Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Congrats on making a decision and placing an order soul777, hopefully all goes well.. The situation Glos guy has listed I think might have happened to me. Waited almost 9 months after being told longest and at the worst would be 3.🙄 At the time we had no transport due to our car written off while parked up unattended. We resorted to hiring when needed to stay mobile, I even stood across the road and phoned the dealer one time, saw him look at the phone and put through to another lady who stated my sales man wasn’t in that day 😆🤣, what a surprise that was as I entered the showroom still listening to her with the salesman still seated, makes me smile even now.. Never ever had any updates, build slot info, delivery time, first time order what a nightmare, I’m now onto the 2nd mot, 5 year extension and they don’t stop contacting to place an order to get it back lol. Anyway great car I’m loving my xc40, and tbh I think I just had a rough time of it…
thanks for your reply @ajn . Sounds like you’ve at least had a good experience with the car.
I remember when I was a teenager and my dad was totally ignored in a Mercedes showroom – he went out and bought an E30 BMW 325i convertible- great to have happened in hindsight as my brother still has that car. I don’t understand the attitude of some people. It’s life I guess. Is another XC40 on your shortlist or do you fancy a change? It was a friend of ours who has had numerous Volvos persuade us to get this – our first Vovo ever. I have to say, the current AP, helped that decision – lol.
Yes, fingers crossed it goes well and we get the car as planned in Feb. All the best.
December 3, 2024 at 8:44 pm #294479Soul777 I had lots of cars however My Wife and Mother of my children passed her test and the only cars shes had & wasted were Volvos due to the safety aspect of them.
First Volvo owned 16 years, px for another Volvo owned 14 yrs, written off as mentioned ⬆️.
Motability xc40 into the 5th yr now, yes I’ll be getting another Volvo it seems lol..
Guess like marmite it’s a love or hate thing..

December 10, 2024 at 9:26 am #294774Hi all,
I’m interested in the XC40, but would want to add some extras (rear tinted windows and 360 camera). Do Volvo allow options to be added? If they do allow options to be added, is there any room for negotiation on options cost?
December 10, 2024 at 11:07 am #294783we ordered the 360 camera as a £545 factory option. After having seen it on a test drive, my wife loved it and wanted it.
Tinted windows I believe were offered by the dealer as as a local service but we decided against it.
We hopefully get our car in Feb. Can’t wait.
December 10, 2024 at 5:37 pm #294796Hi all, I’m interested in the XC40, but would want to add some extras (rear tinted windows and 360 camera). Do Volvo allow options to be added? If they do allow options to be added, is there any room for negotiation on options cost?
You can add any factory options that you like to any Motability car, but you have to pay for them in full (less any discount – see below) but be aware that if, for any reason, you have to hand the car back early, whilst you will get a pro-rata refund of the advance payment, you don’t get a penny back for any optional extras.
As for discounts on options, yes it’s perfectly possible but is at the discretion of the dealership. The last car that I added options to (a BMW) I got 15% discount off the options, so no harm in trying to negotiate.
December 10, 2024 at 6:28 pm #294800Thank you all. I went with the XC40 black edition which comes with the tinted rear quater as standard with the 360 camera in the end.
I was told if I was adding on more than just the 360 camera, there could have been room for negotiation, however I didn’t see any benefit in the sound system upgrade, driver assistance add on, towbar or spare wheel (as I have a friend who works for a Volvo parts supplier who can get it at dealer cost price for me).
I test drove a B3 for a couple of hours and really liked it, even with it being the lower powered vehicle than the one on the scheme, it drove well.
December 12, 2024 at 2:39 pm #294898Tempted on the xc40 black edition also @MrTea, not sure about the black wheels though, tbh don’t like them it’s actually stopped me ordering..
December 12, 2024 at 11:38 pm #294925I think it’s quite the marmite car. I didn’t like them when I saw them online, however when I saw them in person I liked it. I actually went in with the idea I’d be going for the Plus dark with additional options, however seeing the car in person sold it to me.
December 13, 2024 at 5:36 am #294927Morning MrTea, recently had my car mot’d/serviced and was hoping to see one in the showroom, however not so, massive showroom filled with ev’s, coffee/drinks bar, T-shirts other stuff, I would’ve thought one should’ve been in there, one good thing I had this as they carried out the work..
December 13, 2024 at 5:37 am #294928December 14, 2024 at 9:31 am #294982Would any one know what model/s xc40 is available on the scheme at the moment, only if you know and don’t mind sharing the info reply pls, my contraction level isn’t what it used to be and I simply become disinterested trying to fathom out websites, schemes and everything else thrown in, it just adds confusion to me personally..
Is the B4 2ltr mild hybrid still available.
December 14, 2024 at 9:44 am #294983Oh also when is the best time to order, ie what month are the new plate/models due out thx

when is best time to buy? Depending on your circumstances- the current AP is comparatively very attractive so we took advantage of ordering now.
Additionally if you are eligible and if so take advantage of the New Vehicle £750 payment which expires on 3 January 2025.

