@Darrin Green how are you finding the Renault Arkana in terms of mpg, and overall drive ?
Does anyone else have one of these , if so, how are you finding it? Many Thanks
Hi there, yes I am around 62mpg, I don’t do a lot of long drives mainly 10 to 20 mins, but when I have done drives of like 45 mins or more you can get mpg of high 60s to low 70s.
For small car, it’s very very roomy inside, practical, well put together, loads of tech and features, and drives really well.
For me is the best car in its sector, it’s also won what car , car of the year, three years running
I came from a SEAT atteca SUV.
As there is not many made of the sport, and they can easily sell them all at full retail price, I bought a new Jazz EX in march, went to look at the new sport other the week would not give a penny off.
The new jazz update, is a very mild facelift, you get new bumpers, front and rear, they have tweaked the engine and technology, apart from that is the exact same car before, Yet they have increased the retail price by a few grand.
Having handed back the car on the 1st of March, 3 weeks later I got a small pip payment just under £20, although this was not on my regular 4-week cycle payment day, so I assume they have been informed by mobility that I have left the scheme.
Although just over 4 weeks from leaving the scheme I have had no correspondence from DWP that the mobility component is being paid direct to me, am I right to assume I won’t get a letter regarding this?
And they will just pay my motability component at the same time as my current four weekly payment?
Many thanks
@kezo yes really like the jazz , very comfy , practical, good on mpg , and lots of toys 🙂

hi @kezo I don’t think it’s anything to worry about at all , I hit my front driver alloy wheel into a curb and it was much worse than that , and got my GCB, I wouldn’t bother getting it repaired it’s only a few marks, see a pic of mine below
hi kezo , yes thanks ,really liking the jazz, very smooth drive, small car with the room and feel of a bigger car , plus loaded with tech and safety tech ( ex version ) that other manufactures/cars, don’t have at the price point of the jazz
Hi all, so i left the scheme yesterday morning , mixed feelings.
Just been speaking to MB who confirmed they get paid until and including the day you hand the car back, but i will only get backdated from the following Wednesday after the hand back , which for me will be from the 8th March.
So i will loose a full weeks money ( due to how DWP systems work) , seems a little unfair, is this correct ?
many thanks
Like fuel and mats?, I very much doubt i,t given the way things currently are, but worth asking, nothing to lose, I have done it in the past with success.
Iam coming off the scheme next few week and have ordered an EX privately ,when the EX was last on the scheme a few months ago, for reference the retail price was £24,750 and AP £1,749.00
The retail price of the jazz advanced sport is going to be around £30,000
Jazz advanced which replaces the EX , this will be £27,000 retail price
Thanks for confirming , also am i right to think DWP will write to me about this ?
Churchill, direct line, and privilege all do as they are all part of UK insurance, you have even select motability on their website for your NCB.
I gave them my driving licence number , lowered the premium and did not need to send letter.
These 3 were the cheapest for me.
Also brokers that do Adrian flux and bewiser
As of my latest call with the dealer last week, should be with them around 16th Feb, with the vehicle to be registered and picked up 1st march
Yep 🙂 I know about that, but have not bothered till I go to buy, was just getting a couple of prices locked in for next 30 days.
Going to re do quotes on Monday as according to money saving expert website, 23 days before needing insurance is the best time to do, for lowest price
So just to update, u-k-insurance.co.uk brands Direct Line, Churchill, Privilege all accept claims history letter for NCD, whats better doing a quote online lets you select Motability for your NDC. if need be, you can select modification and just tick due to disability.
On like for like on the main things
Adrian flux want £484 , plus 500 on a claim
Churchill £312, plus 400 on a claim , and some other add ons included that you don’t get with AFThey said it was them giving the discount not the actual insurer i think. Having spoken with Adrian Flux insurance they would turn claims free driving into NCD , and the price given is competitive .
Normally all metallic paint options are free on MB
January 29, 2023 at 8:25 am in reply to: got invoice with price payed price now taken car home now garaged want more ££ #207698Putting the invoice aside for a sec, do you agree that there is a £740 short fall I assume they have shown you other documentation to prove this?
If you wanted to I suppose you could always make a good gesture to them and go halfs if you wanted to
Given you have been told and agreed the price of the extras and have the paper work, and that has made you decision to take the car, in my view there is nothing they can do.
Given your contract is with MB and not them, I would tell them to take it up MB as you have no contract with the dealer, and tell the dealer in your view you have met the terms of your lease contract, and fulfilled all payments needed as per your lease agreement terms official written documentation.
Ultimately unless this type of situation is covered in your legal agreement which I very much doubt it is, there is nothing they can do.
I would ask the dealer and mobility to point out in your lease agreement where a situation like this is covered, where a dealer can ask for more money when you have agreed the price, paid the price ,got your invoice, and car.
For good measure I would raise a complaint with MB.
If a dealer cannot be bothered to double check their finers, well tough look.
From a different angle if you was a private buyer, you went to look a car are agreed the price over the phone, paid that same price putting on the invoice, took the car away, and they triy and demand more money , haven’t got a leg to stand on
Hopefully should be hear middle of next month, will pick up scheduled 1st March
Having spoken with RSA I have over 9 years , so will be putting/giving that, for companies which see claims history letter, as NCB
When taking out insurance using the claims history letter of 9 yrs ( with a provider that accepts it for NCD), when the policy comes up for renewal a year later , would that renewal document then show the appropriate NCD of 9yrs?
When getting insurance quotes online/phone , do they do a credit search on you ?
TIA
Sorry for all the questions just trying to get a good understanding of it 🙂
