August 13, 2022 at 2:04 pm #194046If it’s with your a/c on its brilliant – how strong was the tail wind ??.
Hope you get some answers to your heater issue ?August 13, 2022 at 2:46 pm #194051Will be looking forward to using the HDA, Highway Drive Assist, tomorrow on the M3/M25. It seems to be a slightly more sophisticated version of Smart Cruise Control. There is another feature on the car which tells you if you exceed the speed limit, audibly and loudly, as well as a visual warning. Not planning to try it out!
August 13, 2022 at 2:54 pm #194056Enjoy your trip fwippers – the HDA works really well – I tested on m3 too – going south – my daughter lives in an area with a number of 20mph speed limits and multiple money making cameras – the smart cruise and audio warnings are extremely useful – keeping to 20 whilst being alert to everything else – including cyclists over and under taking – yes it has happened – I need all the help I can get.

ChrisI will book it soon probably Monday next week if possible

Ian WebsellHi @fwippers
Can I ask, where do I find the warning for exceeding the speed limits?
I probably have had the car the longest but I don’t drive it most of the time, so a little slow in finding all of the features. So any more help would be appreciated. Maybe I should get the manual out again. ??August 14, 2022 at 8:31 am #194124Hi @fwippers Can I ask, where do I find the warning for exceeding the speed limits? Hi Ian, I think it must have been set up automatically on mine. If I can figure it out later today I’ll post. All I can say is its a loud “ding”!

AdyI always thought that the Kona platform was designed with the different variants in mind including the electric version so although it isn’t a ground up EV there are less compromises than you would get in a platform that was adapted for an EV drivetrain.
I’m starting to think I have missed the boat with the savings you could get from having an EV, by the time mine arrives, if the cost of electricity increases as predicted, I won’t be able to afford to go anywhere in it even when home charging.
August 14, 2022 at 9:06 am #194128Hi Ian – I saw you had posted last night – but couldn’t see actual text until this morning.
The speed limiter is the same button as for the smart cruise control, just press it twice or hold it in longer. The display in front of you changes from cruise to speed limit then set the speed you want – if you exceed it it should Bing at you as long as you are gentle with the acceleration. If you press hard you will easily over ride it in emergency situations where acceleration is more important than braking – you will still creep slightly over before it bongs at you – sometimes I find setting smart cruise to eg 20 mph works better – it is not meant for low speed so prob isn’t recommended, but I like to use it – it is so easy to exceed a 20 mph speed limit – also useful on A and motorways when a 50 mph limit is set for road works – I hope this helps ?
August 14, 2022 at 9:37 am #194130Hi Andy – I think Ian has the best set up I am aware of ie solar panels – we were always concerned about solar panels damaging the roof – so although we looked about 4 years ago decided against it – I think a lot depends on your mileage and circumstances – I usually do around 10,000 a year and can charge from home – so it works out cheaper – but my last car (swopped 3 weeks ago) was a Prius phev that did just over 30 miles on battery before switching to petrol engine – the electric ride was so much better quieter and easier than when it was on petrol – so sold EV to me. I still expect to be quids in compared to petrol and I still believe it to be one of the best cars on Motability, if size isn’t an issue. £999 when I ordered the ultimate – lovely safe comfortable car – no I’m not on commission ????

August 14, 2022 at 2:02 pm #194158Average speed 44mph, with some 50mph restrictions and the usual delays on M25. Air con on all journey and ventilated seat, plus streaming music. On a cold winter day, probably sufficient for a return journey without charging. Max speed according to bluelink was 68mph.
August 14, 2022 at 2:24 pm #194159<p style=”text-align: left;”>Only 14 ml any top of about 60. But got 5.36 I think.</p>
Tried out speed limiter and it works. Was difficult to go above it and once you did by 2mph it bleeped.

After 2 long motorway trips, 34c heat etc, a very impressive return, average 5.1 on both the long journeys. Will post in a bit more detail tomorrow. Time to hit the sack.

