Another insurance question from me 🙂

I see some insurance sites and compare sites, ask if you want to input your driving licence number , what are the advantages or disadvantages if any, of doing this ? many thanks

It allows them to check your licence is valid and for any endorsements on it.

It allows them to confirm you have been accurate with information provided to get a quote.

Some people in the past have had claims cancelled when licence checks have been done.

Doing it early saves any of these issues if you make a claim.

DVLA developed a service known as MyLicence which lets insurers see your driving records automaically and so they say give you a more accurate quote based on your records.  They say it removes errors inputting the information yourself, such as speeding points etc!!. However it is not mandatory to input you licence number.

Personally I’m more than capable of inputting any information correctly and would never give my licence number on compare sites for security reasons.

What are you putting as your NCB ?

Having spoken with RSA I have over 9 years , so will be putting/giving that, for companies which see claims history letter,  as NCB
