ajn
We have down sized our living quarters to a smaller room, yet more space due to lack of contents ie dining area/living room combined..
Were moving into a different room with bills/heating in mind for the winter..
Ive got a space on the wall for a slightly larger and more upto date TV from the much discussed aged Samsung that I think Mike has too.
Lets just say 3 years for a £500ish LG 50/55” non oled….
will this type Tv last 3yrs, by then the oled should be down I price too, can’t see any lasting as long as my old Samsung just a shame it’s so dated, and not upto my needs and wants anymore.

I just bough a 55″ LG 55UQ80006LB 4K from Argos, a bargain at £349, also came with a free £50 Argos voucher!
Compared to my previous 49″ Panasonic the picture quality is excellent!, looks much more realistic and the sound is also a big improvement.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I have one on my cerebellum causing various problems!

Firstly there is nothing wrong with LED or better Quantum DOT or Micro LED.
Don’t assume an LED will outlast an OLED, my old one lasted 11 or more years and if it wasn’t for a little part, that is no longer stocked I’d still have it today.
Don’t expect mid range OLED’s to fall below in price below mid range LED’s. Remember there a new, more expensive OLED on the block that unlikely to fall in price any near what most would call a cheap TV. The entry level LG A1 Mike was considering last year, has not seen a replacement this year. The cracking Hisense OLED as cheap as the A1 as good as the C2 gone as Hisense is concentrating on high end mini LED.
Most of all and perhaps more importantly don’t assume a TV with a Samsung or Sony badge is made by them, as quite often the midrange and below are made by Vestel, Foxcom or some unheard of Asian company. TCL makes a lot of the low to mid range Sammy’s, TCL sell TV’s equally as good or better for the same price point. Rember my list!
Above all happy shopping 🙂

Great stuff Phaedra, always nice to hear people chuffed with a bargin/purchase, congrats and I admire your enthusiasm well done..
my tv is years old, looking for an improvement on it, like Bluetooth for my devices and view my GoPro vids, YouTube stuff and come out of the dark ages..
Kezo your knowledge is 2nd to none I’ve ever heard on this subject, but pls remember I have no idea of what you talk about as I don’t even know what anything after LG 55” means, and that’s the truth..
I’ve seen a LG 55” 2023 skinny thing, could be the one, not sure if you remember the camcorder thread that’s the last time my tv was on, before that was months before, my phone is causing eye strain so time for change, just like our room switch around lol..
October 11, 2023 at 7:33 pm #237773No can’t remember from your other thread, what model LG is it.
Do you have a Richer Sounds shop near?
October 11, 2023 at 8:18 pm #237774ajn

October 11, 2023 at 9:01 pm #237801No
No you haven’t got a Richer Sounds or no you arent telling me the model number of the LG 😂😂
The reason I askedis its a better place to view a potential purpose the artificial setup by the likes of Curry’s.

Thanks for the advice though..
The purchase will be from my dining table over a coffee, if it’s crap I’ll learn the hard way lol..

Blimey Mike, you have super stamina when it comes to choosing a new TV, most of us do our research then buy one. Big respect to your ability to hold out for the right TV at the right price.
October 12, 2023 at 10:44 am #237883Yes indeed, been through the menu and make a lot of tweaks!, only problem I have is when playing videos or Youtube on my laptop or PC through the HDMI with the sound connected to my HiFi it’s out of sync, never had that problem with the Panasonic. If I use the TV sound it’s fine, just not as good.

Mike I keep an eye on prices, (not as often as you) but as a novice potential buyer don’t fancy getting stung, the prices are very attractive but I’m in no hurry, you have Kezo guiding you, an excellent in the know guide so stick in there till your satisfied..
Our redesigned room certainly needs a modern TV now, however as you say my pic quality seems fine, just the dated stuff and the thicker surround now needs to be sleeker and upto date..
Could now go to the enormous screen (bigger wall area) but will be sticking between 50-65 I think..

Well popped out this morn with Mrs aj, she need a Tesco shop, I noticed a Curry’s store, amazed to see Laurel and Hardy on one of the tvs, is this tv being held back by the how they present it, others had the newest Disney films or major football matches
October 15, 2023 at 5:32 pm #238434I’m not too keen on curry’s they hassle you as soon as you go in door and only one year guarantee

Ok kezo no rush, everyday the prices seem to differ somewhere, lol..
Yes Mike as I was hiding behind a huge tv from the staff 🤣, a man and wife were looking at it, I asked do you know much about all this listed stuff, he replied No, I’m just updating, in which I replied yes me to, that’s when he hit me with the from a 70” they want bigger 😳, I replied oh well best of luck whilst heading of to the £500 Laurel & Hardy section😉..
Must say loving the ones as thin as my shower screen glass, think it was a Samsung again, but remember kezo saying it’s not all that it seems anymore the Samsungs and where they’re produced..
LG I prefer, liked the Phillips with the lighting but seems thick, heavy and aged now
October 15, 2023 at 6:38 pm #238447ajn
John Lewis I’ll probably go with once I decide my path through the maze of purchasing one lol, oh I’d like voice control to all that typing out on the remote, well can’t be doing that either..

October 15, 2023 at 7:17 pm #238455We’ve missed you Kezo
I said to myself last Wednesday not another 25+ page TV thread and run off for the weekend 😂😂
October 15, 2023 at 8:04 pm #238459The entry level Samung QLed (quantum dot Q60 has never been bettered since the Q60A (the one @joss has), the Q60B was just overpriced and I doubt Samung has made theb Q60C any better but, I shall have a look to see if thats stil the case.
Is the q60c £600 @ John Lewis
How much is Phillips the One ?
Do you watch TV in a well lit or dark room?
I’ll work through your list one by one and anymore you want me look at 🙂
October 15, 2023 at 8:55 pm #238461ajn
Kezo I’ll probably stay with a LG voice control type 50/55” 2023…
Dont put to much on it, as I know I’m a pain in the rear, with this subject, I’m getting on my own nerves..🖥️📺🎥
