WoodlandsPicked the car up this morning, had to wait an hour as the ignorant clown who should have been there at 9am, turned up an hour late!
The car (Ultimate in Dark Knight) is as I remember it from our test drive – Good spec and well finished. MUCH smaller and less refined than our Kuga, but hey ho, you cant have everything. As weve had bright sunshine all day, the flecks of different colours in the grey paint is very nice.
All the techy stuff is mindblowing at the hand over, but spending the afternoon playing, driving, charging and basically playing, its just fun in the end.
Off early tomorrow on the usual 250 mile trip down south, so its the first big test for the car and more importantly, us.
Good luck tomorrow fwippers……

We left some in a Golf, many years ago, luckily the BMW dealer still had the key and retrieved them!

July 28, 2022 at 12:56 pm #192037Have picked up car, Good condition bonus processed. Achieved 5.3 miles per KwH, 20 mile journey back from dealers. Need to spend an hour or so setting up the various bits and pieces, especially electronics, although have connected phone and activated blue link. Cabin trim quality a bit better than I remember. So far so good. Hasta ahora todo bien! I´ll post a more detailed first impressions in a couple of days.

JoelI ordered a Kona electric ultimate on October 13 2021. I was told it would be here in March or April of 2022, so I sold my car in February. Still waiting. Latest update from Hyundai garage is hopefully November but we can’t be certain!!!
July 28, 2022 at 1:35 pm #192045I’m delighted that a long and often frustrating wait has come to an exciting conclusion fwippers …. Enjoy! ?

Wonderful! At long last you have your Kona. Have fun getting to know it and all its tech. Happy driving.

Great to hear you have your Kona. I am sure all that tech stuff will become a doddle in the next few months. Have a wonderful 1st trip out.
July 28, 2022 at 2:03 pm #192052<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi Joel – it sounds like you have been extremely unfortunate. – I ordered mine end of October – ultimate – misty jungle – light grey interior and picked it up Tuesday just gone.</p>
I think I would be tempted to ask why you have had to wait so long – giving examples of different spec and colours of cars that have been received on this forum and ordered after you.
Have you ordered anything unusually extra – like heat pump.
I wish you well in trying to get some answers – it must be extremely frustrating!!July 28, 2022 at 3:26 pm #192062I’m delighted that a long and often frustrating wait has come to an exciting conclusion fwippers …. Enjoy!
Thanks POPS, and thanks to everyone for their kind comments. Just off out for a drive in the country, have 3 things I want to try and “master”.
July 28, 2022 at 3:58 pm #192063Have fun fwippers – I am on my 3rd day with the car and I’m still in big kid mode – ooohhhh – so many toys ????
July 28, 2022 at 5:19 pm #192068I´m finding the car easy to live with, but the tech side is so complex nowadays. Want to wait until it´s dark and try out the lights etc. On the 40 miles we have done, average 5.3 miles per Kwh, that eqates to 339 miles, which if accurate, is pleasing. And today a 10 short trip into the forest has cost around 15p in electricity, compared with around £3 in petrol. The added bonus of an electric car combined with Octopus Go Faster, should be cheaper energy bills. And I think the interior is of a better quality than I remember with soft touch around the doors and in other places too. Still getting use to voice control, have set up charging between 9.40pm and 1.30 am, but will let the battery drain a bit more. Need to find how you programme to charge to 80%, nightime reading. Me siento como un niño con un jugete nuevo, just like you.
July 28, 2022 at 5:32 pm #192069There is a slider control in the blue link that you can set in multiples of 10%. Simple as that

I have just charged my car to 100% – interesting how much the predicted range changes with different comfort modes ie a/c on off just driver various rates of fan etc.I checked all this then went to unplug – it was locked – had to refer to manual to discover button that I must have changed from auto to lock – took about 10 mins to realise my error – but much better when it dosnt really matter.
Yes I agree the tech can seem a little daunting – but I think it seems very well thought out – lots of ways on the ultimate to control temperature without a major hit on battery ie sun roof to release heat + ventilated cooling seats, tho it seems to require some fan input – heated seats and steering wheel.
One thing I have concluded tho is it would be very easy to get into a max miles at any cost – it has provided many creature comforts to make long journeys easier – to my way of thinking it wouldn’t work for me to max miles at the cost of comfort.
So understanding the best balance of speed temperature and comfort is key.
I will be happier when I have charged the car away from home – planning route, ensuring I have alternative charging options due to, not working or unavailable – but most importantly stress free – I don’t won’t to be worrying about charging or maximising miles at the expense of comfort.
The Kona ultimate is well equipped and capable of a good mileage at a sensible price – I intend to enjoy the comfort and pleasure of driving as well as getting a balanced acceptable range – but yea I’m loving it ???
July 28, 2022 at 6:43 pm #192073Rang our local dealer today to see if they had a Kona EV or auto for test drive, unfortunately not but he did tell me orders being taken now are being forecast for May ’23 delivery to dealer.

WoodlandsThe 250 mile drive down south today was a breeze. The car drove beautifully. Did a fast charge at Warwick which was a doddle (after a charger became free). Previously, the journey here was costing £75 each way in petrol. Todays journey has cost £28 to get to 84%.
The Hyundai sat nav worked really well, pointing out motorway speed cameras. We always use Waze, but until it lets us down, Ill be using the cars sat nav now. One weird thing was that during the ridiculous enforced 60 mph motorway speed limit that goes on for mile after mile, the sat nav kept showing the speed limit as 80 mph. If only!
How are you finding out your miles per kWh?
July 28, 2022 at 7:53 pm #192088Glad you had a good trip Woodlands and the car and charging was easy.
Thanks for the update – happy miles ????July 28, 2022 at 9:32 pm #192096Tomorrow I am going to visit a Tesco score, primarily to use a free charger, whilst picking up some shopping too, perhaps some ice cream.
July 28, 2022 at 10:10 pm #192101Yes fwippers intend to do a similar thing next time we do weekly shop – I assume Tesco charging is free at all their stores – so that will be the first external test then I want to try one of the contactless chargers – Wisley is quite close by for me or maybe a National Trust place – just to get the experience before a longer trip – tho Woodlands seems to be the one to ask for any advise needed ??
