It’s going to be difficult to get any resolution now Bryn as you have accepted the car as it is. It’s always sensible to check that a car has all the key features that you expected before you enter your PIN at handover. Worth flagging to Motability though, just in case you’ve been palmed off with a lower spec model. What’s missing?
February 15, 2023 at 9:42 am #209315Dealerships should be made to send a memo out if there is any change in spec or at the very least inform the customer on collect prior to entering the pin, rather than hoping it wont be notice untill after collection.
As @Glos Guy there’s very little you can do now other than inform Motabilty.
Whats missing?
February 15, 2023 at 11:51 am #209336With the complicated cars we have these days its hard to check beyond bodywork, interior trim and the cars general functions on collection day.
Might be OK if your abled bodied but going to the dealership to look at cars and worst to collect a car is a real chore for me and I’m sure many others too.
Having a car delivered that’s not as specified should be made illegal and is indeed is for everyday electricals and food stuff but when it comes to cars there able to hide behind the “specifications may change” or “UK specifications may be different” that we see in every TV advert.
This has become even more of a problem now, and some existing before 2020 when manufactures have got very vague with brochures if indeed they even do a brochure and their web sites displaying their wonderful models only highlighting the top of the range model and all the wonderful stuff it can do so if you select to buy a lesser model you have to just pray it comes with what your hoping it comes with. Same goes for car configuration menu that mislead about if an item is an option or standard fit. How many time I’ve seen a photo of a car saying “standard car with optional satnav” or whatever. If its the standard car then show a photo as is, not as might be.
I don’t think this is a disabled thing either as I often see folk who have taken delivery of their new cars only to come on a forum weeks later complaining that this or that is missing then to be told that particular item was excluded the previous year.
Yes we have some of the best consumer laws in the World, except when when it comes to car.
Rant over. ?
February 15, 2023 at 1:05 pm #209346also its not as if the dealer is going to let the customer pay a less amount deposit for stuff being missing
February 15, 2023 at 1:07 pm #209347Options missing

OP – Just to clarify something, you have entitled this thread ‘Options Missing’.
From that, can we deduce it is your ‘paid for’ options (i.e. Optional Extras) that are deficient, as opposed to items of standard trim/equipment that should have been included with the car – i.e. the vehicle’s standard specification for the trim level ordered – not optional?
If it is indeed paid optional extras that are deficient, have you got your original invoice showing your selected optional extras? Also did you pay for these optional extras at the time of ordering or were you charged for them when collecting the vehicle?
Was the lack of your paid optional extras pointed out or notified to you at any point?
If as the title post indicates, we are talking about ‘paid for’ optional extras, I can, to a point see why Motability maybe reluctant to get involved. However, if you paid in advance (or on the day) for deficient optional extras, then you may have a case to make a claim in the small claims court against the dealer to recover any monies paid for the optional extras which were not supplied with the vehicle.
Perhaps you could clarify exactly if these are your optional extras (being optional for the purchaser) or just deficient in standard equipment that should have been fitted as part of the basic vehicle?

RogerWilkoYes the issue is chip and wiring shortages, but, manufacturers also make model year changes, and this can catch people out as lead times are quite long, if you ordered a, say SEL, if the car is supplied as an SEL, you have what you ordered unfortunately. Back to buyer beware, and before going to collect, check the latest specification in manufacturers website against the spec when you ordered. If any changes, mtgen yiu can decide if you want the car or not.
if there are options you have paid for are not there, mtgats a different scenario.

BrydoWhat you agreed should be on the initial paperwork.
Take the car and leave it at the garage and tell them it’s not what you ordered.
It happened with us once and the dealer said motability are happy to accept the car they gave me even though it wasn’t the car we ordered. I told them I would leave the car with them as it was no use to me. Five minutes later the manager came out and said they had re-ordered my car and to use the one the gave us until the new one arrived. It was only six weeks delivery at that time so not sure I would do the same if I had to wait nine months.

RogerWilkoJust had a look at the contract I signed (you can see a copy in your Motability online account)
it does not specify actual spec, just, in my case, Skoda Superb 1.5tsi SEL.
if the car is the right model, then the op hasn’t got any leeway, they ordered an, for example, an SEL and that’s what was delivered. The actual specification isn’t written on the contract.
