for it, the only reason I’m not is that it’s just a bit low for me but I’m considering staying with Hyundai and going for the Kona

I’m moving from a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq and as great as it is for mpg and hybrid driving its a very boring car that I’m sure a taxi driver would love. I’m due to change my car in march so I’ll have to wait and see if anything fun gets added.

This is the new Ssangyong Rexton. I’m not a fan but some people love them.

Just out of interest, what cars would you put in the fun catergory? I’m a similar age to you and there always used to be plenty of cars I liked on the scheme. I had to rule a lot out as they were too difficult to get in/out of but they were there. Obviously I’m talking prior to 2020
I’d probably put the Toyota gr86, the Hyundai i30n(it’s a big car but sporty-ish) the Hyundai kona N, maybe some of the bigger Alfa Romeo’s. I know ride quality diminishes with sportiness but some cars with better ride handling would be nice.
