Corolla 2.0 GR Sport gone up nearly £300 AP to £2,345… so that’s off my list.
VW Golf R-Line 1.5 stays the same at £999 so still on my list.
Likewise, the Peugeot 208 GT Line stays the same at £849 AP.
Looks like I’m down to a list of two for Q4 ordering with the 208 just about edging it.
October 1, 2020 at 4:44 pm #125573Is the 208 just not a bit smaller than the golf as well. The corollas just way to much compared to how much it was a year ago (every 1/4 it’s risen) and it’s smaller as well than the golf.
SEAT LEON HATCHBACK SPECIAL EDITION 1.5 ETSI 150 FR FIRST 5DR DSG £999 list price is £30040
has the 18″ wheels as well rather than the 17″ on the fr plus i dunno but Vw seem to be ripping the extras on most of the models. Maybe worth a test drive.

StvPicked up golf 8 Dsg 2.0 tdi style Wednesday ordered 6th June built September. Well impressed touch screen easy after a couple of days, it’s got voice control for heating so you don’t have to fiddle about on the screen plus folding mirrors and only £699 ap

Mike11Hi do the mirrors fold in when you lock the car ? What is your mpg on the 2 litre diesel ?
October 2, 2020 at 4:22 pm #125728
Mike11Can voice control the fan speed temp Demist windscreen etc ?
October 2, 2020 at 8:37 pm #125758
StvHi Mike11, yes the mirrors do fold when locking and unlocking, just done 120 miles mainly on A roads and averaged 66.8 mpg not asked it to demist the screen yet I have asked to warm my feet and said my hands were cold and it turned up temp. Also has side assist and a led grille light bar the dealer didn’t even know it had that. Very nice drive bit scary using traffic jam assist for first time but soon get used to it.
October 2, 2020 at 9:45 pm #125759That’s great it said on the VW website the Golf style didn’t have folding mirrors
October 2, 2020 at 9:46 pm #125760Fantastic mpg I think the 2 litre diesel dsg has now gone up in price ?
October 2, 2020 at 10:33 pm #125762A quick look inside & out at the new SEAT Leon (2021) FR 1.5 eTSI DSG.

Hi solent60. Just wondering why you wouldn’t have a Focus on that list. IMO a better drive than any of those.
October 3, 2020 at 7:21 am #125767I wouldn’t choose a focus because the mpg is poor after reading honest John real mpg the new hybrid engine on the Seat FR and new Golf is very economical as is the brand new 2 litre Diesel engine

I think it could be the fr sport, deffo though i think the leon is a lot better looking than das auto’s 8 and has more kit as standard. Cannot see all the specs of the first edition as yet though on seat site.
found this though https://www.bristolstreet.co.uk/new-car-deals/seat/leon/fr-first-edition/249953/seat-leon-1.5-etsi-150-fr-first-edition-5dr-dsg-petrol-hatchback/
Although i still think you gotta get the first edition or XCELLENCE /lux for ACC Not as nice on the outside though better on the inside. Big shame there no 190 versions though.. Seems alot of manufacturers are dropping the fastest versions.
Mike i think you should deffo test drive one and of course the golf also, which one bonus is you can get a tdi still.

Hi comfortablynumb.
I like the look of the new(ish) Focus & I know it supposed to be extremely good to drive. If I were to pick one – I’d opt for the 1.5 182 ecoboost automatic. But as Mike says, Ford claim 46 mpg but real world is only 33 mpg.
In contrast, the 1.2 208 GT Line 130 8-speed auto achieves well over 40 mpg real world & the new Golf R-Line 1.5 eTSI nearly 50 mpg… important factors for me to consider.
October 3, 2020 at 4:40 pm #125819Out of the two I’d choose the golf. The Peugeot is a good car but for me the golf is better in all areas bar the 8 speed box.

The funny thing is Phil – whether it’s the 208 or the Golf I end up with, it will all come down to how “offset” the pedals are!
You see, although I only have (like many of us) an automatic licence – I actually drive a car using my left leg & not my right one. I do not have, any never have had, any adaptions whatsoever. Now I know that might sound a tad uncomfortable, or even slightly unconventional – which it is I guess – but it works for me & after spending 40+ years driving nothing but automatic cars, I have never ever had an issue. My left (or “good/normal”) leg manages to operate both pedals because my right leg is very thin/weak with no muscle due to polio as a baby. When foreign car manufacturer’s, Like Peugeot & VW in this case, convert their cars from left-hand drive to right-hand drive for the UK market, I love it when car reviewers moan about the pedals being “offset” – because I know that particular car is going to be ideal for me to drive! It’s nothing short of music to my ears!
So, as with any car I ever buy, hire, borrow or lease – I can tell the moment I sit in it & press both pedals whether or not that car will be suitable for me to keep for 3-years without any issues. I should add that the addition of cruise control in recent years has been an absolute godsend – especially on longer journeys. I shall sit in the new 208 and then the Golf pretty soon now & the first thing I will do is ensure that the pedals are placed enough to the left for me to feel “Yep, that’ll do very nicely!”.
October 4, 2020 at 1:00 pm #125911like wise for me with the adaptive cruise control.would’nt be without it, I certainly abuse it alot. If i am driving, I often click it on so the car brakes for me, of course you need a car infront of you. but great to have that options. When I drive 140 miles to london, all i do is steer most of the way. Now with lane keep assist it’s even easier.
The golf match mk7 i did have was great in every dept, apart from the uncomfortable seat. back in jan a golf was not an option at all. None available for april handover and i glad i din’t wait as there certain aspects i don’t like in the new one. That i know will annoy me over 3 years. I like the look of the 208 but is just to small.
I do miss the place it had to rest my right foot while using acc, But thats no big issue for me.
Sometimes you just know which car is best, as soon as you sit in it. some it’s down to the how they drive and handle. Only you really know what works for one’s self best.
Some cars i have test driven before i have not even got out of the dealership, before i think umm this is not for me.. worst was a c3 back in 2011, after just test driving a qashqai was no contest. Same with the current car 1st time i sat in the drivers seat, i was like it’s so much softer and better than in the golf, I had driven there in.

Lord Muc<p style=”text-align: left;”>Rox, well said, you can look at all the reviews going, but until you sit in one, then you know, it’s right for you.</p>

October 4, 2020 at 3:48 pm #125937Looks fantastic a blooming bargain also put New 2020 Leon Fr in you tube search watch AJ player video fantastic he got 50 mpg in town and A roads but he hated the touch screen wanted knobs I prefer knobs for heater etc
October 4, 2020 at 3:50 pm #125938
RhodgieHaha bet you love a knob menorca mike
October 4, 2020 at 4:05 pm #125941No i love beautiful women ?
October 4, 2020 at 4:07 pm #125942Why are car makers doing away with knobs ? So easy to turn and you can keep your eyes on the wheel
October 4, 2020 at 4:07 pm #125943I’d be tempted to get a seat, if i had to get something now.
lucky for me i ain’t and i cannot even suggest the civic as none are now listed. (which i am still lovin)
I dunno about the lighting though it does looks nice but my brain will hate it i just know.
Surely you guys gotta put the seat on the list fr first edition / sport or just the fr.. for a test drive.
