Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Shameful thing is, Motability should care about this situation and their Customers, but obviously don’t!
May 10, 2024 at 5:21 pm #277267Just got a call there to confirm that my car is still ready for collection Monday morning, and that it’s being valeted and washed today in anticipation of collection so it’s physically there by the sounds of it! Will keep you posted and send that proof of life pic 😜

Yay 🎉 so excited for you Steph 😀 Enjoy
May 10, 2024 at 5:26 pm #277269That’s right Steph, proof of life or it didn’t happen. lol 😂
Hope everything goes really well for you on Monday as it does sound like they actually have the car. Hopefully you can also pick up more information from the dealer about what’s really going on behind the scenes with Volvo as it sure is a mess.
May 10, 2024 at 6:29 pm #277276This is what I thought, we need an official statement from either of them, there’s 30 of us nearly on this thread all waiting! There must be 1000’s nationwide!
Exactly this. How would we pressure them for this though? Motability should be the first point of contact but I doubt they care from experience.
Hmm 🤔 to be honest UncJ because there are other cars we can access quicker I’m sure it wouldn’t become an issue to them,
I thought why have the media (Tv/Newspapers) not got hold of it and the problems with the cars stuck in front of them…
It’s just not big news is it! But getting your lips and boobs done and being called Katie P is headline news LOLZ
May 10, 2024 at 7:30 pm #277281I have asked the question about my May build and MY24 v MY25 today and the reply was that my car was confirmed as MY24 and will arrive as ordered!
So I’m confused about the retooling, is that 100% correct? If so then I’m not sure how the MY24 build can happen? Any further info on that please?May 10, 2024 at 7:46 pm #277283I have asked the question about my May build and MY24 v MY25 today and the reply was that my car was confirmed as MY24 and will arrive as ordered! I can’t see how that can happen @Ellyr5 because if the information I found a while ago is true then the Ghent factory closed sometime in late March for re-tooling to change production for the MY25 cars that would start in production at the start of May.
I was told by dealer back in March my car would definitely be a MY24 as he’d had in writing from HQ. Thing is, as we are seeing the dealers don’t have a clue whether our cars are even built or not never mind whether they are MY24/MY25 versions. 😞

May 10, 2024 at 7:58 pm #277285Just to lighten the mood slightly for The Weekend,
What Colour XC40 Did you all go for?
Most important question 😂May 10, 2024 at 8:05 pm #277286Went for Onyx Black. Thought the standard colour looked boring? Think they look smarter in black.

When my dealer rang me last week to say mine will be July, he said it will most likely be a MY25 as he has a mix of both 24 and 25 on the delivery sheets. But more 25s are coming in the next few months. Said not to expect a 24. Shame as I would of loved the 24 with the 360 cam due to neck movement

Grey which I regret. Wish I’d gone for blue or green as they’re both nice mellow colour I think. 👍
May 10, 2024 at 8:55 pm #277292Fusion Red in 2020, is it even still available ???
May 10, 2024 at 8:58 pm #277293The camera was one of the important factors for me so I would really like to know which version is being built for my car. I understand my dealership can only go on what they’ve been told but I’m doubtful they’ve been updated on the latest facts. Just hope I’m wrong.
May 10, 2024 at 9:01 pm #277294White. I always have white cars! I like to be seen clearly by other drivers! I’m a worry wort!

May 12, 2024 at 12:33 pm #277374Hello Everyone,

Good luck tomorrow to the Other Steph on collection. ☺️
Interesting John let us know what you find out 🙂

May 12, 2024 at 4:09 pm #277399MrsL83 – I’ve ordered tinted windows and the dealer said that are done there so not during the build. Perhaps you can add it on or as UncJ is fitting them cheaper by someone he knows. Not sure what happens on the cars return.
Fingers crossed for positive news this week as my dealers going to get fed up of my emails! Volvo HQ need to get communication flowing!May 12, 2024 at 4:55 pm #277406MrsL83 – I’ve ordered tinted windows and the dealer said that are done there so not during the build. Hey Nshaw hmm 🤔 not sure about cars being returned and modified privately I’m sure UncJ will have checked on this, I’m not having them done at the dealer now 😅 I’m not delaying any collection time with them more than I’ve already waited 😅
Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 this week brings some of us more good news 😊😊😊
May 12, 2024 at 6:39 pm #277409Re: tinted windows. Disclaimer: Yes, you’re supposed to ask MB if you want to get them done yourself. I’ve had this done on 3 MB cars in the past, never asked MB and never had a problem when returning the car. It adds value as far as a dealer is concerned so as long as it;s done by a reputable outfit then zero problems. But yes, one is “supposed” to get permission from MB.
I think the situation at Volvo Gloucester is a bit poor really if I’m being honest regarding window tinting. Why? Well, the list price of adding=g this when ordering a car from Volvo is £350. For that £350 the windows should be from factory and supplied as coloured, tinted glass and NOT clear glass with a tinted film applied to it. So, it would appear that Gloucester order all (MB at least) with clear rear glass and then get a private company in (I know this to be fact, I was told by dealer) and apply tinted film. I was told a private contractor from Cheltenham comes into the dealership to fit them. No problem with that as such, it looks fine.
However … The going rate for that to be done to rear windows of an average size car is less than £200!! So, obviously, the dealership is making a fair chunk of profit on top of the actual price for a lesser product. I’ve no problem paying £350 for factory fitted tinted glass but no way am I paying that for a contractor to apply film and get charged £150+ over the odds for it. 😉☹️
