I thought I would make a thread on what caught you eye in the news good or bad. This follows on from last week when I posted about the MP Lee Anderson who suggested we could cook a meal from scratch for 30p and foodbanks weren’t needed if we could cook.
So today another Tory MP Racheal Maclean the safeguarding minister has said “That people struggling with the cost of living should take on more hours or move to a better-paid job”
How does a comment like this help the most vulnerable in society. Those that can’t work, the disabled pensioners or even those that can only take up low paid work for what ever reason. I find Mp’s and ministers are so out of touch with with the public, the comments they come out with are beyond nonsense.

October 18, 2022 at 8:55 pm #198534Nothing new there. For the same reason (energy saving) the UK worked an hour ahead during WWII. Operated on summertime in the winter and double summertime in the summer, putting us on the same time zone as western Europe. Didn’t end until 1947.

Did it save a few shillings?
Your pic kind of sums up the situation perfectly 🙂

10.1%
Your move Ms Truss.

Some very interesting comment left by the people of Wales, from the Wales on line news site..
1450 at the moment, lots about where this clown has wasted all the money…
October 19, 2022 at 4:32 pm #198581I would prefer dripford anyday compared to RT.
October 20, 2022 at 1:33 pm #198633Rumours the PM will resign today , making her the shortest reigning PM in history!.
October 20, 2022 at 1:39 pm #198634Truss resigned and will stay on untill another PM is found in a week!
October 20, 2022 at 1:47 pm #198635Clearly it’s the wheel that’s broken, not the hamster peddling it. Shambles.
October 20, 2022 at 1:48 pm #198636And the technocrats take over…
October 20, 2022 at 1:50 pm #198637As she walks out of those revolving doors another walks through, in the never ending game of Tory musical chairs.
The Tories are not only making a mockery of the UK, but also a laughing stock around the world. If they had any morals they would do as the majority of elecorate want and call a GE!
October 20, 2022 at 1:52 pm #198638a disasterous 45 days had ended for her; but what of us, the people??
demand a general election and get everyone rowing the boat in same direction

October 20, 2022 at 2:18 pm #198640We have had 3 PM’s this year alone, 2 of whom that have come in without a GE.
Calls for a GE will only grow stronger in the comming days.
After Cameron resigned May became PM without a GE followed by Boris, Although he did hold a GE in 2019. Truss then came to power without a GE, nor will her predecessor.
October 20, 2022 at 2:30 pm #198641No point calling, kezo. It won’t happen. Brady has said there will be two candidates, and for the election to PM to be completed in the two weeks suggested, one candidate will have to drop out and the winner “appointed.
October 20, 2022 at 2:57 pm #198643The Independent understands Boris Johnson will be one of them. How true this is I don’t know?
@Wigwam At the moment the Tories still hold a majority and unlikey to agree to a GE given the mess they are in, but alot will now boil down to the next PM on whether they can still govern as a majority. The question is will they still beable to govern for the next 2yrs and how wisely will they choose their next leader within a week and the new PM will be in office on the 28th.
October 20, 2022 at 3:00 pm #198644My guess is the deal is already done. We will get Sunak. Will he deliver an electable party in two years time? Unlikely.
October 20, 2022 at 3:32 pm #198646boris will likely get it… it was plan all along

Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistOctober 20, 2022 at 4:46 pm #198649The most expensive piece of cake ever ?
Keef Charmer and the Labour hypocrites , supported by remainers of every ilk , but especially by
the clowns in the 1922 Committee , and a selfish nasty cabal in Cabinet, drove Boris ( the biggest election winner in living memory ) out into the arms of America, where they love him! Why, get rid, well because he was a bigger clown than they were they said and Keef said he was a cake eater, and a bigger liar than Tony Blair , and that takes some doing.
The clowns get rid of the audience’s favourite and replace him with an even bigger clown, who kept tripping over her size 59 clown shoes, whilst Keefee boy stirs the pot , hoping for a nibble !
Now there will be another Biggest Clown Contest , probably between ‘Mr Sunny but nasty ‘ and maybe the Navy girl -what a lark, left Hand down a bit?
Yep followed by an early GE, when Nasty or Navy will exit stage left and Another Clown will occupy the Downing St., circus- oh what a night ?
Unless of course the tousled haired, pot bellied, Bullington Club yob catches the red eye from JFK ?

Give Boris another chance.
October 20, 2022 at 5:39 pm #198652Amusing and well put @Mike 700
Now there will be another Biggest Clown Contest , probably between ‘Mr Sunny but nasty ‘ and maybe the Navy girl -what a lark, left Hand down a bit?
Rishi rich nasty boy is not an election winner by the majority of the electorate and he knows it. However he will bask in glory becoming what he has always wanted. As for the Navy girl, she lacks the experience of the job and will become part of the Tory game of musical chairs. Either way these two would see the Tories put in the history for a long time. Can Wallace save them, that I don’t know but very unlikely in my book.
I don’t think any other party at this time could make any worse of a job or make a mockery of the UK as the Tories hav. However there is no political party including the cons fit to run the country. The UK is in the shit, not because of Brexit but the sheer lack of competence to run the country, its embarrasing
