Seat Tarraco FR / Skoda Kodiaq

We ordered a Skoda Kodiaq in February and still have no build date. At the time the Tarraco FR wasn’t on the scheme (I think!) and I wanted this model for the memory seats and powered tailgate.

I noticed the FR is now on the scheme so I’m contemplating cancelling the Kodiaq and ordering one of these if we like it. I guess I only have until the end of December to get the £750 back too.

I’ve found some old threads about the Tarraco but nothing recent. What is the wait time for these does anyone know?

I would also probably order the 2.0 diesel as I’ve always had concerns the 1.5 petrol wouldn’t be enough in the Kodiaq. The test drive was ok but only 30 minutes long and it was a little slow but that’s not surprising given the size of the car.

@kezo The cockpit does look good from that video, I love stuff like that, it’s the Mrs who won’t be so sure but I’m it’ll grow on her!

Leave it on the one that mimics traditional analogue, slowly change it over time untill it becomes unrecogniseable ?

Collecting the car on Saturday, looking forward to it. It was delayed at the port over here.

Hopefully it doesn’t snow as FWD on 19s isn’t going to be fun! The X1 is AWD so I’m going to miss having that for when the roads are slippery/muddy.

What tyres do Skoda usually fit as standard?

          Great idea! ?

Normally fitted with Pirelli Scorpios with seal inside.  If you go on Briskoda you’ll find tons of info on the Kodiaq on there. It’s a great place for all things Skoda.

Picked the car up and drove the 70 miles home, mostly all motorway. The engine will definitely take some getting used to compared to the diesel we had. It doesn’t accelerate as quickly as what I’m used to, but will give it 500 miles to break the engine in before trying sport mode.

I love the virtual cockpit but need to have a play around with it and the other settings. Looks like connecting to our Android phones isn’t working as expected so will look at that too. It connects to the phone but doesn’t mirror on the screen. The sat nav is a step down from BMWs idrive but I’m sure it’ll do the job.

The cruise control being on the stalk is a pain, I’m used to it being on the steering wheel.

It also seems Skoda make the 12v socket permanently live, which is annoying as it means remembering to unplug the dash cam all the time.

Thanks will have a look on there, I’m sure I’ll get the answers to any questions I have.

The tyres that were fitted are the Hankook Ventus S1 evo2 SUV. Reviews seem good so hopefully we won’t have an issue with them but they’re not Michelin or Bridgestone! I’m pretty fussy about tyres but accept I don’t have much say in what’s fitted with a mobility car. Do kwikfit offer a choice for Skoda cars? On the BMW we had to use what came with the car but being Bridgestone I was fine with that.

Hi Rich, just to check is it the 1.5 petrol Kodiaq you’ve got?

I’m still waiting for mine (dreadful service from the Skoda dealer) I also have a BMW  a 220D x-drive so not looking forward to the costs and power loss of the Kodiaq.

Can you keep us updated on your experience with the Kodiaq please.

                Thanks.

Yes it’s the 1.5 petrol. I don’t think there are many of the 2.0L left but I could see that being a thirsty car!

I think the mpg/fuel cost will balance out as petrol is cheaper than diesel. I also think the Kodiaq will be better than the BMW around town as it’ll warm up quicker. Maybe not as good on a long run but I’ll have to give it time to see what mpg we do get.

You have to drive the Skoda differently to the BMW, it likes being revved! I’m hoping sport mode once I start using it will be fine for pulling away at junctions etc but in normal mode it’s fine on a long run.

The infotainment is a bit of a pain to use over idrive, I will miss that but I’m sure in time I’ll get used to it.

What Skoda dealer did you use? Ours was excellent but the one we originally ordered from was lacking a bit with their communication.

When I had my 2018 1.4TSi  6-speed DSG Kodiaq, I was getting on average 28-30mpg local driving, and 45mpg on long runs. I’m never surprised when people seem disappointed when they see the mpg rate, it’s a 1.7 ton breeze block on wheels.  It’s the exact opposite of people who buy a sports car then complain about the boot being too small!    If you are looking at getting either the Kodiaq or Tarraco(which isn’t on the scheme at this moment), then you will be looking for a vehicle with a huge loading capacity, and ease of access.  Sadly, a breeze block on wheels won’t give you plenty of miles to the gallon, but it’ll give you a huge boot. Unfortunately we can’t have both.
