Got an update from the dealer still showing a February delivery date. That’s the last three monthly updates showing the same delivery, surely it can’t change at this late date.

WigwamDealer should be able to give you the scheduled production week, Brydo. Mine was then 11 days from production to delivery at the dealers. It looks promising…

martinodBrydo when did you order it xc4o phev why did you want give up your other xc4o
i ordered xc40 awd in october the day before it was taken off motability but motability accepted the order i got a call last week from volvo to say they cant supply the car but the new 2023 model will be out next week and he will let me know what model what fuel ev or phev and what advance payment, but id need to make a new application
i want awd/4×4 but theres not much choice left in mid size cars
oh what to do
January 21, 2022 at 2:23 am #175008martinod the petrol xc40 is giving me mid to high 20 mpg so thePHEV looked a far better option for the type of journey’s i make, mostly local.

Id be very careful Martinod and talk to Motability first and certainly before the dealer cancels your existing order. With Volvo not on the scheme at present I can’t see how they can place a new order for you, unless Motability agrees to an exception which I should think is unlikely.
January 21, 2022 at 10:20 am #175022yeah, not sure how it can be worked if its not on scheme. umless they just do a swap, but everything including ap will be wrong etc..

ajnShame the xc40 B4 only lasted months Brydo, that gas guzzler will be on the road for another 9 years of pollution due to your change of mind..
However hopefully you settle with this xc40 you’ve ordered now ?..

I would hope that a Volvo would last a lot longer than 10 years. I knew someone who rattled around in one that was about 20 years old!
January 21, 2022 at 5:25 pm #175055There’s an old barge type Volvo estate down the road here K reg so will be 30 this year. It’s not I would call tidy but it goes.

had an old barge volvo myself. it had been a company directors car and was beautiful in and out and even had a car phone which was rare for its day. great car and only sold it when my mechanic said to. one of the niceest cars i ever had. wasnt a drivers car tho, just a comfort machine.. my big old saab was the opposite and a real piece of driverability. loved that car until it just got too old to be economic. shame saab went belly up

ajnWigwam, I know a family in business, they have had a Volvo like you mention for years old tatty but goes still, chatting to one of the Grandson’s (friend of my Son)..
He said his vw van had problems & had to use the Volvo for stock pick up.
His description, what a banger but it started after months…
My reply it got the job done lad..
He agreed..

CapuchinThose old barges are relatively climate efficient, as opposed to 3x cars producing 3x less emissions scrapped every 10 years. Not sure the exact figures, but I’m pretty sure it’s more climate friendly to run a classic than a new electric car.

Gja we ordered in June last year. Original delivery date was August/September, then October, November, December then February. Might make it in February but could be first week in March.

GJAThanks Brydo. Ah, mine was ordered 1st September. Wasn’t given an indication of time initially, but the my did quote April when I chased it up in December. I can see that slipping to June. I’m not too bothered to be honest, as I’m quite happy with the current car.
February 18, 2022 at 5:05 pm #177861GjA I was really angry with the dealer as the other two dealers I went to said December/January for the order and this guy said he could get it in September at the latest.

GJAOh dear. He was either deluded, mistaken or flat out lying. My dealer was honest from the off and said he couldn’t really say when the car would turn up, other than it likely wouldn’t be 2021.
February 18, 2022 at 7:42 pm #177881
ajnWell the guy who dealt with our order simply flat out lied GJA,
I should’ve known really…the wooden nose ??
