Ive noticed a problem with the original thread, taking me to page 1 of the thread. Assuming its the same problem as my original Brexit thread (stolen by WMC lol) that there were too many pages, i have started another weather thread (stolen from lightbodyae55 lol).

Another dull, windy & rainy day here 13c
May 28, 2025 at 11:10 am #305922Varying between clear/bright and cloudy/dull. 20C at the moment. Reckon it will clear up a bit (as per Met Office) so hopefully I’ll get a chance to mow the lawns – a long-overdue task.
May 28, 2025 at 11:36 am #305929The weather has been great though for a while, managed to get some camping, water edge pitch so fishing and some outdoor relaxing in the sun tent side, bbq and the odd beer too..
That was until a big storm 2.30 am caved in 3 different pole sections on the tent, what a laugh that was, my Son collapsed the rest of the poles, I drove the Volvo front wheels on to the end of the tent save it blowing away, across the road to the shower block for cover, all good fun looking back…
Even awnings were being pulled from vans, stuff blowing everywhere 😆💨⛈️🌧️🌬️🌬️💦🌩️🏕️🏕️🏕️⛺️..
Weathers now undecided, hoping to return soon
May 29, 2025 at 8:12 am #30596614*C, heavy rain with strong winds.
Feels like winter 😞

May 29, 2025 at 4:18 pm #305988Never stopped raining today 😞 strangely mild though at 17*C

May 30, 2025 at 4:48 pm #306017Dry cool but windy, easy night for me i think, youtube, coffe biscuits and crisps as a treat
May 30, 2025 at 6:35 pm #306022Started dull, grey and chilly. But 15C soon became 20C, skies cleared and we’ve had a good, early Summer day. Much watering called for – we’ve got over 50 pots, basket and window boxes. Ran out of time to finish the mowing, mañana…
May 30, 2025 at 9:33 pm #306033Tharg it would be good to see some photos of your pots. I’m a keen gardener but I’m not very good at it.

@Brydo Will be delighted to supply pix of pots – when they come into flower. All still in the “promising” stages at the moment. Will hunt around to see if I have any from last year…The secret with pots, boxes etc., is threefold:
1. Water the buggers, regularly; unlike flower beds, they get virtually no moisture from rain.
2. Feed them as well, once a week
3. Deadhead them regularly to get even more blooms
May 31, 2025 at 12:21 pm #306044May 31, 2025 at 5:23 pm #306046It’s been a mix of gray cloud and slpashes of sunshine here, The wind has been quite strong throught the day. No rain today.

A perfect 21c and the sun will stay on our courtyard area until 8pm. We are having a ‘Paella evening’ with Tapas and Cava and Rioja wine. Dining outside with good company is a real pleasure. Cheers guys and girls.
June 1, 2025 at 8:18 am #306066June 1, 2025 at 8:24 am #306069This was a new “hanging bag” thingey we tried out. Dead easy to fill and put up, look great but are a real sod to water. Irrigation has to go in very slowly or it just spills out of the top. Wouldn’t recommend.
June 1, 2025 at 8:37 am #306070Front again, window box is centre right.
June 1, 2025 at 8:43 am #306071Purple petunias doing very well and hiding their hanging basket! Feeding and dead-heading really, really does boost the number of flowers you get. That’s all the snaps for the moment. Will post more if I find anything interesting enough.
Weather today – 18C right now will probably hit 22/23C like yesterday. Met office site shows small but friendly clear sun for most of the day – no cloud.
June 1, 2025 at 9:02 am #306072Put this one up because it shows the effect the pots. baskets etc. have on the whole front of house. Brightens the whole thing up delightfully. We actually get requests from delivery people and passers-by if we are a bit late getting the display under way.
June 1, 2025 at 10:35 am #306083@Tharg thanks for the tips, the flowers look brilliant. I’ve ordered garden ready plants online but they don’t arrive till the end of June 😞
Very heavy rain last night and this morning but bright and sunny just now.
Hope the rain keeps off as planning to fix a few ridge tiles on the roof this afternoon.

By the time we left at 12:30 it was sunny, warm and really quite nice, typical!
Now back home, son and cat fed, ready for a nap (having stuffed some Tramadol down!) and the weather outside is very sunny & warm and looks lovely!.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
June 3, 2025 at 11:13 am #306183Fantastic looking pots there Tharg, looks great well done..
Cheered me up after a night of hard rain, not to cold and just started the brighten up out there..
I love seeing hanging baskets done by people who understand the process, for me if I want them I’d have to buy em, they never go to plan some how😆
June 3, 2025 at 11:51 am #306185Absolutely tipping it down here, very very windy as well. 19*C but it feels colder

Thanks to all of you for your kind words about our pots, baskets and boxes. Must confess that the hanging baskets are bought complete/filled from local farm charity which caters for disabled youngsters. Very lucky to have this facility to hand; they really deliver 100% – tried doing baskets ourselves but found that quality of mail-order and garden-centre plants was rubbish. Up to 50% of them simply died. Moreover, the farm baskets have water-retaining blocks inside really help the thirsty beasts. Overall, hanging baskets are trying to grow loads of stuff in a tiny amount of soil/compost and need special preparation and special plants to stand a chance.
All the other stuff – boxes, floor pots etc are DIY, mostly home-grown from seed or items salvaged from previous year and persuaded to survive the winter (no greenhouse!).
