You could start The Nürburgring Nordschleife Mobility Lap Record competition..I think the lap record for a Mini JCWs is 8 minutes 35 seconds. On a good run you should be aiming for around 9 minutes 30 seconds as a beginner. If you have them useless run flat tyres make it 10 minutes.
The key is to go round in green mode for one lap to get the tyres and brakes warmed up, pop into sport mode then floor it..Sabine Schmitz went round in a transit van without crashing.
I have been trying to order one for the last 6 weeks, eventually I was told no dealership are taking new orders due to a parts problem,it may back on the 1st October.
I contacted my local dealer first after several attempts they contacted me,I was told their JCW quota for the year has been filled(Mini UK said quotas are renewed every month) I asked for a test drive(as they’re were the only dealership in the reign to have a used JCW available) they said no,if you don’t order the car from us you can’t have a test drive, they said try their other franchise.
Hi Gold Member, you said send a lengthy email to the mini dealership general manager but which one there’s about 7 so far ?.Mini UK did contact me and said they will contact the dealer of my choice and they have apologised on their behalf.I didn’t put a complaint in I just phoned Mini UK about lead times and quotas ,as I’ve been given different information from dealer to dealer. To be honest I’m gone off the idea now I just can’t be bothered anymore.
I called them today to book another test drive (at the place I had a test drive)but they never returned my call. I know what spec I would have and probably ordered the auto there and then,I don’t have a mobility car at the moment.
I know there’s a chance it won’t be available that’s why I wanted a proper test drive, can’t you just do a review video?
Hi Winston,my test drive was canceled at the last minute(the staff member who’s car it was is away on a meeting?) and they didn’t suggest to book another one,I’ve contacted every dealer in the region now and I get the impression they don’t want to supply a JCW.I was told by one dealer the build quota is booked up for the year for their dealership,I called MINI UK they said build quotas are updated every month, they said there’s a 16 week wait but maybe longer and the spec may change if the chips are not available.one dealership said 16 weeks wait another said a year.
4 hours by yourself? You lucky git,..I’ve figured out why it was only 5 minutes, it was a brand new car off the show room floor. I contacted another dealership ( they have a used one in) I was told they’re reached their quota for JCW and I have to find another dealer,I asked if I could test drive the JCW they have and said no.I contacted another dealership who said they would call me right away but I haven’t had a call back yet.
My local Mini dealership has told me they’re not offering the JCW to motability customers, they are the only other dealership who has a JCW available to test drive.
Hi Mick,Winston and other JCW owners..I had the test drive today of a JCW auto it wasn’t what I expected,I was rather nervous because I’ve never driven an automatic before, the test consisted of 5 minutes in a car park and 5 minutes on the road within a 30/40 mph speed limit.I don’t think the car got out of 3rd gear.
I traveled quite a long way to drive a car round the block because my local dealership stated they have withdrew the JCW from their list.I still haven’t tested a JCW manual none seem to be available.I don’t want to sign for anything until I’m happy with the car and it’s suitable and definitely not after 5 minutes driving(I spend more time deciding what KFC to order after the test drive than driving the car)
Is this normal for mobility customers to have this experience? I was told nothing about the car,the radio, sat nav,the spec etc while in the car,I didn’t get to see the boot or even the key. With one local dealership not replying to any message since December, another saying they can’t be bothered offering the JCW to any mobility customer and with today’s experience I get the impression dealerships don’t make much money on mobility cars.I was told I need to book another test drive if I wanted to drive the car again but travelling miles to drive round the block doesn’t seem to be worth it.
Hi Mick,I think in America and Canada the premium plus pack is available in the manual.I’ve never driven an automatic before or a paddle shifter have nothing to compare it to.I guess you can use the auto pottering around town and the paddle shifter in sport mode.I would like to test drive a manual and auto but I don’t think that will be possible.
I was told yesterday there’s a 4 month waiting list,it all depends what model you’ve ordered.
I contacted another dealership and within an hour they called me and I have a test drive next week, they will try to get a manual to test as well as the auto but it may be difficult to find one..I may ask to test drive a JWC GP if they can’t find a manual ?.
Hi Mick thanks for the reply,
I thought it would be easy just make an appointment to test drive both cars at my local mini dealership and then decide, but the day i contact them is day the dealership manager has decided to pull the JCW from the list?.They’re the only dealership to have a used JCW 2023 to view.I’ve contacted several other dealerships about the JCW (one in January) had no reply.
Thanks for your reply,
I guess the only way to decide what’s better is to test drive both manual and automatic, the extra £500 for the premium plus is a bargain if you want the auto..I built my own mini JCW (on the mini website) Green,Red roof matching wing mirrors, piano interior, active suspension,JCW bonnet strips, darkened rear glass,17 inch tyres(don’t like run flat).I contacted the dealership and they’ve taken the JCW off their system ,but it’s available on the Mini website,I guess it up to the dealerships what cars they offer. If I can find a dealership that offers a JCW I would settle just to have a sit in one for starters.
Hello Whiston,May I just ask a few questions to you and the other JCW owners?
I have been interested in a JCW for a while now but the reviews of the automatic put me off, they say it holds the car back from its true potential, fortunately Mini have now put the manual JCW back into production so maybe it’s time to get one.
Did anyone opt for the Intelligent Adaptive Suspension?
What options did you order?(are they worth it?
Would you give up your auto premium plus for a manual premium?
What was the waiting time for the JCW?
To the new JCW owner who’s not used the Sport Mode yet shame on you (that’s the first button I’m pressing on the test drive ?)- AuthorReplies
