I’m seriously considering the Tucson. I’ve seen and read a fair few reviews and it looks like it ticks a lot of box’s for my needs, so if anyone has a new plug in hybrid Tucson or drove one your views would be appreciated.

@Fastbike1000 – I had a two hour drive in the Premium Hybrid and then the following day I had an hour and a half drive in the Ultimate Plug-in Hybrid.
They were both good cars to drive and both have excellent safety features and are roomy. The Hybrid version is for someone who is unable to plug in at home or cannot be bothered to plug it in to charge. They were both economical.
I preferred the Ultimate Plug-in as I found the leather seats more comfortable than the cloth seats. It comes with a type two and also a granny charger so you can use your 3 pin sockets at home.
I have ordered the Ultimate Tucson Plug-in with the Tech Pack today, the dealership had one that is being built at the moment so should get to me either end of December or first week in January. The dealership said there are very few Tucsons available at the moment.
Let me know if you have any questions Fastbike1000.
November 4, 2021 at 3:54 pm #168345Thanks for that. How did you find the auto box?
November 4, 2021 at 5:12 pm #168355@Fastbike1000 – I found the auto box excellent. Acceleration was great from traffic lights and junctions. My various cars for the past 30 years have all been automatics and I can honestly say this is one of the best gearboxes. I drove it on A and B roads as well as the country lanes near where I live, it coped well over bumps and a few pot holes. I liked the different modes there are to conserve your fuel and just use the battery.

Thanks again.
I’ve booked a test drive for tomorrow, so I’ll give it a good look over while I have it. ?

November 5, 2021 at 11:25 am #168430Well I picked up the Tucson this morning and had a good two hours with it. Test drive model was a premium spec. Colour black imo looks a bit bland. Only managed 50 odd miles as drove it home to show the wife and try the dog in the boot.
I was impressed with the interior space especially the rear boot more than enough, the dog seemed to like it.
Interior quality was quite good, seats quite comfortable with a lot adjustment. I’m not a fan of touch screens, I’m used to BMW idrive but it was OK.
I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as the X1 round corners and it wasn’t but it was OKish, the steering seems a bit light and it didn’t inspire to push it if you know what I mean. The gearbox was better than I thought it was going to be, but it seemed a bit slow to respond when I booted it.
All I can say is it’s not a bad car and I’m sure if I had done more miles I would have liked it more.
So it’s definitely a contender.
November 5, 2021 at 11:53 am #168432Welcome to the revolution. The all-new TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid is not simply an evolution of its predecessor, but a full-blown design revolution.
33-mile All-Electric Range based on a fully charged battery pack and 80 MPGe. MPGe is the EPA-equivalent measure of gasoline fuel
November 5, 2021 at 12:03 pm #168433I have the old petrol Tuscon, if the Ap was lower I would consider the PHEV, but at 5k, compared to 1k for a fully electric Kona, it´s a no brainer for me, as I don´t need a car the size of the Tuscon. 33 mile all electric would do me 80% of the time.
