Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Congrats Steph! On hearing your fabulous news earlier decided to call my dealer Lookers Glasgow to enquire if he had any update for me. Yes your car is here in the garage. Amazing not quite, “this is your original order, before we cancelled due to the decrease in adp. Ok well I’ll agree to paying the extra £500 difference. No this car has to be returned to Volvo. I’ve pleaded asked for an update on the reordered car there is none!!! Doesn’t even know if it’s built. To say I’m lost for words presently is an understatement.
That is the most ridiculous statement from Volvo I’ve ever heard in my life!!
Im in shock 😮So the one in the garage, is it the exact same order just changed because of the 500£ ADP drop.
I did the same as you Rose reordered to save the 500£ my dealer told me they just changed the ARN number so I’ll get my original car just 500£ cheaper. And it will be the MY24
A secondary order will be July and the MY25
May 2, 2024 at 8:11 pm #276729Oh my goodness! I’m in shock! That feels like a massive case of ‘computer says no’ instead of just…common sense!
May 2, 2024 at 8:16 pm #276730Hi,
Yes the exact same order no changes. The dealer stated it’s a different motability order number that’s why they can’t honour it. Absolute nonsense how then did they know it was mine if it was cancelled? I’m willing and agree to pay the extra still no. I particularly want the my 24 as I want the 360 camera. I’m calling motability first thing tomorrow however I don’t hold out much hope for an amicable resolution.
May 2, 2024 at 8:22 pm #276731Crazy, makes no logical sense. I think everyone on this thread who has ordered an XC40 can all agree that the experience since our first ordering our cars has been nothing short of an awful ordeal and that we all have so little confidence in anything they tell us by now. Which generally isn’t very much as we’ve gleaned far more accurate information from each other than we have from Volvo and their dealer network.
Never again, Volvo couldn’t organise a booze up in a brewery! 👎
May 2, 2024 at 11:10 pm #276734Very sorry to read all this bad news from Volvo, but sadly this comes as no surprise to me after 5 years of owning this same car and explaining just how catastrophic this company has become it’s failure to do even the simple things. Count your blessings if you’ve not got the car and move on to a different one, I beg you.
May 3, 2024 at 11:10 am #276751Update
There is no update. Spoke with motobility who contacted dealership but no change. I won’t be receiving my original order that was supposedly cancelled 😡. I’ll have to wait on my reorder and no timescale or whereabouts. Why even disclose to me that my original order was sitting in their compound…
The wait continues
May 3, 2024 at 12:19 pm #276759I would have lost my rag by now and told them to stick it where the sun don’t shine!

What dealership are you with Rose x
May 3, 2024 at 2:45 pm #276768Lookers Glasgow Hillington, they have excellent private sales reviews however my own experience in dealing with them has not been a great experience.
May 3, 2024 at 4:21 pm #276771Sounds like the dealer is talking complete b@ll@cks!
I’d bet the car won’t be returned to Volvo and that he has a private buyer for it 🙁
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
May 7, 2024 at 11:39 am #276947Good Morning All
Hope your all well!
Anyone any updates over the Bank Hol?
I’ve emailed my dealer this morning again so I will update here when I get a response.Steph L x 😊
May 7, 2024 at 11:56 am #276948Hi, I received another email over the weekend, to advise, yet again, there is no update!

Nope, emailed dealer last Friday about the car that should have been delivered to them back on 26.04 and no reply. Probably getting fed up with customers inquiring about their cars but when something has been so inept as this whole experience it’s not a surprise the just might be inundated right now.
Reading of customers on the EX30 forum that have had cars delivered but they’ve been in the wrong colours!! Farcical when ordering a £40,000 car! If it wasn’t for my problems in finding an acceptable level of comfort in a car seat with nerve problems in my leg I would have cancelled my order ages ago. I’ve test driven a number of cars over the past few months but just can’t sit comfortably in the seat for even a short drive hence keeping my Volvo order.
May 7, 2024 at 12:43 pm #276951I’ve emailed over a week ago and no reply from Gloucester. Did rant on FB to the Volvo online SM rep, obvious they can’t access any info on Motability cars. Did suggest in a week they maybe would be able to give info! Gave me the complaints link.
Wish I’d gone to the other car dealers appointment I had on the 4th Dec. I’d drive anything to get my daughter places.-

