I currently get around 48mpg from our Mazda 6 tourer 2.0 petrol
So if I can get the same from a 2.0 tdi I’ll be happy especially with the amount of torque it has and the Seat handles better than a VW
The AP on our Ateca is about £800 less than the r line dsg and the Tiguan r line no 4 drive either
But each to their own because it would be a boring place if we were all the same
Plenty of SUV variants available
At good specs and prices
Hope the OP can read through all this and get the vehicle they want

June 25, 2020 at 11:51 pm #116102The Tiguan with the £600 cash back off all models was the bargain suv when the discount was running nothing came close.
We got ours with 4wd and dsg full size sunroof reverse camera key fob opening and closing rear hatch, massage seat premium infotainment, virtual cockpit full Intelligent led cornering lights and it’s been faultless.Seat has always been Vag groups cheaper brother there also was no option for a reverse camera in the seat.
June 26, 2020 at 12:16 am #116105I had the £600 JCT offer, ordered an R-Line Techin February for delivery in May. As of last week it was looking more like August/September with no firm date.
A local dealer in Newcastle told me they had one so cancelled the JCT order so they could place theirs. Two days later they rang me and told me they didn’t really have one at all. So now no JCT order with Motability and will have to wait until July 1st to start a new order.
The original order for the JCT Tiguan is now saying “In transit” so it may be here sooner than expected and if I still want it they say I can have it. But, it’ll be at whatever the Q3 price is.
Failing that my local Seat dealer has 3 of the Ateca Xcellence Lux in stock, not as nice as the Tiguan but they do have the reversing / top view camera and as a bonus a heated windscreen which I really like 🙂
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
June 26, 2020 at 12:37 am #116107The Tiguan is getting old now and you may be better off getting a more up to date model vehicle.

Clipped wingsChassis, engines, Drive train and electrical systems are all virtually identical. Taracco firmest suspension tuned for sportiness. Built by Vw in Wolfsburg alongside regular Tiguan, Touran.
Allspace built in Mexico, as is Audi Q5 and merc GLB. Ateca built by Skoda alongside Karoq and gets first facelift with big improvements to tech and tinsel followed by Tiguan shortly.
Touran sadly unlikely to see much updating as iD4 and Buzz, Skoda Enyaq are the future. Touran is best of lot for my requirements and dithering between a new one or lease extension until an ev is on the schemeJune 26, 2020 at 8:06 am #116119
Clipped wingsPeugeot 5008 is highly rated by magazines. Guess as you can hand it back and maintenance is free, is it worth a punt? Huge boot, lots of kit, but an adversity to most things French! Back in the day I did fly a Falcon exec jet. Unnecessarily complex but handled like a dream
June 26, 2020 at 8:06 am #116120On honest John the only economical Ateca is the 1.6 diesel
June 26, 2020 at 9:47 am #1161235008 may be your answer, Clipped Wings, sort of half way SUV half way MPV, so looks SUV, but inside its a tardis like an MPV, Peugeot copied much in the rear from the Picasso, same seats, same side panels, no intrusions etc etc, so a very decent load space. Loads of kit in the right trim and very well put together. Grip control gives you all weather tyres, great in winter and guaranteed like for like at kwik fit, so a saving there if you currently sort out your own winter tyres.
You’d need to test drive one as the small steering wheel may put you off…
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

Rather puts my PPL and (admittedly small) share in a PA28 Warrior to shame!

Clipped wingsThanks Abercol,
will check it out- did sit in the then new 3008 3 years ago before heading off to Vw to see the Tiguan and emerged with a Touran order! Small, low steering wheel might be beneficial as have chronic shoulder injury in addition to other woes. Wife copes well with easy to drive Touran so that is another consideration
June 26, 2020 at 12:57 pm #116140@Clipped wings couldn’t agree more with your thoughts on the Touran. It’s all the car I need and have considered another one or extension. But also have that itch to try somthing different.

Clipped wingsHi big Dave,
Was flying execs to earn a crust having been furloughed by big. Airways for a second time. Early 1980s. Fear for 1200 former colleagues being laid off, plus thousands around the world as there is nowhere to go. I never had a second string to my bow and was lucky that medical issues didn’t strike until late 50s. Couldn’t get in or out of your Warrior Now! Trained on the Cherokee in the early 70s. Sad to see the end of the 747 having spent 22 years on the Queen of the Sky’s

Clipped wingsHi Newyork,
it’s tough to beat and although APs low, pana roof now even more expensive. Need winter pack for heated seats and other for me essential items expensive. Will see what new prices bring next week.

Clipped wingsjust checked out the Tarraco. Higher AP but includes nearly every extra needed. Panoramic roof option £300 less than identical one on the Touran. Same factory. Price gouging VW. Guess for most customers represents a small bump to their lease deal. Different story for us. High spec offers seem best value. Kodiaq seems relatively poor value as kit quite stingy these days. The New ateca would be perfect With a bigger boot.
June 26, 2020 at 2:52 pm #116154Hi Clipped Wings. The SE Family has the pan roof as standard. And now features the 1.5tsi 148hp petrol. This would be my model of choice if motability would include it. £899 for SEL is a bit of a bargin. Paid £1199 for ours but got £500 off ftom JCT back in 2018.

Clipped wingsThat would certainly suit. Need DSG. Mine was £1499 now £1099. Local dealer in Poole unreceptive to discounts. Might try Southampton. Do like the SEL seats.
June 26, 2020 at 3:13 pm #116161Touran SEL seats are super, it’s just a comfy and quiet (petrol model) car overall.
The car I think closest resembles it would be the new Merc GLB. Small foot print 7seater. Currently the car I want most. Fingers crossed motability. I’ve got until next January to wait.

Citreon C4 PicassoJune 26, 2020 at 5:43 pm #116170I sat in the GLB just before lockdown and it’s a lovely car. However I think it’s too expensive for the scheme given the price cap.
It’s a pity the Allspace SEL doesn’t come with the DSG gearbox on the scheme as that is also a very nice and practical car.
June 26, 2020 at 6:41 pm #116179<p style=”text-align: left;”>@Elliot not sure were the caps at, at the moment. BMW 3 series starts from, just over £31k and is on. Just wishing for GLB, it’d probably carry a high AP but it’d be worth it.</p>
