thanks Brydo , there’s so many people intimidated by the forms and i have heard a lot  when people go to the benefit officer at the citizens advise all they do is tick the boxes and don’t file in the boxes because its quicker and they only get an hour to do the form .

last person i helped went to CAB about universal credit and was told just accept what they gave you don’t rock the bout, its not worth my while you want get anywhere.

And this is someone that’s meant to help; people in need

@JS I’m sorry you feel my posts are constant negative posts, and yes i know not everyone is the same. i have had a new motability lease every 3 years since i was 17 i now 54 so i have had a few.

I enjoy this forum a lot i come on 6/7 times a day. But a lot of time when I have came on (and no disrespect meant to anyone at all) to read exiting and controversial topics / post, i see  posts about extras on car although interesting iv read it all, or about cars that are coming out at a ridiculously high price that has no chance of coming on to motability then my hopes are put up.

when i first stared  on this forum i would just read the various posts for a long time , then I decided i could comment on that,  in fact i could post an interesting topic people would hopefully enjoy putting their own input on.

As for my posts are constant negative posts, JS you are probably correct , life is not always rosy and sweat for a lot of people especially with disabilities or constant pain or illness people having DLA for life then having to apply for PIP and not getting any award and then that making their life even harder .

Their various ages on this forum and different age groups do different things ,and look at life very differently  older people only use their car once a week to go 4 miles to Asda and home again. Then there are other people with children young or teenagers and they take the children here there and everywhere, all the time to clubs , friends house ect and pick them up  they end up doing the 20k miles a year, Everyone’s life is different.

I  could just put up posts saying ”look as I was skipping (if i could skip) through meadow today i seen a shinny red car that’s so exciting , please comment”

I’m 54 and i think i look at life very cynically, in fact my wife calls me victor, as she said im exactly like victor meldrew from one foot in the grave.

    If I upset anyone ,,  I’M SORRY

Andy I was going to respond to the comment sticky said , but Andy I think you’v said what i was going to say.

Mobility/ Motability  Grant have been helping disabled people for a long time, they have a good bit of experience in dealing with the different need of applicants, they’ll probably already know that this type and that type of disability need this type and that type of help . and when you tell then your income / benefits they’ll already know what you get what you need to spend it on and if you have anything left each month rent , mortgage, gas, electricity , fuel, council tax and if you’v any money left FOOD.

They’ll know you need heated seats electric closing boot , self park , wider seats ect ,

if they did’nt help disabled customers with the car to suit their disability , then the disabled person would need to take a basic car and it then does’nt suit their needs therefore they end up not using the car because they cant get their chair in or close the boot. ( but when they return it with 4000 miles on it in three years, motability are saying thanks we’ll make a lot on this when we sell it , instead of someone using the car and having 60000 on it , or was that the plain to start with i wounder …

i think STICKY needs to remember disabled people struggle a lot with everyday simpl things like closing a boot.

maybe motability need to change the pricing with lowering the advance payment ect.

And another thing i think a lot of cars on the scheme are just there to make up the numbers , what use are small low to the ground salon or sports car , (yes we’d all loved to say i’ll have a sports car please oh and can i have a person there all the time to help me in and out (that’s if i can get in or out) and mobility know that too

i kind of went of on a rant sorry about that

Evan it would be interesting to find out the result of your application as im thinking of applying , im a bit apprehensive about applying , what i want / need might be bigger than the small car option they offer

have you picked a car yet

72 dudes yes it is old news but the bits that got me , MPG Iv always looked at picking a car with mpg usually combined urban and motorway but that even rubbish.

the fact the way they test cars even the new way, the engine out the car , and the actual driving or how they accelerate slowly its all still really now accurate .

i think as said on here best way is fill the car drive it refill see what you get , problem with that is you then have the car for three years even if you don’t like the millage

yes its the drivers responsibility but if motabiliy and kwikfit say no where not putting tyres on then do we need to pay for them to keep us legal .

i remember years ago think the yearly mileage was 10000 you only got one set of 4 tyres  in the 3 year lease then it changed and you could get what you need

i always speak to EVdrivers when i can to see what they think of them.

i spoke to someone with BMW i3  he said he had had the car a year did 10000 miles ish and  he had never charged at the house he just used public chargers all the time , so here in Scotland free charging

last year i took my xc60 into Volvo for mot i did get a lone car they called me up about 4.30 said it failed mot on a few things light wipers and two front tiers they said the other stuff was done but they had to keep the car till the next cause kwik fit was going to the Volvo garage to do the tiers i then got it the next night

dont see how they cant do that for you and give you a car

    i read this

    Eligibility

people who have difficulties with daily living or getting around (or both) and
have had the physical or mental difficulty for at least 3 months and expect it to continue for at least 9 months. If a person is terminally ill these qualifying periods do not apply
    Entitlement decisions
Social Security Scotland will make decisions about entitlement for DAWAP using the applicants account of their circumstances and existing supporting information, where possible.

    Examples of supporting information include:

    a social care needs assessment
a report from a community psychiatric nurse
    information from a carer
