Hey all!

First time poster, was hoping I could get some advice on something.  I ordered my new Motability vehicle a couple of months ago, went with a Renault Megane E-tech Iconic in Ceramic Grey with the black roof styling.  The dealer (Stoneacre) told me I would have to pay £250 in order to get the black roof and I figured okay, it’s not that expensive.

However, my younger brother is also a Motability customer and he’s in the process of looking at new cars before he can order at the end of December.  He went to a different Renault dealer (Evans Halshaw) and they say they don’t charge anything at all for paint, no matter what body/roof combination you go for.

So my question is, d’you think this is worth mentioning to the Stoneacre guy?  I’m a bit miffed that I’m gonna have to pay £250 whereas if I’d gone ten minutes down the road and ordered from Evans Halshaw I could have got it for free 🙁

Hi, there will be slight differences to what dealers offer colour wise – some include any colour combination others will only include metallic colours.

You could mention it to your dealer and suggest you will cancel and reorder at EH, if they don’t match this offer.

If you cancel and reorder elsewhere you will be 2 months further down the order queue, which isn’t the end of the world but save £250. If your dealer isn’t prepared to match it, your down £250. Sings and roundabouts really 🙂

As @kezo said you can call your dealers bluff but just be ready that if they are not willing you will have to decide what’s worth more. If the dealer is close to you I would pop in and make sure the deal is exactly what you have. They may even have a stock car that they could turn around quicker.

tbh first Ive heard of a renault dealer wanting extra for combo paint on the Etec

When i ordered my megane etech iconic my dealer told me all colours was free on the iconic model ordered the ceramic grey originally but they called and offered me the black with grey roof with a delivery in a week so swapped out in the end but didnt charge me when i did order the the ceramic grey
