CapuchinI know a few of us are eagerly awaiting delivery of these so thought I’d make a thread so we can all keep track of updates etc
Ordered ultimate Misty jungle (with light leather) on 9th November. Delivery slated for end of March. Dealer has had no update yet.

There is an article in the express about real life ranges, they quote the Kia EV6, saying their reporter only managed 237 miles vs 300 WLTP, and with all electronics, air con switched off. These figures are totally at odds with the 340-360 miles we are getting, vs 300, in hot weather with aircon on full blast, albeit in a different car but from the same “manufacturer”. The article received more thumbs downs than ups!
It seems there are many posters eagerly awaiting their cars, so I think this thread still has a long way to run.

ChrisCar went it for no heating they had a look had it for a full day gave me a very small manual petrol car rang me to say they need it for 2 days I asked for a different courtesy car as it was too hard drive and get in and out they told me they don’t have any so I took my car back and rang motability to ask if they can provide a car they said yes booked it rang motability back up and it turns out I might not have one cause the loan cars from Europe, cars is really low ?
September 22, 2022 at 12:42 pm #196707Sorry to hear that Chris – hopefully you will get it sorted before the weather turns – it’s also a nod to us all to check stuff – it occurs to me I haven’t tested seats or wheel for heat!

Excellent point. I’m going to switch them both on next time it’s a little nippy. I know the heater is working. And yes there is a huge shortage of hire cars at present. The chances of an electric one are as slim as the Rexton returning to motability!

AlexVery comprehensive thread here. Just wanted to add my experience for people understandably unable to trawl through the hundreds of posts! Sorry about the length of this in advance.
Ordered Kona Premium 64kwh Cyber Grey on December 31st 2021. Just before the price increase. Paid £500.
Car was delivered 5 months later on 21st June 2022.
Unfortunately car was stolen a few weeks back (nobody hurt, keys were taken in burglary) but as traumatic as the experience was, it was also just as traumatic finding out the Kona is no longer on the scheme? Anybody here with any slight knowledge/insight on whether of it may be reintroduced with the new price list on October 1st?
Anyway a few tidbits on my brief experience. I covered 3000 miles for the 3 months. My average for the whole period was exactly 5.0 per kWh (325-350 mile range). I drive on regen mode 1. The weather was very warm during this period so the consumption is slightly flattering, but i feel like the near constant AC for 2 whole weeks kind off balanced that out somewhat.
Very fortunate that where I live in Stratford, there are alot of free chargers around. Ikea, Tesco, BP Pulse… Have only had to pay to charge a handful of times, no more than £50.
5.5-6.5 per kWh – Town driving, lots of traffic lights, occasional congestion.
4.5 per kWh – Dual Carriageway/Motorway driving at 60mph.
4.0 per kWh – Dual Carriageway/Motorway driving at 70mph.
3.5-4.5 per kWh – Town driving with AC up high, driver and passenger.
3.0 per kWh – Dual Carriageway/Motorway driving at 60mph with AC up high, driver and passenger.
Great sound system. Deep and clear. If just me in the car, radio rarely gets turned above 5. Very loud.
Beautiful, responsive infotainment system and interface. Joy to use. So many settings, but still easy to use.
Heated seats heat up almost instantly.
iPhone plus fits into the phone section with cable connected and still has space for the compartment to close.
Issues – wireless charger takes a lifetime, heating takes a lifetime (cold air for first 5 minutes), hard plastics inside let down the experience and sleek interior just a little, sometimes the crash detection is overzealous and has broken for me when in no danger. Slightly disconcerting feeling but luckily only happened about once a month.
Hope this helps anyone suffering with the delays! Its worth the wait, you’ll love it.
September 22, 2022 at 5:42 pm #196727Thanks Alex for your input.
Given your experience of losing the car I think it is extremely generous of you – most of what you have said rings true with my as yet limited ownership of car – got car end of July.
I had an x1 stolen in similar circumstances a few years back – car was recovered about 7 weeks later and there was no problem with Motability providing me with replacement until car was returned – but not a nice experience – so have some empathy!I have yet to experience cold weather so cannot comment on heater – I have had a/c and cooled seats on initially – but my go to settings are eco with smart recuperation on – hardly ever use a/c now – have air cooled seats on and window cracked open – I have fitted wind deflectors.
I do hope the car is back on the scheme soon and that you are able to acquire it – good luck ?
September 22, 2022 at 6:07 pm #196730A very comprehensive report Alex, hope you are able to find a new car and hopefully the Kona again.

