I would have another five-star safety rating scenic
Just noticed Megan E Tec Iconic has gone up from £395 to £895 which still remains a v good AP imo
I Paid £1295 AP 15 months ago and on release in 2022 it was from memory £5000+
Is Toyota giving the bZ4X a new name?
Is Toyota finally ditching the bZ4X name with new electric SUVs en route?
Enjoy
And not a single car to get me excited. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but why does electric need to be do boxy and ugly.
Agreed
Thank goodness we still have the likes of imo the sleek sexy looking Megan ETEC that breaks that mould
thats the smaller battery, the bigger one gets up to 360miles. My only gripe is that I dont have a driveway so wont be able to charge from home and only possible in public spots which there are nearby – however will it be a mistake to get an EV on that basis?
Simple answer is imo yes it would be a mistake
Need Home charging to be viable imo or if when public charging comes down to 29p

The EU has a mountain of such cans and imo far too many Achilles’ heels
Without getting into politics to deeply
I feel a series of Avalanches are nigh

December 21, 2024 at 2:01 pm in reply to: .Govs genius master plan to cut emissions/encourage people to buy EVs #295253The carmakers have launched a rearguard lobbying effort to persuade the UK government to relax the mandate, but now find themselves pitted against car charger companies, fleet owners and environmental campaigners who argue that climate targets and billions of pounds of investments will be under threat if the UK government backtracks.
I am still surprised with huge fines looming that ALL APs at this point have not been dropped to Zero
Simple math imo

December 15, 2024 at 11:50 pm in reply to: EV3 Now here is a car thats worth looking at once it gets here. #295037EV3 ALL COLOUR OPTIONS
Hi, can anyone answer this question, I am about to order the Skoda Enyaq Sportline Plus but with the addition of the advance package would i have to pay a deposit because i’m adding the advance package ?? thanks in advance for any information
Reading further down I see that you are living in a HA property that as yet hasnt even granted permission for a charger to be fitted or perhaps not even yet been approached by yourself
On top of that you do not have a dedicated parking space.
These matters can be complex and drawn out at the best of times and I would suggest running these proposals past your HA before you even consider ordering an EV
Keep us updated
December 15, 2024 at 9:53 pm in reply to: .Govs genius master plan to cut emissions/encourage people to buy EVs #295034The government has already suggested that the ZEV mandate targets need to change (what a surprise – shame they were the last to realise 🤔) and there is a fast track consultation to recommend how to revise them. They haven’t yet woken up to the fact that the 2030/35 deadlines are completely unachievable, so that is a can kicked down the road for now. Just as you can’t force people to buy cars that they don’t want by imposing penalties on manufacturers, you can’t force house-builders to build houses that there aren’t enough buyers for. There is no doubting that we need the houses (in fact we need far more than the target for both current U.K. residents and the additional migrants that will undoubtedly come to the country over the next 5 years) but how many of these people can afford to buy houses? Most potential first time buyers don’t stand a chance of affording property in major swathes of the country, existing homeowners with fixed term mortgages will see large payment hikes when their term ends, buy-to-let landlords are offloading properties rather than adding to their portfolios due to tax changes, and local authorities don’t have the money to buy them to add to their social housing stocks. It’s all basic supply and demand, which this lot seem not to have even the most basic grasp of.
Well put
Much is still uknown at this point but I suspect going forward the main hurdle to be met is that there may well be little appertite for builders to want to build afforable housing on such scale if there is less profit in doing so.

In my foolish youth I brought a 6 month old Morris Mariana 1300 maroon coupe, what a horrible car, slow, uncomfortable and handled like a wheel barrow on iceHad to mention this as your post is the only one in history that Ive come across that makes mention of the Marina ( just kidding Im sure there must be one or two more lol)
I worked with 2 brothers who both brought the same Ercol furniture and same new car the marina at the same time although one brought the ( the dearer one was it a delux or such like) model
As a younger apprentice travelling many miles as a passenger my not so fond memory is that the car was so boring and bland and without character ( This could also well describe the 2 brothers lol)
My overriding memory is of those new type silly poke your few fingers in door pull back/latches/handles that on first use tangled my fingers shutting them in the door to this day unsure how, bloody painful and had to work the whole day with a throbbing hand.
One of the brothers had a huge bin lorry back into it and it drove off
Once sorted and repaired it then got T Boned and wrote off handles and all lol
Payback lol
The other brother sold his after 2yrs for more than its purchase price (true) and being self employed he was quite indignant when Hmrc wanted to tax him on the profit of sale lol
I imagine going forward this will be an offer for all exsisting 3yr contracts
But wonder if/when we will see a 5yr min contract brought in for all new contracts

STOP! Times up 🙂
Being a ginea pig for a brand new model is bad enough imo without it also being their first EV ever
You have 1hr Greg 1hr 🙂
This has highlighted why I will never have an EV or a plug in hybrid. I’m a wheelchair user the system isn’t set up for wheelchair users heavy cables parking spaces not wide enough. Where the cables are they have curbs around them so can’t reach easily. You would think in this day and age disability would be a thought but still obviously not even a second thought as usual. I couldn’t deal with the low range and constant worry and planning I have to plan enough as it is at times.
If you ever reconsider then check out sainsburys smart charge

Name and shame is my motto
I love firing off emails/phone calls when idiots cross my path
I have tbh also had a couple of scheme cars that I got bored of mainly because the drive experience in the first year had diminished in a couple of cases this was simply because the tyres had 6000 miles of use which in both cases threw the steering set up out completly ( new shape nissan note 2015 and bmw tourer)
Having had the Megan E Tec for 15 months now ( 7000 miles)
I can say hand on heart that it is the only car I have ever driven (both scheme and private) that still maintains that first drive feeling everytime I get in and drive it.
The car is a Joy
I will miss it like no other at the end of my lease
But me being practical above all else
I will then be looking at the most efficient/suitablr cars available
Things are changing at a pace
The Kia EV3 if/when available is my top pick at the moment but at the speed of new offerings who knows whats going to be around the corner in 18 montths time.
