Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Doesn’t surprise me, shocking company. I don’t see them lasting much longer as ongoing personally
April 19, 2024 at 12:30 am #275863Is everybody on the list waiting in for a phone call tomorrow?

To be honest jOhn I’m not. I’m hoping it happens but I’m not exactly filled to the brim with confidence it will happen.
Obviously I hope I’m completely wrong and will post here if I do hear anything from dealer.
April 19, 2024 at 8:00 am #275865I’ve requested an update from my dealership. I’ll post if I receive any response.
April 19, 2024 at 2:05 pm #275893So as I posted the other day the statement from Volvo we should all know today by the close of business where our cars are and date of delivery. My dealer is on holiday until Tuesday so I will know then (I knew this)
Please advise us on here if anyone gets that information today.
And all Volvo models have been removed from MB for the foreseeableGood Luck Guys I’m actually highly confident we will all have our new cars by early/ mid May latest (after all checks and registration etc)
April 19, 2024 at 4:05 pm #275898GOOD NEWS
Just spoke to the dealer in Hinckley. My car should arrive today or Monday. Volvo XC40
April 19, 2024 at 4:07 pm #275899Well it’s Friday, it’s just passed 4 pm and as I suspected absolutely zero.
Starting to wish I’d signed up for the Alfa Romeo Tonale I test drove a couple of months back. A lot more money and I’d have had to use a cushion to soften the seat but I’d have been driving the car around for over a month by now. ?

Congratulations. When did you order?

Oh! Maybe there is some hope then. ?
April 19, 2024 at 4:26 pm #275902Hi Everyone,
I originally placed my order the 1st week in December. When I noticed the AP decrease at the beginning of January I made contact with my dealer who stated a new order would have to be made regardless of the fact I wasn’t changing anything. The new order went through in the second week of January. I have just spoken to him and sadly for me he’s stating he has no visibility of my order. However he did say he’s making contact with his customers who ordered there’s at the beginning of December. I’m based in Scotland.
April 19, 2024 at 4:53 pm #275904Even if Volvo actually let their dealers/agencies know today, I can’t see them sending out mails to all their customers immediately. I’d love to think it’s all automated but my guess is someone will be spending a lot of time going through a long report and then manually emailing each customer. Of course, they could also just do nothing on the basis of it being too much hard work.

I know of three orders that went into Edinburgh on the 10th, and 15th of January and the other at the beginning of February. Nobody from the January ones has heard anything. The person from the February one is in hospital at the moment so I don’t expect to hear from them.

April 19, 2024 at 7:56 pm #275919Hi I’ve just joined this forum as I ordered an XC40 on the 4th December ‘23 and so far have only had the information from the dealership in Gloucester that the car will arrive ‘shortly’ that was 1 1/2 weeks ago! It’s now at the point where I’m going to have to hire a car next Friday for a week. We have been carless for coming up to 5 months when we were expecting 3 months. Hoping someone here has good news soon to give us hope.

Hi, same dealer as myself then and the exact same message I had too. They couldn’t tell me if the car was even in the country back then when I asked so I’m not sure how they know it will arrive shortly on that basis. Hopefully things speed up now.
April 19, 2024 at 8:16 pm #275928Hi We were told they were expecting 2 ‘shortly’ so maybe the other is yours! Hope so

Yes, hopefully. I ordered mine a couple of days after you did so could well be. ?
April 22, 2024 at 3:39 pm #276137Hi everyone.. similar experience for me with my order placed just before Christmas with a delivery indicated early May .. lots of regular updates until last month when my dealer contact went quiet .. I contacted him a couple of times but wasn’t concerned until he called me back to say no idea what’s happening with my car & couldn’t tell me when I would get it .. disappointing & frustrating.. my previous privately owned Volvo was non compliant to Ulez so was unhappily scrapped 4 months ago . I have learnt more from this thread than from my dealer which is a massive concern especially as many of your experiences are as poor as mine … hopefully some of you will have had an update with positive news ?
April 22, 2024 at 8:03 pm #276180Ordered 5th January; my dealer finally emailed me back to tell me:
‘Just a update on your VOLVO XC40 order, the car will be built in May and takes around 3-4 weeks to arrive with us, i will keep you updayed on the progress.’
So looking like it will be sometime in June. We are swapping cars due to needing to change to a car that needs a hoist to lift a wheelchair, which our Arkana won’t. He told me when ordering it would be 2 months, so a little cheesed off it’s taken 3 months longer than that.
April 22, 2024 at 8:36 pm #276184@LBTN thanks for that. I ordered on Jan 7th and was told 22nd May anticipated delivery date at that time. Haven’t heard anything since so I’m probably same boat as you. However how long does it take to build a car?! I have a feeling if only actually being built in May, it could be more like July/August when received (even at earliest, as the Port Issues still exist!)
April 22, 2024 at 11:10 pm #276190Yes, me also. It truly is a sad state of affairs when our best (and most honest!) sources of information regarding our car orders has been from each other on internet forums as opposed from coming from our car dealers and Volvo! ?
How, on any level, should that be acceptable on countless car orders of £40,000 a piece?
April 23, 2024 at 9:08 am #276204I feel this is now proving to be a complete and utter shambles. Dealerships appear to be left completely in the dark at the mercy of Volvo Head Office. Even having the vehicle’s VIN number appears to be futile as no information is available or provided via such. I have been assured my order will eventually materialise…I’m still not confident but we will see…

So Snowfall, did your car arrive at the dealers as they said it would? ?
April 23, 2024 at 10:34 am #276214That’s brilliant news!
April 23, 2024 at 11:09 am #276218My dealer left a voicemail yesterday stating that my car should be coming at the end of May though he said he hadn’t heard from ‘Volvo ‘ so not sure how he has come to that conclusion! He also said that out of 60 cars expected in March only 30 have arrived – how many are Mb I cannot say ..
I don’t trust myself to speak to him directly yet as I feel really let down by his lack of honesty … if they would just all be honest it would be a start .. if as reported they all had an email from Volvo telling them what was happening why not just be transparent? It would appear we are all still in the dark about our cars ?
