We have had our Kodiaq PHEV for a year now and love it! Trying to drive on electric most of the time so we put petrol in every 2-3 months.
Only regret is we couldn’t wait for a factory order and the one at the dealership we went for didn’t have the active ride control or whatever is called, the suspension is very soft, amazing for potholes and straight line driving but around corners you really need to slow down…
And we miss not having a front camera as well.
Ours has all the other toys. Extremely happy with the car, I can only describe it as an honest, unpretentious workhorse, spec it right and you’ll love it! Good luck!3 pin plug for me as well! Still love the car. so comfortable to drive…
One thing I noticed is the power steering noise when turning not even full lock (from say 80% onwards). Like a kissing noise…
Has anyone else noticed that? Is it normal?
Hi there we had our Skoda PHEV now a couple of months and couldn’t be happier. We get c. 50miles on electric in the winter and I’m sure I will get 70+ int he summer when i don’t need the heated seats/heated steering wheel and the heating on all the time. @Theglen sounds very low what you are currently getting at the moment, I’m sure it will improve…
I wish the car had a front camera to help with parking and the cruise control is the basic system not the one that maintains speed/breaks but apart from that, we love the car. We also had the Outlander PHEV previously and it’s night and day in terms of comfort and space. It’s excellent on long journeys as well and not bad on fuel (petrol).
I’m filling up once every 2 months and the rest we charge on normal 2kW at home over night! Enjoy your Phev and keep us posted if things improve with the electric range!

We picked ours up on Saturday and so far we have had no issues at all. I only charge it with a 3pin socket over night which is fine for us (works well with the Solar PV and battery system in the winter/cloudy days).
Like you I have also had an Outlander PHEV previously (spooky!) and I think that the Skoda is a massive improvement, it just feels lighter and more nimble…
The only groans I’ve got is that I would have loved more toys but didn’t want to spec and wait for a factory order. Ours is the SEL with a sunroof, the convenience pack and winter pack. I really miss a front camera (would help with parking such a big car) and the heated seats take ages to warm up. You can also hear the wind noise on the motorway esp with those massive mirrors.
The electric range is 55mmiles at the moment and of course it will get better as the days warm up. Of course, it depends how you drive it and what you use in the car (heated seats/AC/Heated steering wheel etc) but I reckon I’ll get close to 70 miles from it in the summer.
One thing I will do is wait till all the petrol is gone and fill it with super-unleaded. I read that normal unleaded (95 RON) goes off after a few months (yeah I know, but google it!) so super is better for the engine if used very sparingly.
Finally, I’ve never had a car with such large boot and this is one of the very few PHEVs in the market where the floor is not full of battery and people (esp rear passengers) seat with their knees by their heads to accommodate (we’ve tried many cars). I’ll post a couple of images when I have time (to photoshop the plates as well). All the best!

thanks very much for sharing, this is very interesting and I’m picking up our new Kodiaq PHEV tomorrow so I’ll be asking the dealer today about this update. I hope the charging issues are resolved soon and I’ll post here if I face similar. Glad to hear that overall you’re enjoying the car.
All the best
Christos
We are exactly in the same position with solar panels and hopefully free motoring! Getting delivery of ours in a couple of weeks, one can do 70miles easily on electric power if driven sensibly!!! Can’t wait…
We had charger already at home from previous EVs, had a private car for past few months but the MB argument (total costs, insurance, mileage allowance etc) made sure that we only stayed off the scheme for 3-4 months, back in it now and grateful!

last week when we ordered ours from stock there were about 40 Kodiaqs on the system showing as being at Exeter Port, various colours and spec (from SE to Sportline) but most with just a few options… We like our toys and would have specced it a lot better if it was a factory order but had to compromise as 3-4 months as opposed to 1-2 weeks was crucial for us!
We now depend on how quickly the adaptation company can fit it in for our transfer plate before we take delivery in a couple of weeks and can’t wait…
Good luck with it!
Skoda and Ford have lots of cars in the UK in stock at the moment (esp Kodiaq, MachE and Explorer)
I think people buy electric cars because we are forced to (or will be forced to very soon), until hybrid replaces this technology in 5-10 years time, I doubt (m)any people on Motability are buying electric/PHEV cars to save the planet, it’s all about their needs and what they can afford…
@monty thank you for posting, really interesting! We just ordered the same car in dark grey with the convenience pack and sunroof on it, will take delivery in a couple of weeks (or when the adaptation company can fit it in for an electric transfer plate).
Our friends here are right, charging on service stations is daylight robbery, if you can find somewhere else to charge (neighbours, some free charging still at super markets etc) would make a lot of sense.
For us, we are trying to take advantage of the solar panels and use the excess electricity for the car, we also have a battery for the evening!
For me it lacks a bit of power and i thought it was a bit noisy when i test drove it (used to my own fast Merc, this is the Mrs’s motability car) but we will get used to it and drive sensibly, and it will cost us almost nothing especially if we keep charging from the sun (at least 9 months a year).
But I can’t wait to enjoy the comfy sitting position, the massive boot (never had such a large boot) and all the tech on it!
I’ve had full EVs and also PHEVs in the past (Outlander, Renaults etc) and the battery tech has moved on light years ahead…
Can’t wait ! 🙂
Pick up date can’t come soon enough, enjoy your
thank you all for the excellent suggestions, much appreciated!
Thank you all for the kind advice, I appreciate it! I can always ask the dealer and see what they say…
Our BMW 2 Series ordered this week, we were told delivery June…
