      Hi,

What a great forum, so informative!

I am due to change my car in a few months and have started looking and test driving.
I need a Petrol Automatic SUV, preferably AWD or similar due to our location and winter weather hazards, pref lower than 2 litre but not vital.
Our preferences so far are Tiguan, Volvo cx40, BMW 1x although the BMW feels a bit lower when driving than I prefer.
None of them complete all my tick boxes or price budget if I have to keep adding extras to achieve what I want or need! An example is extending front seats, usually in sports model but the sporty ride isn’t great for me as too lumpy for my back.
I seem to go round and round in circles comparing and listing!
Any help please would be most appreciated from you knowledgable folk! Currently have a Kuga and it’s great.

Have you considered the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – even if it’s over your ideal budget, if you can finance it you may well save more than enough in fuel to justify the extra initial outlay.  Not sure what specifically you need or don’t, but there’s plenty of space and a good level of kit in them, although nowhere near the levels of some other cars admittedly.

Of course if you won’t make good use of the 20-25 mile pure electric range, or can’t charge it at home, it loses a lot of it’s plus points

Thank you. We did look at it but felt it was a bit big and my partner wasnt keen on the front. Will have another look at the details, thank you

              Hi there and welcome.
A few to consider that are petrol/auto/4×4.
              Suzuki Vitara Allgrip

              Jeep Renegade

              Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

              Kia Sportage

Also, to help with narrowing down searches for you, on the Motability home page and in the Car Search section, under the large blue ‘Search For A Car’ button, is an Advanced Search. See pic.  If you click this you are able to tailor your search.

Good luck. I hope your search goes well

? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

                Thank you.

It seems a close call now between the Volvo and Tiguan.

Volvo colours arent very exciting but we liked the drive, the extras are mounting up though for what we need. Tiguan was high seated like I prefer and was a nice drive.
We have used the advanced search which gave us the ideas of what to test drive but I was hoping people here could give their opinions and suggestions of pros and cons if possible please. BMW was lovely but a little low for my preference.

Your best bet is either Seat Ateca or Tarraco, they come fully loaded with no extras

Hi Remember once you have boiled it down to 1 manafacturer

Google and look for (example) Mini  countryman mobility offers

This particular example can save you £500 off of the AP

                    so always worth checking first.

Thankyou for all the suggestions. Been to see Seat and Mazda today. Test drive the Seat Ateca, very nice if I can get away from it not being quite as nice quality feel as the Tiguan but impressed anyway … and no extra price for paint …and will test drive the Mazda CX 5 next week. Loved the look of the bigger Seat but think a little big for our needs though very tempting!
Wish we could hold out for Q2 to see what there will be then but due to change car in April. Love my Kuga, maybe I would love the new one more! I hear it’s more fiesta shaped though and I do like the more square topped vehicles so maybe I wouldn’t.. I felt squashed with the curves of the Nissan.

I narrowed mine down to the same 2 as you, I test drove the Volvo XC40 loved the height and style but after test driving the Rline Tech I was won over straight away so that’s what I ordered. Current car none motability Mercedes b class auto will also be missed but just not high enough for me and not enough tech as it’s a 2016 model.
Hope this helps somehow…. good luck ?
