So I picked up my Nissan Ariya 87k Evolve today in Aurora Green and first impressions are excellent. The car has everything you could possibly think of or at least I can think of.

It is lovely to drive and really comfortable. Taking it for a proper ride on Saturday so I will report back on how that goes.

The beauty of an extension cable (whils’t no the be all and end all), is it won’t invalidate the chargers warranty and will get you out of a fix relatively cheaply however, I would stick with a maximum 5m extension.

Would this be suitable please? Also thanks for your help. RamTouch EV Charger Extension Cable (32 Amp, 7.4 kW, 5 m, 1 Phase), Type 2 Extension Cable Compatible with all Type 2 EV Chargers & Type 2 Wallbox, EV Extension Cord Suitable for Type 2 EVs/PHEVs : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive

There is no mention of ip rating, I can see which I would be dubious of, especially as an extension cable., unless you can come up with a solution of covering the connection when it rains, such as a weatherproof box?

The IP rating is 55 (on the 2nd picture -labelled Product Description) and I believe that is the same as my Ohme charger.

I made a mistake when I got the Ohme Pro Charger installed. I thought that 5m of cable would be plenty but it is not. I have had to park the car quite close to the front door, much to the wife’s annoyance as that was the only way the charging cable would reach. I messaged Ohme about it and they said I would be looking at over £300 to getthe cable changed to 8m so I was wondering if there was anyone who has had need of an extension cable for their Ohme charger so I can park the car on the drive in it’s normal spot? Fortunately I will not have to charge it too often in the meantime.

EV cable shop unfortunately £99. You can get a local electrician to change your tethered cable, I had mine change from a type 1 to type 2, took him less then half hour.

Ohme have told me that trying to change the cable would invalidate the warranty.

Sorry. I didn’t realise that my first post that was supposed to reply to @oscarmax ended up replying to you.

My reply to you should have said that the IP rating is 55 which is the same as the Ohme charger.

Thats fine, must of missed it sorry!

The RamTouch extension cable comes in 7 & 22kWh. If your use will soley be for extension purposes, get the cheaper 7kWh.

It will do no harm to wrap where the extension joins to the Ohme in Self-amalgamating tape on the connecting bit. This will make it fully waterproof 🙂

The extension cable has arrived so now I just need to summon up the energy to go out and connect it and cover it with the self amalgamating waterproof tape.

Got the cable extended, covered it with the waterproof tape and some insulation tape and it charged the car for me last night with no issues.

I had a little bit of a battery scare last night. Charged the car to 100% ready for a trip to Liverpool – no issues there. Arrived with about 39% battery left so on the way home, we stopped at Ionity Park in Stafford and we worked out we’d need around 70% battery to get home and once charged the range said we woule be okay but it would be close.

Dropped my son off in Cardiff and drove slower than normal on the M4 just to eke out the range. The battery level dropped to 10% and I had a warning message. Then it got down to 5% and the range disappeared so I had no idea how far I had left before she stopped.

Luckily I got home with 4% battery left. Needless to say, we should have added more charge just to be on the safer side of safe and this will not happen again.

I was bricking it during the final mile home though.
