Hi Everyone,
Just got back from visiting the dealership, they’ve taken pictures of both the rear light chips and the faulty virtual cockpit and have advised they will send it onwards to Volvo warranty to see if they approve the parts being changed…. They told me the virtual cockpit was almost guaranteed but there not sure if the rear lights will be classed as ‘acceptable’. I did share my disappointment and will be contacting mobility to keep them updated.
I guess it’s just a waiting game now until I hear back from the dealership.

Hi Everyone,
I collected a XC40 Black Edition on Saturday 23rd November and already I have found a few problems with the car.
The virtual cockpit has a green line across the screen, I have reported this to Volvo who have confirmed it requires a £1000 replacement screen, they want me to bring this in tomorrow for inspection before they order the new part.
On top of this, after walking around the vehicle today to triple check for any other issues I also noticed that both rear lights have a small chip on the glass on the corner… I reported this to Volvo today who said they would take a look tomorrow but after they checked a few models in the dealership they all seem to be ‘imperfect’, meaning the small chip I have found on my two rear lights is what they class as normal. Can anyone who has recently collected their Volvo advise if this is in fact normal or should I be pushing Volvo to replace the lights… as you can imagine when collecting a brand new car you expect everything to be perfect and brand new. I’ve attached an image of both problems as I’m not sure if I’m being over picky (for the small chips).
Thanks
Zak
Hi Adam90, Did you add any other optional extras or did you take it as it? I called my local dealer in the midlands regarding this car and he advised delivery is 2-4 weeks… is there a specific reason yours is taking 3-6months? I am also interested in this vehicle but dont want to end up with a model in 2 weeks if e.g. your dealer has advised an improved model or facelift if what you have ordered?
Thanks
Thank you for the advise Glos Guy, unfortunately what I failed to state (apologies from my side) is I’m already currently in a 6month extension as my vehicle was originally due back in June 2024… I tried to get 2 years then but only managed to get 6 months. I then contacted motability last week to ask for the additional 1.5 years or that unfortunately I’d have to leave the scheme, I even used the above information of the contract and there response was surprisingly very stern…. The answer was no, and if I didn’t like the answer my only option was to go down the ombudsman’s route…. I’m thinking of contacting them again next week to try my luck again but I don’t think I will be successful.
Thanks JoJoe, unfortunately my vehicle is due to be returned 15th December and at the moment I have not found a vehicle on the scheme that has both taken my interest and has a reasonable AP…. Therefore at the moment I’m a bit stuck that come 15th December I have to physically return this car and still won’t have found a car suitable to order, almost meaning I’ll have to leave the scheme.
I was hoping someone on the forum is in a similar situation and can advise if they were able to get a further increase on there current vehicle.
Hi Everyone,
Hope you’re well?
Has anyone had recent experience of trying to extend their vehicle? Mine unfortunately has 40k miles and zero adaptations so expectedly Mobility rejected my extension.
Has anyone else managed to get there vehicles extended even when not falling into one of the two requirements?
Thanks
Zak
