Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

well i collected my xc40 0n friday, its a totally different to drive compared to my old seat ateca. i did ask the salesperson when my car was built and it was built on the 27th march which is before the build date i was given via email from the dealership she cant understand either how this happened, she did say that volvo thought they would shift 6000 xc40 on motability in the year, they sold that number in 3 months which took volvo by surprise. and i think they are still trying to catch up, whether that is true i have no way of knowing but it does sound plausable to me. hopefully volvo will learn from this fiasco for the future.
June 4, 2024 at 9:28 am #279073Congratulations Jeff on collection, happy driving 🙂
Thats 4 out of 40 just on this thread who have been lucky enough with the Volvo lotto.
Hope all are well, and keep posting updates when you get them as this seems to be the only way we find anything at all out! ☺️

June 4, 2024 at 9:45 am #279074Well done Jeff 🎉🎉
There seem to be some Mercedes dealerships posting cars now available on the Motability scheme! Apparently there’s some reason it’s not showing up on the Motability website yet.

June 4, 2024 at 11:01 am #279088Just spoke to Sytner Mercedes and told at present the most I’d wait for a CLA shooting brake is 14 days.
Appointment booked for tomorrow! AP is high but.. I know Mercedes seats suit me so will test drive then mull over the extra costs.
June 4, 2024 at 1:04 pm #279101Had a few mercs in the past privately. Seats are decently comfy. The gla I had as a hire car last year. The boot won’t get a folded wheelchair laid down. Kept hitting my head when reaching to close the door. Just wasn’t for me. Volvo beat it by a mile for my height and high enough to get in. Coming from a Range Rover where I can jump in. Be sad to see her go.

Let us know what you decide UncJ, did they say when they’d be live on MB website?
What’s the AP on the Mercs?
I really hope you like your test drive and finally get your car!
I assume you & @nshaw haven’t heard a peep off Volvo?? ☹️☹️☹️June 4, 2024 at 1:36 pm #279106Sorry just to answer my own questions
Yes Merc is now showing on MB website with AP’s from £3,999 to £7,999
Interesting 🤨
Do I wait for my build date of “11th June from Feb 2nd” decisions decisions.
June 4, 2024 at 1:37 pm #279107MrsL83 – Mercedes seems to be live on the Motability site now!!
Had a Quick Look at the GLA 😀
June 4, 2024 at 1:54 pm #279109AP is £3999. Funny thing is, most cars they’ve listed are whether it’s the lower spec models or the higher AMG Line Executive models. 🙃
It’s way more than I wanted to spend but I reckon I can beg, steal & borrow to raise the extra and after what would be an 8 month plus wait for my XC40 … assuming it even turns up when they now say it will I thought stuff it, if I REALLY can get it within a fortnight I’ll go for it if it’s right. After all, over a 3 year lease assuming I do my normal 10,000 miles a year it will work out a similar price to the Volvo with the better fuel consumption. Also .. as the Mercedes comes as standard with tinted rear glass I’ll save £200 there against the Volvo. 😉
My major doubt is – did the person I spoke to know for certain that MB customers are allowed to order stock cars? I guess I’ll find out tomorrow. Asked to test drive both the CLA & GLA and told no problem.

Ive just looked at the GLA, test drive booked.
the only thing niggling me is engine size.. not as though I whizz up and down motorways but I’ll see how it feels, why don’t you book a test drive? No harm, see how it feels xJune 4, 2024 at 2:05 pm #279111MrsL83 – Mercedes seems to be live on the Motability site now!! Had a Quick Look at the GLA 😀

Really good motor actually despite being a 1.3. Had one when my last MB GLA went in for a service and was impressed. I’d say it probably drives very similar to the 2.0 Volvo performance wise but with better economy.
Make sure you try the 200 and not the 180 though, 180 is same engine but with a lower bhp map. Both are exactly the same price.

Ive just done the same, again AP higher than I wanted but I can do it, I’m new so I get the £750 new car pment too, the engine only being a 1.3 is a bit off putting, the Volvo is 2.0 but like I said I’ll see how she drives, I’m going down tomorrow at lunchtime, he seemed to know his stuff on the phone and told me 10 Days maximum drive away! Which I found bizzare.
I did live chat with MB to no avail of any help on giving Volvo a ear bashing, she just said there’s wait for mb and private cars Bla Bla
Let me know how you get on UncJ xx

Do you look at the Motability Scheme information Support FB page the dealers were saying immediate delivery on some models! Let us know.

Could do but I’m going away today so unable to test drive for another week! Also taxi to Gloucester is expensive!!
June 4, 2024 at 2:11 pm #279115@nshaw @Uncj did either of you put a cash deposit down at Volvo?
I put £500 down as he said all Volvo dealers ask for this to have the car built. So my AP is 1499£, minus 750£ new car P, minus my 500£ so on collection id just pay £249.
Just wondered if this was the norm x-

No, didn’t see that. I did notice on the Mercedes MB price list .pdf it did seem to indicate stock cars in the small print .. I might have interpreted it wrongly though. Will let you know how it goes tomorrow. 😀

No not this time, I’ve been asked in the past and I just shake my head and laugh. Even though you’ve paid a deposit you shouldn’t have any trouble getting the money back, especially the way you’ve been treated with the ridiculous wait.

June 4, 2024 at 2:28 pm #279130I’m new to motobility and get the £750, I am wondering if to look for something else. I used the £750 towards the volvo, if i chose to go else where can I still use the £750?
June 4, 2024 at 2:32 pm #279131Yes you can use the £750 towards a different order. Just make sure your current order is cancelled before ordering.

June 4, 2024 at 2:36 pm #279132Ok thank you. I really want the Volvo but really struggling with no vehicle at the moment and with them having no idea how long they’ll be, I don’t think I can hang on waiting for them much longer.
