I would suggest if you are driving normally with music on and comfortable in terms of temperature – heated seats on if needed – if you have them – with temperatures at the moment – say 6 to 8 – anything above 4 miles per kWh I would be happy with.
Any journey below 8 miles and the range always seems lower.
I still think conditioning battery from low by 3 pin plug ie slow is the way to go.
I know some on the forum have solar panels and can charge even slower and it does appear to give them the best ranges on this forum.December 4, 2022 at 3:07 pm #201904my max charge speed is 3.6kwh which is faster than a 13 amp a little.. 15/16 amp give or take.

Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistDecember 4, 2022 at 3:16 pm #201905Detailed post Des. I was achieving 5 – 5.2 in the summer and early autumn. Now its just above 4, and most ot the time I use the heater and other electronic devices. Even at 4- 4.2 miles per kWh, that equates to a range of 256-270 miles, very acceptable for a UK winter. I know if I need to make my 260 mile trip to London on the motorway a recharge is going to be needed. The 4.5 Des achieved was, IMO, pretty good, and once its warmer, the mid 5’s is definitely achievable.
December 4, 2022 at 3:19 pm #201906I’m tempted to plug the granny charger in and see if it helps, however 99% of out charging is on 7kWh charger. Due to cost, fast chargers will only be used when absolutely necessary.
December 4, 2022 at 3:21 pm #201907Motability fitted an OHME charger for me, which is 7.2 kWh.
I am fortunate that I haven’t experienced any range issues – maybe because I got my car end of July when it was warm – also I don’t do a high mileage.
If I did have issues with range dropping over the winter period I would certainly run the battery down and 3 pin charge to try and improve the conditioning of the battery. There does seem to be evidence to suggest this does work – but either way I would loose nothing by trying.
I know you said Struth that you collected your car in winter and it took a while to improve the conditioning.December 4, 2022 at 3:42 pm #201908I’m sorry but the day I need to drive with no heating on in the winter is a step too far. Taking head tests and the parcel shelf out to gain a few extra miles is utter madness.
What have we come to? What’s the point of driving anymore? There’s no way you could undertake a journey in the winter being cold and miserable and stay focused on driving what is after all a lethal weapon.
I understand saving money especially these days but this is just madness.
Have a great day folks.
December 4, 2022 at 4:20 pm #201911I maybe wrong but I don’t think des was trying to be a masochistic geek – just trying to establish if there is an issue with the battery.
As for me if there is an alternative to using less battery I will take it – but not at the expense of being over hot or cold – same with speed – I don’t drive slowly to achieve greater range and music – well that is always on ???December 4, 2022 at 4:47 pm #201914I’m sorry but the day I need to drive with no heating on in the winter is a step too far. I agree. In late summer I wanted to see how far I could eek out the range, by driving gently etc. Now I know, I drive for comfort, and a heated cabin is a must.

desCarmad it was just a test. The only time I’ll be in a car like that again is if the undertaker carries me like that in the back box in the boot.
240 seems to be my average, which is enough tbh. I was just trying to see how high I could get the mkw. And after all that 4.5 is pretty bad tbh. One other thing I have to say is, I always have the family or half of them in the car 2 big 2 small so I suppose 240 ain’t bad tbf. I do love the car but have a few grumbles about it which I’ve never really mentioned considering what folk have went through on here regarding orders and delivery. But I’m going to moan about it tonight lol.
December 4, 2022 at 7:20 pm #201920Fantastic news Debs! I am so pleased for you
December 4, 2022 at 7:53 pm #201921Moan away, Des. I’m sorry if you have taken my personally, it wasn’t my intention so I apologise.
Over the past few weeks I’ve read so many posts, not just on here, regarding EVa’s and it’s hard going.
” My car isn’t going as far as I was told it would by the salesman”. Well, your dad told you the Easter bunny was real, how did that work out for you?
“I can’t charge my car. I haven’t got access to home charging and the nearest public ones are 10 miles away”. And yes I did read this one yesterday. Why on earth did you choose to drive an EV knowing this?
Driving an EV is, I believe a compromise like most things in life. The push to EV’s even from an environmental point of view is commendable but people need to research them before taking the jump from ICE. Motability must make sure that their customers know what they’re getting in to and although they are publishing information now this needs to be enforced when signing up on the dotted line.
Take care,

Martin curryI have just had an update from hyundai that my kona will be docking at Tilbury on the 26th of December 2022 is anyone else waiting for there’s to arrive on this date or been given this date and is there any way of finding out the name of the ship it will be on and how to track the ship. How long does anyone think it would be at Tilbury before it gets to the dealer, My original order date was the 13th of May 2022…Thanks
December 5, 2022 at 10:06 am #201934Hi Martin – I used an app called marine traffic – often the vehicle carrier vessel is called Glovis (something).
So in your search try to filter destination Tilbury – vessel type – vehicle carrier.
The voyage was usually 5 weeks – so work backwards from your date to have an approximation of where the vessel might be, and search there.Good luck ???

BrentThis does again make the hyundai allocations really questionable. I’ve seen a few posts online of people who ordered around may/June getting theirs this month but then still some from feb/march who’ve gotta wait until May next year.
The car will be worth it I’m sure and I’m happy for anyone who’s got theirs but gosh it’s annoying that they haven’t got a real system going for allocations and builds

. Always great news one a date is known; I would allow an extra few days for delivery to dealer in view of the festive holidays.
December 5, 2022 at 6:51 pm #201958The car is going on recharge tonight, the last 100 or so miles, involving lots of fast driving on dual carriageways and motorways etc, has been done at 4.4 miles per kWh, according to the OBC, equating to a range of 282 miles. A good outcome in this colder weather.

AnthonyOrdered Hyundai Kona ultimate end of August 22, latest update is delivery in May 23.
Seen on here that no mats are provided with the car. Should I buy from Hyundai or buy off ebay/Amazon , any advice. Also what’s the difference if any, aside from the higher price from Hyundai.

AllenHi all. I ordered my Kona Ultimate May22 and I’ve been told its been pushed back to March23. I have tried to search the TrackMyHyndai but it needs a 10 digit order number.. I only have 7 digits for my order.
Any suggestions on how I can access this info? I’ve called my dealer twice since ordering (2 times in 6 months, so not badgering in my opinion) and he’s tone is quite clipped. I get other people must be calling too but if they had a working website then customers will (mostly) get the answers they need.
December 6, 2022 at 6:14 pm #202033I bought my mats from Hyundai and they fitted them – about £50 – I haven’t seen other mats from Amazon etc but the reviews were not great – pleased with the mats – easy to take out and bang on a wall to get most of the dirt off – some have had them for free some have had money off etc – but I haven’t heard of any complaints.
I think it is more than reasonable to ask for an update monthly – I did mine by email – my dealer always replied even if it was same as last month – be polite but firm – it is there job to keep you informed – I wouldn’t be rude but I wouldn’t put up with any nonsense either – they are not doing you a favour – not sure about the order number I know there is a 1011 number which you can use to ask Hyundai – not sure of the position now – you used to be able to ask Hyundai – then they changed it to – ask your dealer – either way a monthly request for any updates is perfectly reasonable – good luck ?

AllenI was originally offered the Ohmi but where I live there is poor cell network so I was changed to an Easee (cell + wifi). Can’t give you feedback on it as I’m still (deep breath) waiting for my car.
