Hi, not new to the forum but cannot recall username or password so have registered again! The forum is as always forever helpful.
Ive just signed up for a Volvo xc40 petrol automatic soft hybrid in Pearl white after a great test drive and excellent service from ‘Ben’ at Crawley showroom. Was a little tempted by the pale blue but it seemed a little too flat for me and I always love white! Felt very informed, valued and happy with our choice. May date given but I’m not banking on that but was assured to contact him anytime for updates. Seamless application accompanied by coffees.
Currently have a Peugeot 3008 and will be happy to wave it goodbye but my other half not as much so! ? - CreatorTopic

Ordered my Volvo mid December 2023. Spoke to the dealership at the weekend. Said they are in the country but have no names assigned to the vehicles so having to sort the mess out. Hopefully won’t be to long to wait now

Cheers for update Snowfall. Volvo UK truly are an absolute joke. Nobody seems to be able to tell us anything meaningful about our order do they? Dealers seem to know absolutely zilch apart from basic info, not that I’m blaming them as it seems to be all down to Volvo UK treating them and us like mushrooms.
Ordered my car first week of December and still no news apart from my dealer saying “He’s expecting it anytime now.” Well aren’t we all eh? ?? The bare basic the dealers should have is tracking now the cars are (allegedly!!) in the UK but by what you’ve been told that can’t even be the case as they seemingly have a large pool of cars that aren’t assigned by the sound of it. ?
April 9, 2024 at 10:33 am #272277From reading a lot of posts on here and on a Volvo XC40 owners website, it does make me question that which I’ve been advised. It seems a rather shambolic system to me. I may pop in to the Dealership today as I am thinking of adding a few extras to the vehicle prior to taking delivery, so could broach the subject at the same time. I suppose the only way to know for sure is to request the VIN number of the vehicle and try to track it myself from the information given on the XC40 owners website-I didn’t realise you could do this-the website is quite informative. I’ll post any news or updates on here. Fingers crossed our orders will arrive eventually!

Cool, let us know how you get on if you do go. ?
Will the dealer even have the VIN codes though bearing in mind what Snowfall has been told about cars not being allocated? I don’t know. I’m sure I remember reading a while ago that unlike cash purchase or PCP cars lease/Motability cars couldn’t be tracked by VIN in the Volvo app in this way? I may be remembering that wrongly though.
April 9, 2024 at 12:41 pm #272291I’ve been advised that my vehicle can be traced to my order, so I’ll definitely pose the question. Unfortunately, there appears to be conflicting information from different dealerships-which doesn’t make sense if what I have been told previously regarding vehicle allocation build slots on ordering, is correct.
April 12, 2024 at 4:22 pm #272624OK, so I spoke to my dealer today asking for an update. I was told my car was in a batch he was expecting at anytime now. Sounds good? No, not quite. I then asked in that case as it is “imminent” can he tell me whether my car is in this country yet and provide any tracking? The answer was – No, he doesn’t have those details and couldn’t even guarantee the car has even left Belgium yet. He then said that I was told it could be as long as 6 months so I might have a while yet to wait!
As I expected and have said a number of times, these dealers don’t have a real clue as to what is going on or where cars are even. Not exactly confidence inspiring, is it? What is the point? It seems that all manufacturers dealer locations now do is take a new car order and send it to HQ, after that they have no part in the process until said car actually arrives at the dealership.
I also asked if he knew about the shenanigans over at Zeebrugge port as reported in the FT this week where boatloads of Volvo EX30’s have arrived from China and have been just dumped in front of ordered cars waiting at the port to be sent out? Had no knowledge. Can’t sell these cars, just dumped there as Volvo over estimated how many people would buy them so they’re now just trapping customers orders and the whole place is a glorified holding area.
I’ve never experienced such little info provided after ordering a car on MB going back almost 20 years. Absolute farce! ?
April 12, 2024 at 5:14 pm #272631Went to my Dealership yesterday afternoon to discuss adding extras to my order and was advised my vehicle is now somewhere between Belgium and the Port. I am a little cautious to order and pay in full for items when the intended vehicle itself hasn’t been delivered or even been confirmed as arriving in the Country yet, but was advised by the Motability Salesman that the vehicle should still be on track to be delivered by the end of April-so long as there were no hold ups from Volvo-this was not elaborated on, but I was assured all should be fine. I agree with several others on here who have ordered Volvos, that the entire process from ordering seems rather obscure in that once an order is taken, it’s anyone’s guess where said vehicle actually is within the process. I too, have been a Motability Customer for many years (36 to be exact) and have never known a Dealership not to be able to advise the whereabouts of an order. However, I would’ve expected the Dealership, being my point of sales contact to be able to provide more information and clarity regarding my order. Despite my concerns, I am hoping my Dealership will come good on what they have advised and my vehicle will be with them end of April and subsequently, ready for me to collect with the added extras and my personalised registration plate in situ, as soon as possible after. Fingers crossed for all of us who are awaiting news.
April 15, 2024 at 5:05 pm #272925Hi again all, just catching up on posts since I posted a few weeks ago, it does seem we are all being told the same information as limited as it is, problems at Zeebrugge, problems at Immingham & Bristol (too many cars not enough transporters)
Whether or not our cars are in our country or still stuck in Zeebrugge,</p>
No names allocated alongside order numbers7000 XC40’s ordered nationwide from Dec-Feb
I personally still have no official confirmation of date of delivery
A few have been allocated (9) and delivered in March as it stands from my local dealer.
Hopefully we aren’t far off.Keep us updated ?? ?