SigmaHi All,
Car eventually arrived and yesterday completed a 225 mile round trip, mostly motorway and still had 70 miles remaining so very impressed. It is a considerable step up from our previous Renault Zoe and the 160 range.
I am however having difficulties with the Motability installed Ohme Home Charger which is only delivering 3.7kw per hour which seems incredibly slow.
Am I doing something wrong?

Delighted you have the car and 3.7 not bad on the motorway, I cant answer the Ohme charger question, maybe give them a call?
September 23, 2022 at 8:19 pm #196811<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi Sigma – I have OHME as well – I use their app – I assume you have paired the car and selected the Kona 64 etc.

The app is worth exploring there are a number of settings – I have always used fastest charge – just plugged it in and said go and monitor the % charge until full or more often 80%.
Not sure how helpful this is but hopefully you will get it sorted soon. ?September 24, 2022 at 11:43 am #196822
SigmaTillyman I think this is my issue. I open up the Ohme App and try to connect using the Hyundai Account sign in (which I assume is the BlueLink credentials) however it refuses to accept my details.
September 24, 2022 at 12:03 pm #196830Hi Sigma
I have only used the OHME app to charge – I have paired Bluelink but not used to charge only monitor – I will use it when I want to pre condition car in winter when I need to maximise range.
I had OHME installed several months before I got the car – my previous car was a Prius phev and I paired that with OHME which charged at the lower 3.5 rate – then when I got Kona I changed the selection from Prius to Kona.
Like many of these things you sort it out and then often forget how you did it as there is only the need to do it once.
But from vague memory on the OHME app there is a list of manufactures and cars – you select your car – I think it may have to be plugged in when you do this then on the OHME app you just hit go.
You don’t need any of the Bluelink stuff in order to activate the OHME app – let me know how you get on – good luck ?September 24, 2022 at 1:16 pm #196835Sigma it just occurs to me – I assume you have taken the information from the sticker under the charging box?

BrentAnyone had any updates on their delivery times? I’ve seen a few here mention that the pushed back to March orders have been built and confirmed for Nov, but hyundai haven’t replied to me for 3 weeks now 🙁
September 25, 2022 at 12:44 am #196849Hi Brent, I had an update on Friday. I had been given a build date of 4th November 2022, shipping expected 15th November and arrival at Tilbury 3rd January 2023. My build has now been pushed up by a few weeks and arrival at Tilbury is now expected 19th December 2022. Since that is on the doorstep of Christmas I am sceptical that the expected delivery to dealership will happen by 14th January 2023. I ordered the Kona EV Ultimate – Jungle Green – Light Interior on 15th April 2022 and was given a guesstimate that my Kona EV would be at the dealership sometime in December 2022. It took me almost a month to get this update from my dealership.
September 25, 2022 at 11:47 am #196868After an overnight charge, initially had a shock as range was 334, compared to 361 last time, however, as the charging only occurs during a 4 hour window, battery was at 93%, therefore equating to 360 miles.
September 25, 2022 at 5:27 pm #196894Hi all.
Charged the car today to max as the weather is meant to get colder and we are getting near the end of September and the price change – charged it using OHME app – it was 285 so quite full – started charging about 11 am so quite warm – charged at a rate close to an equivalent of 4 which you would expect given the curve towards end of battery full – it stated it had 357 range.
I suspect it may well be late spring before I see these numbers again – but brilliant figures – far beyond my expectations – I looked at manufactures claimed ranges and thought 85% summer being sensible – 65% winter with the need for some heat as well as being sensibly dressed.
So one happy customer ??September 25, 2022 at 7:26 pm #196904Interestingly, last night the car charged from 57% to 93%, which equates at 9% per hour which I thought was a little slow, but once over 80% it charges less quickly. I am going to top up to to 100% tonight. will be interested to see how the cooler weather affects range. I am taking stats from the car as I find BlueLink a little erratic.