December 15, 2024 at 1:32 pm #295015Hello again so if I decide the colour and whatever, what’s needed to take along with us place a new order at the dealership, only 2nd time for me, and the first time I can’t remember any of it other than lies and promises, is it rude to ask to cut all the pleasantry sales type garbage, and have a quick placed order, no coffee or biscuit bs..
I hate all the Good Morning tie adjusting false sales pitch nonsense..
What paper work will I need to order, if you don’t mind sharing the info..thx
December 15, 2024 at 5:09 pm #295017What paper work will I need to order, if you don’t mind sharing the info..thx
I would suggest first logging onto the motability site and starting the process of ordering the new application. It will save you a lot of time at the dealership.
Our local Volvo dealer asked us proof of how we qualify for Motability (PIP/ DLA) and also driving licences for all the named drivers. A quick call with the Motability specialist at your local dealer I would advise to check and make sure that person is available to book your order.
Choosing colour was the most difficult for us. Look at which options you want beforehand on the Volvo website e.g. 360 camera, spare tyre, rubber mats etc to save you time.
Good luck.
December 15, 2024 at 5:42 pm #295019Thanks Soul777, I’m going to dig out my paper work and follow your advice, last time we went to the dealership (just after Covid relaxation), so probably the longest way to do it, exhausting.
December 16, 2024 at 4:53 pm #295057I wouldn’t worry too much. My experience of being a MB customer for 24 years is that they’ll want to deal with you as quickly as possible since you’re not that important to them. They used to need evidence of a qualifying award but that’s done online now via your MB account. Just bring your driving licence(s) and you’ll be out the door before you know it.
December 16, 2024 at 5:17 pm #295060Music to my ears @onelegleft..
I would suit me fine to order without getting out of the car, drive through McDonald’s coffee type service..Thanks 🎄👍
December 16, 2024 at 8:07 pm #295071My first visit to the Volvo dealer was just me looking at the car and deciding a colour. Then I made an appt to order one which took 20 mins to complete. Then, 7 days later I picked the car up. It was all super-fast. My sales guy was totally on the ball in all regards. Got me a car at the docks, no ‘Motability customers to the back of the queue’ nonsense at all. Can’t fault the experience.
December 29, 2024 at 11:50 am #295451Hi all, I have 2 questions about the XC40 I hope someone can answer.
I was looking at the mild hybrid and I wondered how the pre-heating of the vehicle worked. I heard in some cars it will turn the engine on, but if you have on street parking, this is illegal to do without you being in the vehicle. So if anyone can clarify this would be great.
Also, does any version offer the 360 camera, or do i need to add that on as an add-on at the time of order? I know there is the black edition, but I can’t see if that comes as standard with it.
Thanks all 🙂
December 29, 2024 at 2:15 pm #295454I can’t answer the question on preheating but maybe a current owner can? @injector ?
The 360 camera is a £545 add-on option, which we have ordered as it’s very good.
December 30, 2024 at 9:37 am #295467The remote start warms the interior by starting the engine.
December 31, 2024 at 5:40 pm #295546Hello fellow Volvo enthusiasts,
I am writing to share my recent experience with the Volvo XC40 Black Edition I recently ordered and will keep you updated on my journey and experiences.
Upon entering the showroom, I was immediately struck by the striking appearance of the Black Edition. It stood out among the other vehicles on display, including the fully electric EX30, the XC40, and the XC90. The all-black interior exuded a sense of luxury and sophistication.
The Plus trim package offers a range of impressive features that I believe will enhance the driving experience, particularly in urban environments. The lightweight steering wheel and ease of maneuverability were particularly noteworthy. Additionally, the reasonable boot size and the convenient shopping bag holder were practical additions.
I am confident that I have made the correct decision, as there are numerous options available within the SUV sector. Good luck to us all and happy new year
