Great news, more EV’s and the long speculated VW ID3 has arrived on the scheme, some are pricey, but £999 starting price is good especially with the potential savings.
Tope spec Tour Pro S is 204bhp and just under £43k, so another nice move regarding the old Caps
Life Pro 62kWh at £999
Life Pro Performance 62kWh at £1249
Family Pro 62kWh at £2649
Family Pro Performance 62kWh at £2949
Tour Pro S 82kWh at £4499
Max Pro Performance 62kWh at £4649

vinnym70Wow – I’d like to see inclusion of a 13A 3-pin plug charing cable provided on all cars. You’re likely to find it comes in handy at some point – especially in those unforeseeable situations that you haven’t planned for. You’re not always going to be close to a fast charger for a good few years yet, especially if you live rurally.

My bad, but this is confusing.
Looks like VW supply the car with a Mode 3 cable, but that needs a home charging point, do VW supply the home charging point free?
The Mode 2 (Granny cable) that plugs into a 13 amp socket is an optional extra, plus the also specify a third type of cable, again as an optional extra

AzzyI’ve seen a few of these on the road as I live 5mins from a dealership and they do look good, range seems good too and APs seem decent but i can’t get along with that interior, it looks so budget, it reminds me of the VW UP. The corners VW have taken to get this to a certain price point isn’t good IMO.
March 23, 2021 at 9:51 am #143273@Intranicity. You are right it is confusing, the Mode 3 cable is supplied with the car and the 3 Pin (Granny Cable) is an optional extra which does seem a bit mean. The home wall charger is free through the Motability Scheme who use BP Pulse for the installation and supply of the Wall Charger.

ChubI have just ordered one you get the type 2 charging lead but not the granny charger. You can obviously buy them from screw fix and Amazon.
March 23, 2021 at 1:36 pm #143312@Chub. Which one did you order?
March 23, 2021 at 4:40 pm #143327
ChubFamily pro the longer range would of been nice S pro but apparently the family pro is the same just less miles. Just hope I haven’t jumped in too soon.
March 23, 2021 at 4:46 pm #143328@Chub Good to see someone else making the switch, will be good to hear what you think of it when it arrives, did they give you any lead time? As to jumping in to soon, is that to EV’s in particular, or the ID3?

2023 - Hyundai Kona Electric UltimateMarch 23, 2021 at 5:04 pm #143330@Chub After looking at PHEV’s and then the ID3 coming on the scheme I decided I would make the switch to full EV. Due to me starting to have to go to Papworth Hospital starting in July I went for the Tour S Pro because of the range it gives me, I also like the space in the car.. I don’t think we are jumping in to soon, as a lot of the software updates and problems that have been mentioned on the various reviews should have been sorted.
@Intranicity the lead times I have been quoted are 12 to 14 weeks.March 23, 2021 at 6:16 pm #143337When I jumped in last year for the Pug e2008 I wondered if it was too soon, but a year in & only 2 more years to go until it’s time to look for the next EV, I jumped in at the right time, it’s probably always the right time as long as the range etc., covers what you need in everyday use.
Please return some time after you get the Tour S Pro & leave us a write up.

ChubI’m sitting here looking at reviews on you tube thinking the aloys look better the, sun roof is amazing but you loose one seat I’m stuck this was always my dream car for now. Lol ? will most definitely let you know when I get the car salesman just said I’ll contact you when it’s built. ?
March 23, 2021 at 7:45 pm #143347Will do @gothitjulie. Yes by the time you change in two years there will be a far greater choice of EVs’ to choose from.
@Chub. The Tour S Pro is now built with 5 seats. It seems they got round the weight problem the car had with the larger capacity batteries, that’s why it’s not fitted with a sunroof.
March 23, 2021 at 9:25 pm #143354
ChubOooohhhhh noooo why did you tell me that ?thinking even more still have time to change family pro order is in but the extra 70 miles makes me feel a little safer
March 23, 2021 at 10:27 pm #143359@Chub. I had ordered a different car but the next day once I realised the iD3 Tour Pro S was on the scheme I cancelled my original order without any problem. I did check with the sales guy that it came with 5 seats and he said definitely. The trouble is the VW brochure still has it down as a four seater. The extra miles make me feel a lot happier. I was not too bothered about the sunroof.
March 24, 2021 at 8:02 am #143364I`m so glad i jumped in when i did, i love my Soul and will never go back to a ICE car ever again. Almost 2 months in and once adjusted i have no range anxiety or any other worries at all, in fact i just love driving all over again.
Just watch that right foot, that instant injection of power is more addictive than a class A drug.

ChubAt the end of the year I ordered a Mokka the salesman advised me that it may not be suitable so I cancelled boy am I glad I did this little beauty came for me not long after . ??
March 24, 2021 at 9:15 am #143368Congrats to all you ID3 orderers. I have two years to wait, like Julie, before I can order and since she has persuaded me the BEV is the way to go, I shall probably be ordering an ID3. It ticks all the boxes on range, performance etc. Only drawbacks are those touch-screen controls. Hope that VW will put in some proper switches, buttons and knobs in a couple of years.
Am tempted by the forthcoming Kia and Hyundai designs but no guarantee they’ll make it on to scheme AND they seem much more Crossover/SUV-ish that the VW. Too big and don’t like having to climb up to get in.
March 24, 2021 at 9:26 am #143370
KevinBelieve the ID3 seats are 7 inches higher than the golf, due to the batteries underneath, not quite a suv but going that way, sorry cant remember where i saw it but worth checking out if you to keep seat low
March 24, 2021 at 9:42 am #143374@Chub. I have just had an email from my VW salesman to now inform me that the ID3 Tour does not have 5 seats. They have just had an order come in to them and all Tour versions have got 4 seats. Sorry about the wrong info. I have had to cancel my order as I cannot have a car with 4 seats. I am going to contact Motability as they have listed the Tour Pro S with 5 seats.

KevinTop Gear Review
You sit fairly high – closer to crossover altitude than a Golf’s seat – which carves out room for the low-slung batteries which give the ID3 that classic low centre of gravity behaviour. With the split A-pillars ahead of you and the steeply raked bonnet, it feels more MPV than SUV from inside, and pleasingly glassy. What’s good for visibility is also pleasing to passengers, and provokes more altruism from your driving, because you’re ‘on display’. Only the slim rear window and thick pillars out back hinder the ID3’s goldfish bowl experience.
Hope this helps Tharg cant find the one that says 7 inches higher if i do will let you know
