Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

It went well. No issues at all. I’ve done approx 30 miles today and am liking the car.
October 27, 2024 at 9:36 am #292427Wondering if anyone on this forum has had issues with failed auxiliary drive belts. Been reading on it on the XC40 forum.
We have decided to order an XC40 next month and are hoping they have solved these issues.https://www.xc40forums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3987&start=60

The XC-40 B4 Plus Dark in Cloud Blue (which either looks white, grey or slightly blue depending on the light).
October 27, 2024 at 7:49 pm #292451I’m tempted on getting that car, are the wheels standard order, or did you add them as an option.
I’ve got the 70 plate b4 inscription pro, going in for the 2nd mot end of October after extending up to the 5 yrs.
Somethings holding me back from placing the order, lacking leather seats with option of colour, no crystal glass gear selector, the interior seems really dark in there, love the colour you’ve chosen, looks great, I’m going to have to book a test drive I guess, Thanks for the reply

The 19″ wheels are standard on the B4 Plus. It also has suede leather seats trimmed with a suede-looking textile. It’s a dark interior though if that bothers you – black seats and black headlining. The gear selector is leather. Not sure the crystal one isn’t a little bit cheesy?

The glass gear selector lights when dark to injector lol, we had cream leather which seemed to brighten up the inside, I’m living the paint colour you’ve chosen, talking of being dark the Wife likes the all black version, black everything even wheels, rear windows and lettering 😳.October 27, 2024 at 11:18 pm #292461

It’s quite cool, especially the black wheels and black badging. If I was getting black I would probably get that one rather than the standard black even though it costs £500 more. I don’t buy black cars anymore though. Sick of the way they show scratches and swirls.
October 28, 2024 at 3:58 am #292464Yes totally agree with that injector, I’ve had two black Volvos spanning over 20 years almost, think she’s had enough her own way now..
wise colour choice you’ve made, looks great..

Hi Everyone,I collected a XC40 Black Edition on Saturday 23rd November and already I have found a few problems with the car.
The virtual cockpit has a green line across the screen, I have reported this to Volvo who have confirmed it requires a £1000 replacement screen, they want me to bring this in tomorrow for inspection before they order the new part.
On top of this, after walking around the vehicle today to triple check for any other issues I also noticed that both rear lights have a small chip on the glass on the corner… I reported this to Volvo today who said they would take a look tomorrow but after they checked a few models in the dealership they all seem to be ‘imperfect’, meaning the small chip I have found on my two rear lights is what they class as normal. Can anyone who has recently collected their Volvo advise if this is in fact normal or should I be pushing Volvo to replace the lights… as you can imagine when collecting a brand new car you expect everything to be perfect and brand new. I’ve attached an image of both problems as I’m not sure if I’m being over picky (for the small chips).
Thanks
Zak
November 26, 2024 at 3:52 pm #294068Hmm. I haven’t looked so closely to notice the chips….
Will have a look later.
November 26, 2024 at 8:35 pm #294080Wow you did well to notice that! I’ve never looked close enough to spot anything so tiny. TBH it seems pretty trivial, I wouldn’t waste the time and effort arguing with the dealer . It’s a great car, just enjoy it 😊
November 27, 2024 at 7:23 am #294091I don’t think that damage is trivial at all. It’s a brand new car and should not be delivered with any damage whatsoever. Once I’d spotted something like that it would really bug me. There’s obviously a batch issue or a manufacturing fault where the lights splinter when installed. Either way, I’d expect Volvo to replace both light fittings without question.
November 27, 2024 at 9:03 am #294097How unfortunate for you Zakar, obviously would’ve been spotted by the experts, and just pushed through to you…
I hate this put up and shut up attitude of modern day life..
incompetence, ignorance and acceptance is something that shouldn’t be digested when it comes to a new order such as this, it could just go on to be one thing after another with this cr@p
Best of luck..
November 27, 2024 at 12:18 pm #294128Hi Everyone,
Just got back from visiting the dealership, they’ve taken pictures of both the rear light chips and the faulty virtual cockpit and have advised they will send it onwards to Volvo warranty to see if they approve the parts being changed…. They told me the virtual cockpit was almost guaranteed but there not sure if the rear lights will be classed as ‘acceptable’. I did share my disappointment and will be contacting mobility to keep them updated.
I guess it’s just a waiting game now until I hear back from the dealership.
Zak
November 27, 2024 at 3:17 pm #294147Looks like the thin, sharp edges of the lights get damaged in their boxes before being fitted to the cars. I haven’t used my car for a few days but will be going out later so I’ll check my lights for damage.
Even though it’s trivial it still shouldn’t be deemed acceptable if someone points it out to the dealer (most probably won’t), not on a Dacia let alone a £40k Volvo.
November 27, 2024 at 6:14 pm #294159I checked my car earlier and both rear lights are perfect. Hope you get it sorted.
November 27, 2024 at 8:25 pm #294165Well personally

