Ive noticed a problem with the original thread, taking me to page 1 of the thread. Assuming its the same problem as my original Brexit thread (stolen by WMC lol) that there were too many pages, i have started another weather thread (stolen from lightbodyae55 lol).

January 11, 2023 at 11:33 am #205647A beautiful sparrow hawk. I’ve got one that sits in the bare branches of a tree at the bottom of my garden. Even though they look stunning they are very active killers of small birds and rodents, but that’s the food chain within nature. My local Robin keeps to the front Garden when the hawk is around.
January 11, 2023 at 11:40 am #205648Its a lovely sunny day, for now, following a full day of rain yesterday. Sun glasses on in the car.

ajnSudden change in the weather it’s raining hard now, wind gusts too,
pops would you say that is that a mature female, or a younger bird..
we also have a goshawk twice the size of this, wipes out woodies with ease..
January 11, 2023 at 1:01 pm #205662Looks like a mature sparrow hawk in it’s prime. (I’m no expert though)
The only birds that fly in the vicinity of my garden when the sparrow hawk is about are a local colony of crows. The collective noun for a group of crows is “murder of crows” and they fly mob handed and chase him away, lol. It’s quite a sight.

ajnYes, regularly we’re woken by the jackdaws, crows, magpies and even gulls causing a commotion after a pray attack..
safety in numbers I guess..
Thunder & lightning
January 12, 2023 at 10:28 am #205787Strong winds and heavy rain both through the ni.ght and this morning.
Living up a mountain in a fairly un-sheltered you don’t get any rest from the constant battering of the winds and rain lashing on the windows.

BrydoAnother freezing cold but sunny day
January 18, 2023 at 10:54 am #206571
BrydoFreezing again today but unlike yesterday it’s not sunny, a bit overcast, but thankfully this cold snap is forecast to end on Friday.
Yesterday, on a bright sunny cold day, my old solar panels provided 7kwh of electricity which is more than I used in the house in the entire day. Not bad for central Scotland in the winter.
January 18, 2023 at 11:23 am #206577Snow this morning, more expected later, bloody cold
Schools closed whch is normal these day’s – How do they think we use to cope walking to school in snow blizzards etc!!

DafA covering of snow and like Kezo said cold. On the way to work ended up going downhill sideways but managed to bump into kerb which slowed me down. Roll on the Summer!

JRR Tolkien spent a lot of time here with his great friend C S Lewis. They walked the hills and fantasised about imagined kingdoms created by the vistas that surrounded them. Today is one of those creative days. The sun is shining in shafts through gaps in grey and white clouds. Bredon Hill stands black and forbidding yet the fields between it and the Cotswold escarpment are dappled in brilliant sunshine. The bright light is sharply contouring woodland and fields and the occasional farmhouse, and the only sounds are the rustling of leaves and birdsong. It’s another day in paradise.
January 31, 2023 at 11:42 am #207987Just cloudy with some blue sky and some light rain here
