Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Totally agree. The lack of transparency and clarity displayed thus far to ourselves, as Customers is, I feel, totally unacceptable.
April 24, 2024 at 12:27 pm #276286So as I posted the other day the statement from Volvo we should all know today by the close of business where our cars are and date of delivery. My dealer is on holiday until Tuesday so I will know then (I knew this) Please advise us on here if anyone gets that information today. And all Volvo models have been removed from MB for the foreseeable Good Luck Guys I’m actually highly confident we will all have our new cars by early/ mid May latest (after all checks and registration etc)
So, did you hear anything from your dealer in the end? ?
April 24, 2024 at 1:29 pm #276287Hi UncJ
So I waited until 6.28pm last night for the call (as I know my dealer leaves at 6.30) as I’d had no call on return from his holiday
Long story short… he had the spreadsheet of ordered and names… but not had chance to look at it all day as he had 174 emails, 2 handovers and customers in the showroom to deal with!! He said he would look at it this morning it’s now 1,30pm and I have had no information, no call, no email, no nothing again,
He did say yesterday that customers now ordering as retail are being told 9 months wait.
I feel deflated, tired of chasing him, and getting nowhere. I give up!Has anyone else had anymore information? Or actually gotten their car?
I did ask yesterday are MB customers at the back of the queue, as I know there are hundreds of 24 plates on their forecourt! He said No… we are just fleet customers so can’t be given a retail vehicle.
When I do eventually get my car, I’ll be making the biggest complaint known to man!
April 24, 2024 at 1:41 pm #276289I forgot to add he said… “it’s like a lottery” who is getting their cars and there is no order to it.
This is so unacceptable!Ive just been on Volvo website to “order” a new car exactly like we are getting and the earliest delivery date is 4 Weeks. NOT 9 months! That’s as a retail customer!
April 24, 2024 at 1:59 pm #276292Cheers for the reply. I share your woe, as you say it’s just unacceptable. ?
April 24, 2024 at 3:00 pm #276294Never posted before, but have been watching this forum since I ordered my XC40 on 8th Dec.
Today I picked up my vehicle! Was told by Volvo dealer (Lloyds Group) delivery would be end of March at time of order. It actually arrived last week, but took a few extra days as Volvo UK registered it with a 24-plate instead of mine, so only a couple of weeks later than anticipated.
However, I’m the lucky one (the only MB client the dealer is aware of that has had any Volvo through the scheme yet, it took him by surprise when it turned up!). He took 30+ orders before MB pulled the plug on Volvo (he said is was MB’s decision due to the chaos, not Volvo’s) and doesn’t know where any of his other vehicles are currently. I was 3rd on his list, so there are 2 MB customers who ordered first week of December before me who are still waiting. He also said that all new orders made in the last few weeks have had delivery dates pushed back, now looking at September at the earliest.
I realise that I am very lucky (I’ve never been first at anything in my life!) but wanted to let you good folks know that XC40s are finally trickling through!

