      Most networks are very good.

But go onto giffgaff an they will send out SIMS on the O2 network. A £6 goody bag, cheap as chips an put it in your phone. Most phones have dual sim slots an give it a try.

      Easi peasi..

It all depends on the service interval of the vehicle. My first service is at 2 years.

On petrol cars its usually one year or X-miles whatever the manufacturers recomendation.

But 1st service is usually after 1 year, so on. 3 year lease its usually 2 services.

You could just get Halfords to supply and fit. At least it should be done properly. My front cam is plugged into the 12v socket, and the rear is in usb socket.  That setup has no drain issues as these are only powered when the car is switched on.

Dont forget, if you are coming from a petrol car to an ev, you will save a lot of money using a home charger.

When I moved from petrol to ev, I saved £100/month i was not putting petrol in a car. That £2400 over  2 years.

My petrol bill was £120/month and now spend £20/month on electricity.

Not many factor in the money you save by not filling up. Thats £3600 over 3 years in my pocket, thats as a low mileage user.

The company selling on eBay have their postcode the name of the supplier which it them and the BS number. I don’t see what you are getting at.

Thats cool, just leave it at that then.

I posted on the wrong post…but..

A big black car approached and passed me today. It was big and turned heads, it wasnt until it had passed, that I saw the badge, it was a Jaecoo 7. Quite an impressive car.

They also have to display the kitemark

Even my Motability cars plates don’t have the Kitemark, rather a BS number.

Yes indeed that is what I meant, BS thingy I called it the kitemark cos i couldnt remember an that is what it used to be called.

To make and sell number plates you must be registered with the dvla as an authorised supplier, they have a code name for that as well. Halfords is authorised, the ebay guy is not or he would supply his dvla authorisation number or code. It used to be that they had to be made in the uk, but they slacked off on that stipulation.

As i said if its your own car, fill your boots an go for it. But its a motability car probably better stay within the law.

https://ebay.us/m/v198OJ which part of those plates are illegal.

                          They are all illegal.

To get a legal set of plates made up you have to produce your V5 or V773( something like that) and  must be traceable to the garage that made them. They also have to display the kitemark thingy that they are made in the uk.

I,m old and i dont like change. But i bit the bullet and got a Dell PC with Windows 11 several months ago. My previous PC another Dell had been upgraded to Windows 10….but it began failing as a PC so i jumped. Its like owt else even tho i dont like change..you get used to it the more you use it.

Indeed. Going to Win11, just hate the desktop, went to github an got a file for making it more win10 like. Also hated Win11 notepad,  so deleted that an installed win10 one.

It tests your sanity trying to keep a path away from the one that Microsoft  tries to force on you.

All the previous versions of Windows was a welcome upgrade,  But Win11 has some very good features and some very bad features.

But yes, as you get older, this crap you could do without.

you can buy a new set of number plates on eBay for £15.00 including delivery.

The thing about ebay plates is they are illegal. It just gives plod a chance to pull you over, especially if your personalised plate has unrealistic spacing etc.

No doubt plod will have a crackdown and you leave yourself wide open. Its ok doing that on your own car, its your responsibility.

But do that on a motability lease car is a different matter. I do the same as glos guy, its easier and less hassle.

You can ask motability for a  copy of the V5.

If you want to take your private number off a motability car, logon to your motability account and do it from there.

Probably better if you just phone and ask motability what you want to do.

There is the problem, when you DO put the plate on retention, you have 3 days to change over the plate to the old reg. The problem is they also send you a form, its only valid for 3 days to go and get the old numberplate made up at dingbro or halfords or whatever.  You cannot use your old number, you must use the new number and you can only get the plate made up if you have the 3 day  form dvla supplies ir you have to wait on the V5 being sent out. You will also have to inform you insurance company of the new reg number, otherwise you will be classed as uninsured and have plod stopping you every few days.

Its all done online through dvla, google it.

You will have to go online and remove theregistered number from your old vehicle first and have it on retention.

When you get your new vehicle, it easily done through motability website.

Look on the motability website for nore info.

I was in the same quandary, upgrade the hardware for Win11.

Instead, i bought a new PC, it cost the same as an upgrade path and it comes with Win 11 Pro installed.

Its. Minisforum Venus 790 Pro an cost £535 from amazon. My existing full size NZXT case pc is sitting redundant..

My old PC  had an 800W ower supply, the mini pc has a 60w supply and the pc fits in my hand.

I done a lot of research and minisforum seems to be the better build. But Ryzen 9, 32gb ddr5 Ram and. 1Tb m2. Drive.

The minipc plays my games, and for video editing, it so much quicker than my old Pc.

I had consiered the Mac MiniM4, for the same price, but its specs and performance is half of the ryzen 9. Plus software is very limited.

                                      The mini pc…..ts a steal.

It really isnt until you,ve had a car for a couple of years that you really get to know it. But the advances in equipment and Tech since 2020 has been huge. I guess they are still sorting out the niggles.

Hopefully your next car is better. Thats the best thing aout the scheme, changing vehicle every 3 years.

You are not a qualified electrician so your thoughts are not valid. You could get a quote from a local  independant installer, that would give you the ammunition to argue your case within current regulations.

But in all likelyhood, Ohme will go with what the surveyor suggests, unless you have valid information from another installer

I think this discussion drifted away to changes midway through. The main point in my mind is that with ever increasing AP limiting contract to three years means higher costs to us, the customers. Therefore more people may start looking for opportunities outside the scheme. Especially if you can charge vehicle at home, taking a used EV on PCP with 0% APR is no brainer in my mind (you can consult Dr Google on “0% APR used EV car”).

Indeed, Autotrader, you can buy a Tesla Model3 for 16K or an Ioniq5 for the same with 25k miles. Tesla have more miles.

But they are cheap as chips and little or no servicing. A diesel or petrol car  costs a lot more in servicing and mintenance.

I guess more people will jump ship, especially if they want to stick to a petrol car, which are being squeezed out.
