Well after skidding off the road and into a grass verge at 60 the car (Renault Scenic e-tech Alpine) has been written off due to battery damage, luckily no injuries other than a pathetic seven-hour call-out time from the RAC. Now we have to choose another car, and looking at the selection, there is not much choice in terms of size or price. Looking at the Enyaq Sportsline or Edition 85 is the Sportsline worth the extra £1000?
I am open to other suggestions but has to be full electric and around the same size.
Cheers all and have a good New Year all.

If you liked Google operating system, how about another Scenic?
January 2, 2025 at 12:39 pm #295640Did think about that but to be honest we just use Apple CarPlay most of the time and with the new price at £1895 there;s not much in it between the Enyaq Sportsline and the Renault. The boot layout was also another problem, although it’s not far off in capacity how it’s made up makes a big difference as it’s very very deep so not as functional to use and when you use the boot riser kit it takes a big chunk of that off.
January 2, 2025 at 1:07 pm #295641I would have another five-star safety rating scenic
January 2, 2025 at 7:24 pm #295672Enyaq has the same rating so probably going with that but thanks.

Check the Enyak threads, theres a few who have pesky problems
January 2, 2025 at 8:01 pm #295674yeah problem is though no car is problem free and you always hear of problems before praise. Renault was good but had a few problems along the way.
January 2, 2025 at 10:12 pm #295685Renault’s available in stock
Glad your ok

Renault usually iron out their main problems aftee the first year of production
Worth noting imo
The Enyaq was first made in 2020
Food for thought? but it seems you had already decided
Hope the Enyaq works out for you

Yes I see that
According to reviews and user reports, some potential issues with the Skoda Enyaq include: charging system faults causing power cuts, a somewhat “thumpy” ride due to its weight and large wheels, inconsistent touch sensor functionality on door handles, occasional glitches with the infotainment system, and potential range anxiety depending on driving conditions; however, many consider it a reliable car with no major recalls reported overall.
January 3, 2025 at 8:35 am #295698ID.4 Match Pro (inc. 4×4) is in the same AP range, bit marmite on the interior & their continued use of silly capacitive buttons etc, personally I preferred the Enyaq over it on my test drives (but ended up choosing an Ioniq 5).
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
January 3, 2025 at 12:40 pm #295713Thanks to everyone for your input after a good look around this morning definitely going to be the 85X just got to decide on a colour now.
January 4, 2025 at 2:40 pm #295776Easy. Black!
Or Race Blue!!
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue
January 4, 2025 at 4:13 pm #295778I have the 85x, bare in mind if you’re wanting it for the all wheel drive it isn’t permanent.
If I was choosing Skoda again I’d look at the 85 Edition or the new Elroq Edition, virtually the same car with an AP of only £999
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 4, 2025 at 8:35 pm #295785Went up to DM Keith today and looked at both and much preferred the styling and the seats in the 85X. As for colour that’s not so easy but looking like it’ll be the Graphite Grey or Race Blue with Taurus wheels, looking for delivery week 10 or thereabouts.

January 5, 2025 at 11:19 am #295799I see on the Skoda website there is a new version of the Enyaq immenant which may mean prices go up when it happens. It would be sweet to order at the old price and get the new car!

January 5, 2025 at 1:52 pm #295808Enyaq 85x may have prevented your accident that was exactly what happened to me in the ZS so I wanted AWD plus electric so only one choice at the time
A few people have niggles sure and a couple have had real bad problems but loads of us have none as evidenced on the Enyaq thread same as with any car I’ve seen plenty have issue with the Scenic too.
85x has “better” seats I preferred them to the standard ones plus AWD. I don’t know why anyone’s making an issue about “permanent awd” it’s as permanent as you want it to be switch it on not hard it’s on in Sport and Traction modes. We live in a rural area with untreated roads and mud from farm vehicles so the awd has been a God send so far and the car just feel glued to the road. Plus it’s fast too you can be super quick away at junctions leave the idiot boy racers behind without trying much like when I had a V6 Ghia X Mondeo estate lol, loved that car too.
The app is fairly basic can’t lock or unlock sadly but it’s good for most other things esp setting the car to be ready at x time so the cars warm, seats hot, steering wheel hot and battery at operating temp too.
It’s the best car I’ve ever had in over 25 years of driving the range is superb, charging speed at rapids is incredible (11 miles a minute) when at full speed.
I don’t like the tiny instrument cluster much prefer big immersive displays like the Ioniq and Renault but it’s one thing. Wish the 85X had come with the HUD instead of hiding it in a pack too.
I got mine in black and changed the stock bonnet badge to a glossy black one and it looks incredible.
Also without the travel pack the boot is absolutely cavernous. Get luggage and 2 dogs in there or luggage and mobility scooter. Back seat is wide enough for 3 adults altho I wouldn’t want to do a long journey that way it’s comfortable enough for 2x 18 year olds and a 16 year old. There’s a floor tray that lifts out leave in for extra storage or lift put for more foot room for 3.
It’s not perfect but it’s a lot of car for not much money and it basically drives itself too adatlptice cruise control with road sign recognition so it speeds up and slows down with no input is brilliant too and works really well

January 5, 2025 at 2:33 pm #295811Part time AWD isn’t all its cut out to be imo, having to thumble through heavy laden munu’s to turn it on or change driving mode, whils’t in a skid isn’t the best thing to do. Then there’s the Tyres which play a bigger part but, many of the toy AWD cars (I have one) come fitted with summer tyres rendering them almost useless in these situations. Antilock breaks and driver control plays another part but, it isn’t always easy to control a car one in a skid.
Parttime AWD helps with understeer oversteer when exiting a bend for example, if you wan’t more from part time AWD you need proper tyres which are costly, If you wan’t the best 4×4 is the way to go but, even then accidents still happen.

January 5, 2025 at 3:48 pm #295820As above, the AWD is available full time in Sport mode and up to (I think 20mph) otherwise. However, tyres make a much bigger difference in this sort of weather. A set of Cross Climate tyres will transform the performance.
I have the factory fitted Bridgestones on my 85x which are perfectly good in the dry but not great in the wet. Had them on my previous Ateca and they were useless all year.
Unfortunately Motability will not allow a change to cross climate or winter tyres unless it’s at your own (quite considerable) expense.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 5, 2025 at 6:46 pm #295831Looks amazing in black and even the boss lady thought so! Really like the gloss black bonnet badge. We’re the same live in the wilds of Lincolnshire so lots of mud and assorted animals jump out at you and as you say it’s easy enough to enable AWD.
The Scenic had quite a few problems really really bad reversing camera resolution and the wireless charging pad was useless couldn’t charge the phone quick enough when running anything. Whole system had to be reset to factory defaults on more than one occasion as it thought it was a toaster. When we had the accident had zero dashboard warnings not even that we had tyre problems although one was completely flat so not impressed.

Skoda normally changes modeld years around week 39/40, so maybe sometime before you see the new model.
