Yes that was me! No visibility of car beforehand, but just told it was here, pick it up. I really hope all your cars start arriving in the coming weeks, I do feel very lucky that – for whatever reason- mine has happened to arrive (despite the further distance for it to travel to get here!). Honestly have no idea what’s happening!
Thank you guys – she’s here!!!! I’m in mild shock! He said Volvo have been a disaster behind the scenes, and the cars he’s been handing over so far have been Jan/Feb orders but Dec orders aren’t here yet. He wouldn’t give me more than that I’m afraid 😟. No newspaper to hand but here she is!
Just got a call there to confirm that my car is still ready for collection Monday morning, and that it’s being valeted and washed today in anticipation of collection so it’s physically there by the sounds of it! Will keep you posted and send that proof of life pic 😜
That’s nuts! Did you get the email from motability at any point also today your car ready?
Proof of life 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yikes, have been watching with interest. Just an update from me, as far as I know my (new) handover date remains as Monday, instead of yesterday as planned. However I have now also got an actual email from Motability informing that car almost ready to collect and to contact dealer. It’s just a generic, automated one but it gives me a bit more reassurance that something is actually happening if now both Volvo and Motability seem to be linking up somewhere in the background on my order. Again, it seems so odd that I’m in NI, and allegedly getting it first (not the norm here 🤣) – where is it coming in from!? Can’t imagine through the Republic, for various reasons you are probably all familiar with i.e Brexit! But then who knows?
As you know I was due to get my car tomorrow however the guy has just called and said it has to be pushed to next Monday as there is a 48 hour stop on deliveries of motability cars (something to do with the taxing/registration of the vehicles). So its a bit disappointing but at least I’m getting some for of updates and what sounds like (I hope) imminent delivery, which is more that what it sounds like many of you are getting! Will keep you posted, I have a horrible feeling Monday could also be pushed out at this rate!!
Oh my goodness! I’m in shock! That feels like a massive case of ‘computer says no’ instead of just…common sense!
Update!!!! Just got a call to say my car is IN! Going to collect it on Wednesday! I’m in shock that not only is it not delayed, but it’s early! The sales guy said they got a bumper load of motability cars on very short notice! And don’t forget I’m in Northern Ireland so an extra ferry ride on top of you guys, so fingers crossed you’ll get your calls very soon!
I know, right?! ??♀️Good luck to you, other Steph ?x
Here is the comms I got ?♀️ Basically ‘we know nothing, you’ll get your car when you get it and we won’t have updates for you’
My actual salesperson is an annual leave till this week, I had sent him an email last week to enquire about the status of order and got an OOO. So assuming he replies this week (maybe he won’t as we call got ‘the letter’ from the showroom manager), I will press him for info on the MY24/25 piece and report back, I’m sure I won’t have been the only one to ask for that upgrade on here!
Interesting: I am paying an extra £750 to upgrade to the microtech upholstery…for MY24 obvs. If I end up receiving a MY25, presumably I can ask them not to charge me the £750 if that ‘extra’ when ordering has become a ‘standard’ on the car I’m now likely to receive?
Hi John,
I ordered on January 11th, delivery date was to be May 22nd.
Agnew Volvo (Belfast, NI)
I got a long winded letter – that didn’t actually say anything of substance – in the post from Belfast Volvo yesterday. Will try come back here and post pic of it later but basically it said thanks for order, they are here to support during new car journey but that they can’t guarantee delivery times….so I strongly suspect (as we all have done) that my mid May delivery time is not happening….totally unprecedented to get a letter like that.
@LBTN thanks for that. I ordered on Jan 7th and was told 22nd May anticipated delivery date at that time. Haven’t heard anything since so I’m probably same boat as you. However how long does it take to build a car?! I have a feeling if only actually being built in May, it could be more like July/August when received (even at earliest, as the Port Issues still exist!)
I cancelled in the morning and my online account showed immediately that I could order again (which I did, a few hours later)
I had a similar issue and posted on here a couple of weeks ago about it. Basically I cancelled the car a week before it was due to arrive as tbe APs were much higher when I ordered. Cancelled the car and ordered a new one (different make, but one I had preferred but it wasn’t on programme when I ordered) on the same day. All fine! Yes, going to back of queue but for the sake of saving £1000 and getting the car a call actually want, I’m ok to wait for another few months! Good luck!
Hi all, many thanks for your replies! I can confirm that I managed to cancel my Kia and order the Volvo! Made sense as over half the AP of my Kia and the car I really wanted (plus have been driving a Sportage for 8 years…ready for a change!). Of course have to wait until around May now but i don’t mind and Motability said no problems at all to keep my Kia until the new car arrives, as long as you’ve an order in they won’t take the car off you even when you hit the 5 year lease extension end.