The press seem to suggest 80% of range is what drivers typically achieve, which would equate to 240 miles for the Kona, I think everyone on this forum is achieving way in excess. I have even seen a figure of 195 miles for the Kona in winter. I think we will all get far better than that, unless its an arctic one!
September 25, 2022 at 9:05 pm #196909Like you fwippers through my own experience of the Kona and the experience and info shared by other members of this forum it seems clear that owners of the updated Kona are proving that the 30o mile range as stated by Hyundai is not only a realistic yearly average, but takes into account normal sensible usage of the car.
It also makes you wonder if some of the reported so called reviews really bothered with a strict real world test or just took the easy way of agreeing with previous reviews – either that or hyundai have made improvements to the battery technology that they haven’t made a big issue of.It will be interesting to see what stats are shared over the winter period – I am particularly interested to see how good the heated seats and wheel are on frosty mornings – especially from people who don’t have a home charger and so don’t have the option of preconditioning the car whilst plugged in.
September 25, 2022 at 10:38 pm #196916Fully charged, 357 mile range, a little down on last time, 361.

intranicityNot been on the forum for a while, but great to see people loving the Kona.
I’m currently 18 months into my lease, and now covered just under 33k miles, so far it’s been faultless.
Dealership has been great for the servicing, just wish it wasn’t every 10k miles, Tire wear is minimal, at this rate I’ll still be on the original tires at 60k!
I now have a decent charger at home (Hypervolt) but mainly use the free charger at the local Tesco as it’s less than 1km from home, I’ve rarely had less than 300 mile range on a full charge, usually in excess of 330, last winter occasionally it went to around 280, the fuel economy is unbelievable.
I’d have no qualms in getting another Kona next time, well unless the KIA EV6 or Ionic 5 are available by then… Would I ever go back to an ICE, no, well unless I won the lottery and could get a nice little Aston Martin for Sunday’s, I’d still have an EV for everyday use though.
September 26, 2022 at 8:24 am #196925Thanks intranicity
Its nice for us yet to need a service to have a glimpse into the future.
I never do more than 10k a year so having a report from someone doing 15k + is good to know.September 26, 2022 at 9:55 am #196934i do very little mileage, but not had any real issues bar the sensors going down for a few days. still not sure why, or at least where the sensor is that gets mucky. its happened again for a short perion; 10 mins in wet weather. i cleaned everywhere the sensors may have been but failed to clear it on first one.
other than that its been faultless. my first service will likely be in about 2/3 months. they will get a larf on mileage lol
Current Car: Hyundai Kona Premium EV...2 way 40kg hoist
Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistSeptember 26, 2022 at 9:55 am #196935<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi all and good morning

I have been trying to find a list of what the 12v battery drives.
I think it was Struth who told us it powers seats heat and ventilation and steering wheel heater.
I would like to know what powers iPhone when plugged into usb and playing music – is it 12v for phone and speakers.
When I am driving if I took the phone from usb and turned off music I suppose I could look for change but I would need someone to do that and take note of readings.I understand the Kona warns when 12v battery is getting low – is it recharged or topped up from main battery when driving.
I know some have had issues with 12v battery going dead – it happened to me on my Prius Phev – many smaller journeys – 30 miles and under – didn’t need the petrol engine that charged the battery – so too many consecutive journeys less than 30 miles caused it to die and had to be replaced.
Hence my desire to understand the Kona way of changing to be ahead of the game and have some understanding of 12 volt usage and top up.
