I think anyone caught drink driving should have there car taken from them, and banned for 10 years. Far to many think it is ok to do this, don’t care who owns the car they will soon learn not to do it again.

Someone can get caught tonight arrested, then out driving tomorrow again, appear in court about march time banned for 12 months. Do a course and back behind the wheel in 9 months.

I don’t understand how the police can say they seen you on your mobile phone, what proof have they provided. If you were driving and they were driving why did they not stop you.

I don’t think they can just say I seen him/her on there phone without evidence of this. I would be asking for the proof and the evidence of the offence, before doing anything.

A lot of the time people drive into water, stop when they realise it is too deep. They then reverse and it goes up the exhaust straight into the engine.

I don’t have an electric car but do have a street light outside my house.

Is that a street light it is plugged into? Is this something that is available in London charging from chargers built into street lighting.

You have to drive on the other side of the road.

What would motabilty do with them at the end of the 3 years. Second hand electric cars are not the most sought after vehicles at the minute. People are scared of them.

Did anyone see the bit in the news about the 2 guys in Scotland at the weekend who went out in their  Tesla and it was raining. The car wouldn’t start after they came back to it. Tesla have now said water has got into the battery and they want £17,000 to fix it. No ifs no buts if you want it fixed that’s the price.

Yes Mike, you can. Unless your current car has done very high mileage, a simple phone call will allow you to extend the lease. They will ask if you want to extend for one year or two. Always say two. You will then effectively have between now and March 2026 to make your decision on whether to go EV and which car to order. You can order at any time within that period, you don’t have to wait 2 years, so the pressure is completely off

you don’t even need to phone them to extend you can do it online. As for miles that does not seem to matter anymore either I extended for 2 years online and they didn’t ask about mileage.

I thought Seat were no more, did VW not say they were stopping producing them this year. Some models were to be rebranded under the Cupra brand. Both Seat dealers have already closed in Belfast.

What I said about the street light was a joke. Not a lot of charger’s available in NI.

In Belfast you just hook up to the closest street light. I will give you an example of N.Ireland charging for cars. Newry and Mourne council have 36,000 car parking spaces of that amount they have 2 spaces with electric charging which have not worked in 3 years. Lidl are building a new superstore at carryduff it will have 2 electric charging car park spaces.

Would a 7 seater with the rear seats folded down not have quite a large boot space.

I don’t think they do, most cars coming in to N.Ireland come into a place called warrenpoint the boat to there comes from heysham. I think their is a lot of road transport involved.

Every VW comes with carpet mats as standard. If you can get it serviced somewhere else do that. Plenty of mats on eBay worth the money.

If you order a car now that might take quite a while to arrive, I can not see many dealers agreeing to give you the price they said in a few months time.

I’m afraid your knowledge of the NHS Salary sacrifice scheme is about as accurate as the Telegraph’s reporters knowledge of Motability. The savings from the scheme come from sacrificing salary before tax, national insurance and Pension premiums are taken out. As with other schemes the main benefit is to higher rate taxpayers, however most NHS workers dont pay higher rate tax and so dont benefit to the same extent. To join the scheme you have to earn at least £27k per annum and without extensive overtime the majority of staff dont earn enough.

I dont know where you got your figures from but as an example to lease a Kia EV6 GT Line long range 2 wheel drive would cost £576 per month for a standard rate tax payer. I’ve worked as a Ambulance driver for 11 years and am on top salary but wouldnt qualify because my take home pay would be below minimum wage after subtracting the cost of the lease. So as you can see the Motability scheme is way better than the NHS Salary sacrifice. Please dont do the garbage press’ job for them, if you are going to quote figures please make sure they are accurate.

sorry, you don’t qualify what utter nonsense, explain how an NHS care assistant working in the community qualifies and you don’t, do they earn more than you? I am not going to say on here what I do, but I know exactly how many thousands of NHS staff have cars through the different leasing company’s and exactly how much they pay for them and by the sounds of your salary they would be earning a lot less than yourself.
My figures that I quoted were entirely accurate an e-tron in 2020 was available for £250.00 a month

I did not say their scheme was better than motabilitys scheme. I just said maybe she could do a story on their subsidised car scheme.

Maybe they should write an article about the NHS car scheme, where anyone employed by the NHS from the cleaners to the consultants can avail of a very well funded salary sacrifice scheme. Audi E-Trons where available from £250 a month during the pandemic. And in 2023 went up to £340. Many thousands of cars leased by NHS staff who according to themselves have no money, and go on strike to get more money, yet they are driving about in some really nice cars.