November 27, 2024 at 11:31 pm #294170Volvo want to be classed as a premium brand, therefore exceptable isn’t good enough!
This should have been picked up by quality control before it left the factory.
December 2, 2024 at 8:34 pm #294429Hi all, we just placed our order for the XC40 today. I asked the dealer for the Volvo ID so I could track the cars build though the process but he said it’s just for retail customers and they can’t provide as Volvo’s customer is Motability.
How have others tracked their order and ensured extras on the car have indeed been ordered?
The salesman told me he would send across the order sheet in a couple of days. I want to make sure extras are on the order sheet.
I’m slightly paranoid wanting to ensure the order has indeed been placed, given the attractive AP, as I have heard stories of dealers not putting though orders of ICE cars until they have met their quota of EVs.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
December 2, 2024 at 8:39 pm #294430I got my car within 14 days of ordering it so I shouldn’t worry too much.
December 2, 2024 at 9:10 pm #294431Thanks @Injector. We can’t take delivery till late Feb when the 3 years are up on our current MB car. My wife wants the 360 camera and thus I want to make sure the car has been ordered correctly.
Hope you are enjoying your car. We thought about Cloud Blue but went for Crystal White.

You are right to be suspicious. What the dealer is saying is BS. I have never known a dealership refusing to give an order tracker number for any other reason than they don’t have any available build allocation slots, and therefore intend to ‘sit’ on your order until they have a slot open up, which could be a month or two away. Showing you an order document does not mean that the car has actually been ordered, nor does it showing on the Motability system confirm that it’s been ordered. A tracker number however usually does, as it’s only generated when the order is placed with the manufacturer. This is why it’s always wise to ask a dealership if they have any immediately available build allocation slots before placing an order with them and, if they say yes, tell them that you’d like an order tracking number within a day or two. Hopefully the salesperson is just a bit of an idiot, but I’d be suspicious that they haven’t ordered it if they spun me a yarn like that.
December 2, 2024 at 11:37 pm #294435Thank you @Glos Guy. Most helpful. 🙏🏽
December 2, 2024 at 11:48 pm #294436Congrats on making a decision and placing an order soul777, hopefully all goes well..
The situation Glos guy has listed I think might have happened to me.
Waited almost 9 months after being told longest and at the worst would be 3.🙄
At the time we had no transport due to our car written off while parked up unattended.
We resorted to hiring when needed to stay mobile, I even stood across the road and phoned the dealer one time, saw him look at the phone and put through to another lady who stated my sales man wasn’t in that day 😆🤣, what a surprise that was as I entered the showroom still listening to her with the salesman still seated, makes me smile even now..
Never ever had any updates, build slot info, delivery time, first time order what a nightmare, I’m now onto the 2nd mot, 5 year extension and they don’t stop contacting to place an order to get it back lol.
Anyway great car I’m loving my xc40, and tbh I think I just had a rough time of it…
