Anyone else stuck in limboland waiting for their pip to be re-assessed, My pip was up for Re-assessment in July last year, Ive just been told its still not done and they have provided me with another year extension, all very good but not enough time to apply for a motability grant and choose a car so im stuck in limbo with my current car rapidly becoming unsuitable for me. Just a mini rant to see if anyone else is int he same boat.

Wow! I thought I’d been waiting for a long time, I sent my renewal forms back in January and should be able to order a new car from 11th July but I called yesterday and was told they had no idea when it would be looked at. I was told that around 3 weeks before my current claim is due to end they will add a year by simply changing the year on my award from 2023 to 2024 when I asked why they couldn’t just do that now he just laughed, and said the only way I’ll know when they’ve extended it is to call but the last two times I’ve called I was on hold for nearly an hour each time! It’s disgraceful that the government have let the system basically crash and burn. They couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery…. but managed to organise several in Downing Street during lockdown! They don’t care about the mental anxiety waiting for a renewal of pip can be. Unfortunately I can only see the problem getting worse.

Sent my renewal back in May. I asked around to see how long it would take and the time frame was all over the place. Some people it took 8 weeks, others 18 months. Seems like the DWP just pluck random names rather than doing it in some kind of sensible order.

I’d just be happy with the extension letter at this point, then i can cancel my current order (Astra) and pick a car more suitable.

          Car History:
          Ford Fiesta
          Vauxhall Astra Mk6
          Mazda 3
          BMW 2 Series Coupe
          Mercedes A Class
Vauxhall Astra Mk8 (Lease ended early)
          Renault Austral

If you get in touch with your local MP they will get an answer for you the next day. It seems to take someone like that to contact them and they will do it immediately.