Typical dealer BS. It’s never random. Long delays, when other orders come much quicker, are always the same issue. Dealer accepted the order when they had few or no build allocation slots and those they have had were prioritised to other customers. I suspect that they sat on your order for several months before being able to place it with the factory, but they will never own up to that!
April 24, 2024 at 3:48 pm #276299Congratulations Yorkie, very happy for you Xx
April 24, 2024 at 3:53 pm #276300Wow, great news & good for you! ??
I’m wondering if you are the *only* mb customer in the country to receive one so far? Possibly. Enjoying the car so far? Any problems?
April 24, 2024 at 4:07 pm #276301Well done Yorkie enjoy your new car ?You must be the first on MB. I went in on Monday 4th to Gloucester and think it appeared on MB on the Friday before?
April 24, 2024 at 4:08 pm #276302So I have now had ” the phone call” from my very laid back chap Adrian in Waylands Newbury. He was a bit sheepish and said ” i have news, it may not be good news, but it is at least some information”.
My order from 1st Feb is now due in July ” hopefully”.
And it is going to be a MY24 version
He gave me some bluster about the factory being shut down and not re-opening till May .
As I love my current R line Tiguan , I am not in any hurry for the XC40, which is good thing given April has now turned into July. If I was carless, or running an unreliable /expensive non scheme car, then I would be mightily P’d off. As I was at the 10 month time I had between ordering my Tiguan and delivery.
April 24, 2024 at 5:11 pm #276305My MB car is in. Just waiting for handover date. XC40.
April 24, 2024 at 5:43 pm #276307Just a quick update guys,
Just had a phone call from my dealer (Preston Lancs),
If you remember I ordered on 29/12/23 but on the 2/2/24 cancelled and reordered to save the £500 AP that dropped
ThereFor he’s just rang to say…. They’ve built me 2 cars!!! For goodness sakes!
I was April build (that’s built) due delivery early May and the second car ready for build in May for delivery early JuneHe spoke to Fleet hub, obviously I’m only getting 1 car, the April build, and it’s due May. No exact date as of yet.
So they are trickling through, just very slowlyBy May end we all be driving our new cars I have a good feeling.
Congratulations to those who have them already x
April 25, 2024 at 3:41 pm #276354My MB car is in. Just waiting for handover date. XC40.
Good news!
April 27, 2024 at 12:27 pm #276466Well I have just emailed our dealership to ask about our April / May arrival and have been informed that they have received a spreadsheet that shows our build date will be May. Build date! ? I am surprised and very disappointed this news wasn’t voluntarily shared with me as soon as they knew.
I am wondering what version that will mean now and how long from build date to arrival with us.April 27, 2024 at 1:53 pm #276469Yes these spreadsheets should be available to all MB customers now as to where you are with your vehicle, in my case I’m an April build… and a June build I was down for 2 cars!! Madness! The whole experience has been a shambles
April 27, 2024 at 2:10 pm #276470You’d think Motability would step in to assist with this fiasco!

Well if it’s a May build that should be a MY25 as the factory has been retooled for this now.
Getting beyond farcical now, a May build?! I was told by my dealer a while ago my car would definitely be a MY24 but I’m having my doubts. The dealers in general seem to be making stuff up as they go along as they’ve been getting no information from Volvo.
I’ve emailed my dealer about this spreadsheet. If I get told it’s a May build that would probably be a July delivery at the earliest. They can stick the order if that happens and I’ll abandon Motability. Utter farce!
April 27, 2024 at 3:15 pm #276477Maybe there is a little hope of getting cars shortly, for some anyway.
Just heard back from dealer (who, to be fair, always replies very quickly) and my car should have been delivered to dealer last Friday. Attached a copy of the relevant columns from the Volvo spreadsheet too showing this.
Here’s hoping! ?
April 27, 2024 at 3:41 pm #276478Let me know UncJ if yours arrives. I ordered a mild hybrid from Gloucester and now I’m driving a very expensive hire-car for the week. Grrr

Certainly will do. By rights yours should be on the same car transporter as you ordered a few days earlier than I did.
Strange question to ask you – Did you upgrade your seats on your order as dealer told me the order before me upgraded from cloth seats to the microfiber ones? ?
April 27, 2024 at 4:10 pm #276480uncJ – not a strange question at all- yes I did, it’s me!!! and added blacked out windows. That I think is done at the dealership. So hopefully we are both waiting for a phonecall.
April 27, 2024 at 4:20 pm #276481Great, hopefully it’s not too long now. I was going to have the tints done but I can get it done £170 cheaper by a firm I’ve used several times so I’ve gone with that.
It usually takes about a week to do the PDI once the car arrives so there’s that to take into account as well.

Thanks you for the information as it’s our first Motability car.
April 27, 2024 at 10:46 pm #276488No news at all from Edinburgh Volvo on three cars. One was ordered on 10th Jan, one on 15th Jan and another in early Feb.
Will update this thread if there is any news.
