Ive noticed a problem with the original thread, taking me to page 1 of the thread. Assuming its the same problem as my original Brexit thread (stolen by WMC lol) that there were too many pages, i have started another weather thread (stolen from lightbodyae55 lol).

Is that expensive ?
November 20, 2024 at 7:46 am #293623I plugged my smart meter in to check before I went bed I don’t normally have it on but just thought I’d check how much it cost
November 20, 2024 at 8:16 am #293624Brisk frost this morning; garden thermometer doing -2C right now. Carol says it will soar to +5C after lunch and be bright and clear. In temperatures like this, I appreciate the EV’s ability to “pre-heat” itself for half an hour. No more scraping windows on freezing, slippery mornings.
November 20, 2024 at 10:21 am #293631Gloriously sunny, absolutely 🏀 ✔️ -3*C no wind but what a beautiful day.

Does pre heating take miles off the range ?
November 20, 2024 at 11:09 am #293638Straight from the internet Mike
Yes, preheating your car can affect its range, but it can also help you achieve maximum performance:
Cold weather
In cold weather, preheating your car’s battery can help it maintain its performance and charge more quickly. Cold temperatures can slow down chemical reactions in the battery, causing it to drain faster and produce less energy.Heating the cabin
Heating the cabin in cold weather can drain your battery, which can reduce your range. However, preconditioning your car’s climate control can help you achieve a comfortable temperature when you enter the vehicle. The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.

November 20, 2024 at 11:16 am #293640-2° out door. No frost and very dry with a light breeze 🌬️ that makes it feel even colder. Lovely day, sunshine ☀️ that blinds you because it’s so low in the sky. Mean while, back at the ranch, it’s a cosy ♨️ 19.5° Thanks to Tado’s Geo fencing.

Dunno how much yet. Only had it four days and haven’t been able to get any readings which will mean much. Aside from making it instantly comfy, it also saves risk to my knackered backbone since I don’t have to stretch over that ridiculously long windscreen to scrape it.

Bits of rain, increasing to steady wettery by lunchtime. Wind is the major factor. General speed is averaging 30/40mph. Gusting to 60mph. Not very nice at all.
