I thought motability didn’t allow the registration to be delayed to get the latest reg plate… as soon as garage have it they get it out to the customer asap 🤔
July 26, 2025 at 7:05 pm #310416oh i dont know you may be correct
July 26, 2025 at 7:11 pm #310417If dealer gets it asay on 26th of August they will need a few days to get it prepared, so for the sake of any remaing days till the 1st you won’t be far off 1st, so why not!
However, so much for loyalty and worry free motoring!
I guess you could put a complaint in, but you will most likely will need to take delivery. as soon as it’s ready.
@Rhodgie I believe that is dealership related, rather than strick Motability rules.July 26, 2025 at 7:56 pm #310420my 73 plate Hyundai Tuscon after 16 months was written off car just stopped working im in hire the 90 days stops on monday i ordered a skoda karoq with 2 weeks left dealer said car will not be ready till mid oct so canceled that and scrammed about to get a suitable available i ordered a Hyundai santa fe was told by the dealer the car will be they’re on Monday now been told itll be in the country on 19 aug theyll have it week later, ( so do i waite a few days to get a new reg on 1 sep ) spoke to motability about not having a car for several weeks what do i do with out a car told them iv been a motability customer since i was 17 in 1983 , they said they dont have loyalty program iv always have a car since i was 17
Really sorry but I just do not understand why you would postpone having a car just so you can have one with a new registration, I plead with you to think about this and just get on with whatever way is the quickest for you to get back on the road (as long as the car you have is fit for your purpose).
Good luck with it and hope the order goes well
July 26, 2025 at 8:32 pm #310425Our current car was available for pick up mid-August. The dealer said that they were relaxed whether we took delivery immediately or waited until 1st Sep to get the new reg. As the main reason for changing the car was because my wife needed a new adaptation, we opted for picking the car up immediately.
As for the OP, I was always under the impression that Motability would never leave you immobile?
July 26, 2025 at 8:40 pm #310426Could someone explain to the non-initiated what difference the number plate makes?
Prior: SEAT Ateca Xcellence Lux 1.5 TSI DSG MY19, VW Golf GTE PHEV DSG MY23
Current: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Ultimate
Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.July 26, 2025 at 8:58 pm #310428Could someone explain to the non-initiated what difference the number plate makes?
Snob value to impress the neighbours 🤷♂️😂😂😂😂 unless you can use 75 as your age or DoB 😁

July 27, 2025 at 3:40 pm #310446I picked up my current car on the 24th of February at my request as to avoid the crowds at the dealership 5 days later, being disabled is not nice being in crowded spaces.
I noticed my handover paperwork was changed from the 1st of March to the 24th of Feb and did think to myself does it have an effect of Motability resale value but they don’t seem to be concerned as dates beside its still a MY23 model.

Yes, a newer reg plate will always be worth more at resale than an identical car with the preceding one, which is why I find it odd that Motability allow us to take delivery just days before the plate change.