Wasnt it yours and UncJ cars delivered late April as your the same dealer? Whats happened to those cars?
The mind absolutely boggles that non of us have actually received 1 car yet! And there’s 27 people on this one thread,
Minus the lady in Ireland who I think got hers.
And Poor Rose’s is there … but she can’t have it!! 🤦🏽♀️😢

Im the same really, I have Arthritis all in my coccyx, hips, thighs, lower back and nerve damage, I’m 5ft 10 and need the height of a car as it gets worse so I chose the Volvo after looking at multiple other SUV’s I do own my own car but it’s a BMW 1 Series it’s way to low and I’ll just sell it, so in my case I’m not without a vehicle but that’s not the point is it, I/We all have no actual delivery date after ordering nearly 6 months ago!
You’re right… Farce! 😏😩
May 7, 2024 at 2:04 pm #276961As you know I was due to get my car tomorrow however the guy has just called and said it has to be pushed to next Monday as there is a 48 hour stop on deliveries of motability cars (something to do with the taxing/registration of the vehicles). So its a bit disappointing but at least I’m getting some for of updates and what sounds like (I hope) imminent delivery, which is more that what it sounds like many of you are getting! Will keep you posted, I have a horrible feeling Monday could also be pushed out at this rate!!

Yes, mine is somewhere stuck with UncJ’s – so close but so far 🤷♀️

Do you think it’s merely coincidence that both of us have emailed them in the last week and neither of us have received a reply?
I’m starting to wonder if there’s a bit more to this. 🤨
May 8, 2024 at 12:01 pm #277020Got an email this morning, car ordered Jan 15th at Edinburgh:
“Hi John
Just letting you know i still do not have a confirmed dealer delivery date for your order. As soon as i here anything i will give you a call or e-mail with any dates i might recieve.
Kind Regards”
I know of another Motability order at the same dealership on January 10th and no news either.
May 8, 2024 at 12:38 pm #277027Hi everyone in this bizarre’club’we find ourselves in ..
I called my dealer -South East London for an update on my order placed 19/12/23 ..initially he had no news just that it would likely be end of May but confirmed it was built … a few minutes later he called back & said an update had just come saying my car was built in April & is now in the Uk 🇬🇧 plus has a number plate assigned 🤷♀️I’m not going to celebrate just yet as we all know I think until you get confirmed collection day best to keep quiet 🤐 Hopefully positive news will start to come through for you all too 🤞May 8, 2024 at 1:47 pm #277026Dealer phoned last Sunday, said he has a list of what’s coming (being allocated in the order they were placed)
Mine will be a July delivery. Ordered 4th Feb. could be earlier but expect July.
I also asked about the MY24, he said he’s getting MY25 delivered in with the 24 and not to expect a MY24.
I like sitting outside RAF bases all day pretending to be a photogramapher
May 8, 2024 at 2:08 pm #277035I’m afraid I don’t believe a word anyone who works for Volvo says now, 5 months in and still no car. The dealers just say what they want as has been proven on this thread. All sorts of statements and projections yet …. *NONE* of them have come true, not one. The dealers know nothing it seems when it comes down to it.
I’m 50/50 on cancelling my order right now and keeping my own car. Absolute clown show! 😒
May 8, 2024 at 2:28 pm #277036@UncJ I totally agree! Shambolic and completely unacceptable, yet it appears neither our Dealerships nor Volvo HO are willing to disclose why the delays are occurring, it’s a very strange state of affairs! I too, struggle to believe anything I am told from either source.

It’s just so frustrating, isn’t it? I was thinking back from early December last year and the only (if you can call them that!) updates I’ve received from my dealer has been the result of me phoning/emailing them myself. Not once have I received an unsolicited update. And going by most on this thread you’re all getting the same, shockingly poor levels of service.
You’d have hoped that Motability removing Volvo from the scheme temporarily might have made Volvo up their game but there’s no sign of that happening at all. 😞
