We have today got a chip on the windscreen (just one of those things).

Rang to get it sorted and surprised that not only is it around a 3 hr round trip of which we have to arrive by 8am. Also will take in excess of 3 hrs as windscreen will be replaced but there is nowhere to wait as they don’t provide a waiting area. Is on a business park outside of Preston. This seems ridiculous or is it just me.

Yes, it’s ridiculous. Maybe the job could be done at your local dealers, or at home if there’s no calibration required afterwards. I would complain to Motability.

First day I had my previous Yeti going along a motorway in heavy rain I got a chip/hole from a small stone thrown up by the van in front of me.  I heard the bang but when I checked I couldn’t see anything.

About 3 weeks later I found it, it was hidden under the windscreen wiper blade!.

My insurance arranged for it to be sorted at home, took them 2 visits as I had a heated windscreen and they brought the wrong one the first time, but it was done in about 60-90mins.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I don’t think anything has changed since I was unfortunate to have a very large crack in my screen 10 years ago and Autoglass came to my home to renew it.

Quote from Motability web site “if necessary, arrange for an Autoglass technician to visit you. You will need to tell them you are a Motability customer and present your certificate of insurance”

Number for Motability customers to Autoglass is 0300 037 9944.

We had the windscreen replaced on our BMW and that had to go to a depot in York which is 30 miles away. If you have sensors/camera it has to be calibrated and cannot be done at your home address.

I had a screen replaced at home by Autoglass on my C4 Grand Picasso, so far so good, but I was harrassed by calls and mail to get my car recalibrated for 2 years afterwards, even though the fitter confirmed with Autoglass trhat it didn’t have sensors so didn’t need it.

The recalibration centre was in South Glasgow somewhere, a 5 hour round trip. Only one in Scotland at the time.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