Ian WebsellHello All
great figures @fwippers. We have a 230 miles journey soon and hope we get something similar. All good local and to Warwick, we shall see on a longer journey.
@tillyman, yes my solar panels really help. It’s not completely free, but £4.95-£5-20 for a nine hour charge in the day time. Which returns 387 miles on a full charge. At night we pay £6.90 -£7-20 for around the same charge. That’s with OVO Energy. I am fixed till October though, so that will go up somewhat then. But still a massive saving on petrol/diesel. Hope this helps Andy.
Have any of you subscribed to Charge My Hyundai? They appear to have cheaper charge tariff’s when travelling away from home. We shall see ??2380 miles on Our Evie the EV ?? in 14 weeks. I have to say, we are so impressed. My wife loves it. Although I get to drive it occasionally.
I trust you all had a good weekend?
Stay safe ??August 15, 2022 at 9:03 am #194219We’re locked into a 12 month fixed contract with Octopus, 7.5p for 4 hours daily. Put the car on yesterday at 11pm, in 2.5 hours has gone from 16% to 42%. Will have a 4 hour charge tonight to bring up to 80%. Yesterday I set back home with 165 miles left and a 112 mile journey, and when I arrived home had 51 miles left. Very accurate and reliable. No range anxiety. I think I would always want 30 miles extra range on a journey of 100 miles, but on shorter ones, maybe 20, just in case there are diversions etc. The plan is to keep the car at between 80-90%, only charging to 100% for long journeys. HDA worked well 99% of the time. Just once it came up with a malfunction warning, then restarted with the car accelerating to the 70mph limit. No cars in front so all perfectly safe.
August 15, 2022 at 10:01 am #194225The biggest compliment I can give the Kona is over the years I have had a number of Volvos 2 on scheme and 3 before I was on it – what I liked about Volvos was they just did it right and as I lived with the car I would discover other sensible driver focused helpful practical touches – I have exactly the same feeling with the Kona – it just works and as I live with it and try out or discover new aspects to the car it just makes me smile – the first Volvo I had was a box shaped 240 saloon – auto 3 gears and an over drive all leather black interior with front bench seats – so internal materials and trim the Kona cannot match but for everyday – it just works – brilliant.
I trust those of you who now have your Kona feel the same and for those of you that are still waiting – rest assured it is worth the wait ???August 15, 2022 at 10:52 am #194230Agreed 100%.
August 15, 2022 at 12:38 pm #194236Hi all.
Has anyone managed to get Bluelink working properly – I have just been using the OHME app as that is the charger I have – I did set up Bluelink and when my car is on charge I can view from either app – but although I have set units to miles – in status it still continues to show km.I am quite happy using the OHME app at the moment as I haven’t been on my longer journey – which is 250 and could be near edge of range in cold wet weather.
Also the OHME app is simple and that is all I need – however there will be occasions where I will use Bluelink so as to finish charge and condition at a specific time for when I make the long journey.
In a similar vein – has anyone checked their car to establish when the last update was – I have a 128bg usb to download the latest update and then plug into car – this apparently will tell me if it is newer or not.
My Apple Mac doesn’t want to download the Hyundai update because it hasn’t been approved ie virus safe – has anyone managed to do this – it isn’t urgent for me so I have let it drift but sometime this year I will won’t to check and update.August 15, 2022 at 12:44 pm #194237If it’s set at miles it will show miles when your signed in, but you need to refresh when you go in again and sign in. I use biometric sign it and it then changes to miles again .
It’s a flaw in the system alas for UK users etc
I just set the ohme one to full charge always and then use the blue link to set what I want. Usually 90% charge.
This then give me if I wish to block the charging by going into ohme one and pressing pause, so no one can use it if I’m away.

Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistAugust 15, 2022 at 1:01 pm #194238I tried to use a Charger at Tesco yesterday, a Pod Point, could get it to work, need to do a bit of research. Anyway, I calculated that I had more than enough range.
In answer to charging at home, we have Ohme and Bluelink. I appear to have disabled something on the Bluelink app, so the car charges as programmed, 21.30-01.30. The think with OHME is you cannot programme it to charge at these times, you have to say what time you want the car to be ready etc.. which is all a bit complicated. As things stand it works for me.
As to the software update, I have no idea!
August 15, 2022 at 1:03 pm #194239Thanks Struth – good info – I have only used OHME to charge and Bluelink to monitor – so thanks – yep – I can see that makes perfect sense – it is on charge at the moment and this will be the first time I will leave it until it maxis out – I have read various information regarding conditioning battery – but they don’t all agree – so I am still undecided as to the best course of action – I swop it out again in 3 years so it is not the same issue as if you owned it ?