April 15, 2024 at 5:34 pm #272930Yes, let’s hope we’re being told valid reasons and not merely excuses. Time will tell, as they say. I will post any updates I receive, on this thread.

Was that 9 in total to your dealer or 9 Motability orders delivered?
April 16, 2024 at 9:41 am #272956he said he’s delivered or had collected 19 for (“normal buyers”) and 9 Motability have come through in March (I was told this 2 weeks ago)
They had been sat at Port (Bristol) for 2 1/2 weeks prior to that.
April 16, 2024 at 9:43 am #272957Has anyone actually seen a 24 plate XC40 on the road?
We all live nationwide on this thread, I haven’t seen one. I live in a little Village nr Blackburn but travel to Broughton in Preston and have not seen any.
My dealer is in Preston.April 16, 2024 at 9:49 am #272958I’ve called my dealership again this morning I’m waiting for a callback, I will update the thread
Im getting a little fed up to be honest.I am new to Motability and had in the past heard of people waiting 12 months for a car (friend of mine)
But on reading this thread it’s certainly not “the Norm”
April 16, 2024 at 9:50 am #272959I have read on the Volvo XC40 owners (private sales) website that some on there who placed orders after myself, have already taken delivery of their vehicles which does not make any sense to me, if, what I have been advised by my dealership is correct (that all orders are treated in the same way, in date order and are given build slots, built and delivered, accordingly.) My dealership has advised they can now see and thus, track my order-so I would assume it should be a simple task to confirm where said vehicle actually is. I cannot fathom why it would be the case, that there are many vehicles that cannot be assigned to their corresponding orders. I am concerned there may be other reasons for the delays to our vehicles.
April 16, 2024 at 10:02 am #272960Yes I have seen quite a lot , drive the M4 daily but also 3 or 4 in my hometown .
When we see one, if I have my daughter in the car with me, ( who is the PIP claimant so whose car it is ) then points at the XC40 and says ” new XC40, ours is coming soon”, to which I reply ” so is Christmas”.
April 16, 2024 at 10:04 am #272961Of course, dealers get paid on private sales, not on Motability, so of course they will prioritise those , particularly coming up to the end of a quarter and also likely their financial year. Motability sales don’t generate any profit for the dealers.
April 16, 2024 at 10:10 am #272962Ok thanks for that. Ordered my car first week they were available on MB but from what I’m gathering with Volvo MB orders it doesn’t seem to matter when you ordered as they were all ordered together in a batch. I’m starting to get the impression that someone who ordered in February could get their car before someone who ordered in December .. which seems deeply unfair and so frustrating! ?
I’ve not seen hardly any 24 plate cars on the road full stop so far, certainly not an XC40. Seems so many conflicting comments from different dealers though on tracking etc, mine has said he has squat ability to track and he’s been pretty straight so far so I have no reason to disbelieve him.
I’ve been away from MB for a few years because of unsuitable cars and the long delays and only came back because I believed the delays were largely over and I can sit in Volvo seats in reasonable comfort. I’m beginning to think I should stay with my private car because the stress of all this and not knowing where you are defeats the whole purpose of getting an MB car. Hey ho. ☹️

LOL – Love it! ??
April 16, 2024 at 10:12 am #272965When I recently broached the subject, I was categorically told and assured that all Sales are treated the same-so I would be very disappointed to learn if that is not actually the case. I don’t mind waiting for my vehicle-so long as the updates and reasons for any delay are portrayed accurately and transparently.
April 16, 2024 at 2:52 pm #274975All Volvo cars removed from the scheme today too. Maybe temporary, maybe not. ?
April 16, 2024 at 4:26 pm #274983I was advised that apparently, the XC40 petrol option is returning to Motability in the near future-but that it would probably be going on at a vastly increased AP (to put people off ordering one) and that electric options would have reduced AP in comparison. I feel the Scheme has changed dramatically over the past few years. Also, I’ve just received correspondence from Motability, advising the insurance for my current vehicle has been extended to August 2024-I hope that’s not an omen as to when my XC40 is due to arrive! Who knows?! ?
April 16, 2024 at 5:39 pm #274993Ok guys so I’ve just got off the phone with my dealer (Preston)
He read out a statement to me from Volvo head office regarding MB
As of Tomorrow (Wednesday 17th April) close of business ALL Volvo models are being removed from MB so they can catch up with all orders
As of Friday 19th April all MB customers will be notified of their order whereabouts and delivery date.
Volvo dealers WILL have this information guaranteedSo one way or another where are cars are we will know Friday.
He has assured me I will have my car by early May latest.
And Volvo has admitted it’s made a huge mess.
April 16, 2024 at 5:42 pm #274994Thank you for posting the update. About time we all had clarity-which has been lacking for months!

I just hope that all dealers get the message as it were. ?
April 16, 2024 at 7:46 pm #275018Volvo have never been terribly committed to Motability. As I recall, this is exactly what happened the last time that they were on the scheme.
