34 pages not for nothing. We got the Hisesne E7H (43inch). ‘er indorrs reports everythign looks eally bright. Think maybe the LG needed replacing rather sooner. Things seem to have moved on a bit in the 5 and a half years since we last set up a TV. Getting signed in to Prime, DisneyPlus, Netflix eetc. all very easy nowadays. Enjoying myself using Alexa to override the fact that I don’t have control of the remote.
Glad to hear your happy with your new TV and your wife is pleased with the picture quality. Did you order it from the site Ive mentioned on this thread (prc direct) as they have a manufactuer 5yr guarantew. If not I leave a link at the bottom if you haven’t already registered the TV. It made mechuckle you taking over the TV with Alexa 🙂
LG prioritise their OLED TV’s over their lower end stuff and I tend not to recommend other than their QNED range. If your old set had lost its colour on one side its more than likely down to a backlight failure on that side.
Any questions on changing settings over time please ask I’ll be on here somewhere and I hope the TV serves you well and outlasts you old one. Take care both 🙂

March 14, 2023 at 8:46 am #215139I am delighted with the TV, it is large without being imposing, for £421 (over 5 months 0%) I really can’t complain.
I find it hard to believe there are levels of picture quality above this, i’m not sure my eyesight would be up to it. I have not moved beyond the standard setup and it seems to fair well in all conditions. Thank you again @Kezo, I would not be £421 poorer if it was not for your expertise.

March 14, 2023 at 10:40 pm #215243Not from PRC no, Costco, we’re already members, came with 5 year guarantee from there too I think though will check and register if not. 90 day return policy was a factor although I’m now in trouble at home for trashing the packaging on day 1 so looks like we’re committed. Oh well, if it wasn’t that then I’d be in trouble for something else so doesn’t make much difference.

Costco is fine as electronic purchased covers you for 5yrs and of course the 90day return policy. From my understanding I believe your happy with it anyway, although if your a warehouse member I think they would except it anyway regardless of packaging if you were to change your mind within 90days.
I get alot of my electrical stuff from costco if they have what I want on their site.

Glad to here your happy with the TV and hopefully mrs wmc is to. More over its good to hear your marrage is still intact and that your are a braver man than me 🙂
Any advice should you ever wish to dabble, I’d be happy to help. When I have time will do a thread on basic setting and compressing the guides into an easy to find place should it benifit anyone in the future.
As for this thread any recommendations will soon be out of date as manufacturers introduce newer models making it extremely difficult as time goes on to find older sets.
Yes here’s a Thanks also kezo, for the time and explanations teaching me a thing or two I was totally unaware off..
Not a problem anytime 🙂
@wigwam I can only assume your happy with your set given your absenteeism lol. Likewise I’m happy to provide any assistance going forwards if required 🙂Kezo@ sorry not been on was on YouTube last night a new Sasha nylon video was on ! Glad to here your feeling better in yourself now and I’d expect you would have had your CT scan by now if they were concerned.
I’d like to think youve benifitted from my guide and when the times right for you to get another TV, you can do so confidently 🙂
March 15, 2023 at 2:44 pm #215302Very happy, kezo. Only niggle is using an AV receiver for sound, the HDMI CEC function introduces delay when altering the sound level, making it difficult to trim the sound up and down slightly without waiting a moment after the last button press. The old Panasonic worked perfectly in that regard. Other than that, it’s great.
March 15, 2023 at 2:45 pm #215303I can indeed Kezo I think it’s the Costco offers this Sunday ? I shall be watching

Wigwam we have a problemo ? I would like to try and resolve this for you ?
Firstly Can you give me some information please:
Your AV receiver I think you said Yamaha – what model is it and its approx age. ?
Was your Pansonic purchased prior to 2013?
Except for the link between you anp and TV do you have any other devices such as a blu-ray player etc?
What HDMI port are you using on the TV?
I am going to say as a 99% guess I know what the issue could be 🙂
March 15, 2023 at 5:47 pm #215319Yamaha RX-V373 about 10 years old.
Panasonic TV also about 10 years old
Blu-ray player connected direct to TV HDMI 4
AV Receiver connected to HDMI 3 (eARC)
Using AV Receiver remote works fine but doesn’t display the volume level on the screen.
March 16, 2023 at 9:32 am #215352Kezo the 2022 tv model prices are coming down ie LG UQ7500 43 inch now just £279 at John Lewis with 5 year warranty ! It’s great new hope they drop the Oled prices

Cheers I’ll have a proper look later today mate 🙂
The proplem with CEC is there was no real set standard among manufacturers meaning setup can be slightly different among manufacturers, even turning one device on before the other can cause handshake issues and so on – Samsung for example is one of the worse as they don’t have HDMI certified ports. The introduction Enhanced ARC technically removed the need for CEC as HDMI cables incorporated ethernet so the handshake was done for you although not always seamless. AV manufacturers such as Sony, Pioneer and Technics (I have) offered firmware updates ARC-EARC.
Some things to try in the mean time.
Remove the HDMI cable >Turn off HDMI CEC settings > Turn off both the TV and amp and unplug them from the wall for 10 minutes, hopefully this will clear the cache without the need for a reset.
Turn the TV back on > Grab the original remote for now.
Navigate to settings > Speakers > TV speaker > Turn off TV speakers or choose audio out and select HDMI ARC if these are available.
Navigate to System > Scroll down to HDMI CEC > Turn HDMI control on > Take photos of this page for me.
Connect the HDMI cable – if possible use a certified HDMI 2 cable.
Turn on your Amp
The TV and amp should now be connected (I say this lightly)
Further things to try:
Ensure ARC is still turned on on your amp
Turn HDMI control off and back on, on your Amp
Set the AV audio channel on your Amp to match that of the HDMI port on the TV and turn HDMI control off and back on again.
Try this first then if necessary we will move on further and please take into account the setting above are a guide and may vary slightly, on name and how to access them 🙂
Have you got your set up as 5.1 sound or just two speaker stereo with sub?
March 16, 2023 at 1:33 pm #215385Kezo the 2022 tv model prices are coming down ie LG UQ7500 43 inch now just £279 at John Lewis with 5 year warranty ! It’s great new hope they drop the Oled prices
Hi Mike, Bare in mind the UQ75 is an entry level 4k tv sitting below both the UQ81 and UQ91 non qled TV’s The UQ75 been the lowest in the range was only around £479 when launched. After the UQ series you have Nanocell and then QNED.
On the other hand the A2 OLED was £1000 last year and has dropped to £620 seeing a greater reduction overall. Going from the previous years A1, the A2 has already hit its lowest retail price of £679 and it may see another £20-30 reduction ttaking it to £649, but thats not a guarantee when considering what the A1 fell to. Costco on the other hand is more of a trade warehouse and have it at £620ish, which I can’t see it going any lower and I expect the price to increase before falling back to that point again at some point.
Thebenifit of Costo’s return window, should it drop further they will refund the difference with no questions. Simply because folk woul get a refund and order it at the lower price, the same principle as any retail store.
The Hisense A85 may drop a touch below £599 at costco but this would be rare as its more akin to the LG C1/C2 depending on size. At launch Hisense tracks the equivulent LG price wise before dropping a bit lower. Considering the LG C1/C2 bottomed at around £999 retail, the Hisense at £599 at Costco was an excellent price considering the cheapest retail is currently £720.
March 16, 2023 at 1:52 pm #215386Thanks Kezo. Followed that to the letter. TV audio input on the Yamaha defaults to AV3 – other options make no difference to anything.

Lets keep things simple for the time being!
The TV looks as if its recognising all the devices. Are you able to turn all devices on and off via the tv remote? If this is the case is there any slight delay in doing so?
How far away is your amp from the TV and have you got 5.1 setup?
Ideally we should concentrate on TV and amp which I should of said sorry. Try removing your firestick and blu-ray out the loop for now, although its unlikely to make any difference.
Have you tried using ARC on HDMI 4 on the TV?
Do you know what version of HDMI cables you are using? although version of 1.4 saw the introduction of ARC, HDMI 2 came out in 2015 and has the ability to transfer data faster. For the sake of a fiver or so depending on lengh I would get a certified 2.0b (2016) just to rule this out. (I use a company called Kenable who are online or Ebay). Think of it as a iphone charge cable, some work well and others not so well n all functons

March 16, 2023 at 10:57 pm #215435No delay, kezo. Cable between the TV and the AV Receiver is 1.5 metres. Yes 5.1 setup but no rear speakers. I’ll pull the cables off tomorrow and have a look at them. I have a few.
March 18, 2023 at 8:01 am #215534@kezo, I have three cables, all marked High Speed with Internet. Tried them all between the TV and AV receiver, no difference. Also unplugged the other HDMI devices, leaving just the one cable. Also no difference.
The Panasonic passed the volume change without any delay, so I think this is a software issue in the Hisense.

Since checking for firmware/software updates when you first had your TV, have you checked recently?
When you first got the TV, I remember you wanted to test the internal speakers. With the AV reciever out of the loop did CEC behave as should with your firestick and blue-ray?
Concentrating soley on CEC for a minute – On your AV is it possible to to turn ARC off and still have CEC ability. If can’t do this swap HDMI ports with your firestick on the TV (firestick HDMI 3 – AV HDMI 2) You should still have CEC control on your AV.
Can you put pictures up of what settngs are available in ARC settings (on/off) if this is available – Audio setings and Advanced audio settings pages on your TV please.
I’m going to have a food read of your AVR manual Ive downloaded later wheb mrs kezo is watching the Saturday evening. rubbish.
Don’t give up you aren’t the only one with problems and certainly won’t be the last. As the saying goes theres more than one way to skin a cat (no pun intended) 🙂

Oh!
No worries Mike I’m here whenever you need, whether for a chat or advice 🙂
March 18, 2023 at 1:42 pm #215577Thanks @kezo. Software updated itself a few days ago. Firestick and Blueray player both work as expected using the TV remote. I’ve ordered some new slightly longer cables which will make plugging/unplugging easier. I’ll look at your other suggestions when I get them.
